Well we're finally home after a week!
On Sat, August 27 I had a pretty normal day. Spent some time in the morning cleaning and organizing, checking things off my "to-do" list. After the kids naps we went out to eat (Chinese), and ran some errands. I stopped by the fabric store to get some yarn so I could start on the baby's Christmas stocking.
When we got home I went to the bathroom and when I wiped I saw some bloody discharge. I told H that we'd probably have the baby soon (thinking sometime within the next week). He had finished putting the kids to bed, and needed to run down to his parents to give them something so I settled down on the couch and started knitting.
I started having BH, but that was nothing unusual. But these seemed oddly consistent, so I downloaded a contraction app and started timing. Sure enough they were about 7-8 minutes apart. And every contraction got stronger and more painful. H came home and we watched a movie on Netflix - me knitting and timing. He got up to go to bed and started talking about what we were going to do tomorrow. I just looked at him and said "Well, I wouldn't count on it. I'm having contractions, I think we're going to be having a baby!"
I tried to go to bed at midnight but I only slept about 1/2 hour as the contractions kept waking me up. I got up and finished packing my hospital bag. By then the contractions were REALLY intense. I was out in the livingroom bent over my ottoman, and I texted my husband to get up, lol.
He called his mom to come watch the kids and we headed to the hospital around 3 am.
I was checked initially and was only about 4 cm. I got an epidural, got re-checked and was 6. The midwife told me to tell her when I felt the urge to push.
At 6 am I had a very sudden, very STRONG urge to push, so they re-checked and the baby's head was visible! I pushed two times and Miles was born! We didn't know what we were having, so we had a fun "It's a BOY!" moment.

Now the NICU stay. Miles was with us in our room for a day, but he had several episodes where he would start choking and turn blue, and his oxygen levels would drop. They decided that he needed to stay in the NICU on monitors for at least 5 days past his last episode. It was stressful for me, for sure. But I'm glad he is better now and we don't have to worry about him being cyanotic in the middle of the night when we aren't awake to hear him. We got an angelcare monitor just in case - which is totally unlike me, but I have a feeling without it I wouldn't sleep a wink!
I have photos on my "big girl" camera, but I haven't had a chance to go through them yet, so for now, some cell shots:
