Re: c section check in - Week of 9/5

  • 30 days PP- Peanut will be 1month tomorrow!!!

Other than the hot flashes, somewhat back to normal. Have to constantly remind myself not to engage in the end of summer physical activities. It's so hard, especially with DS who will be starting baseball again next wk. Hoping to be cleared for exercise next wk.

Whine: DH went back to work, and I lost my temper with DS. I felt so badly after, that all I did was nag him. Granted, he wasn't listening....but I have certainly been on edge more with the serious lack of sleep.

Win: I snuck out this morning first thing and got a pedi at my favorite nail salon. Absolutely worth the hr & 1/2.

Extremely big. Measured just over 11lbs at wk3.5. DH thinks he is now over 12??? Only a few days later?! Not sure how I feel about this. He's growing so fast.

When did your LOs on average start lengthening their sleep/feeding pattern? Still at 2-2.5 hrs over here. Sometimes 1.5 when hes overly fussy.

How are you feeling? Frustrated. I just want to be better, and the time it's taking is really grating on me. Then I push too hard, and end up setting myself back.

Wins or whines for the week? I drove for the first time since the birth last night. I could tell I wasn't really ready, but it was an emergency.

How is baby? Amazing. He is such a good boy. I weighed him a couple of days ago,  and he is a little over his birth weight, (about half a pound) so I haven't been waking him to eat. He's been pretty consistent since then on 11 /2/7 at night, which is do-able.

Any other questions / issues we can help with? I've been getting this burning stinging pain radiating across my abdomen. I brought it up to the doctor on Friday, and they were pretty dismissive - but honestly this doctor always is. Anyone else dealing with this?

  • Days / weeks Post  Partum? 6 weeks today.

How are you feeling? Feeling great physical for the most part. Sometimes I have pain after doing something and I have to remind myself I had major surgery just 6 weeks ago.

Wins or whines for the week?
Wins- DS slept for 9 hours one night last week
whines- I woke him up after 9 hrs. I was worried. I'm also struggling with Baby Blues that I think is turning into PPD. Def going to talk to my OB at my appointment on Thursday.

How is baby?  Amazing. I either need to feed him more or he's going thru a growth spurt. He ate every 1.5-2 hrs this afternoon.

Any other questions / issues we can help with? Nope :-)

@lblu43 we average 3 hrs between feedings during the day (except today ofcourse). Goes down for bed around 7-9 and sleeps till 2:30-3 am. Then down for another 5-6 hrs.

How are you feeling? Pretty good, I think my hormones are starting to balance out as my face has started clearing up. It's been broken out since I got pregnant with LO and I'm tired of having teenager skin.

Wins or whines for the week?

Whine: DH has been working evenings and it turns out that it's much harder on me than when he works the opening shift. And of course they always schedule him more closings than opening.

Win: DD, while still testing her boundaries, has started behaving a little better which is a miracle because she is a stubborn, independent little girl.

How is baby? He is big! We took him to the doctor because he was projectile spitting up a lot but he is gaining weight fine so doctor wasn't too concerned. He said it was probably reflux and prescribed Zantac but before we actually give it to him we are trying different things to see if maybe he's just being over fed or something. I feel like reflux is a go to for doctors to tell parents so we can have peace of mind by being able to label an issue but I don't want to have to medicate so young! He's done really well this week so we still haven't given him any and I'm hoping we won't have to.

Any other questions / issues we can help with?
  • @TCUFrog08 I can't imagine!!!! The longest he's ever gone between a feed is 3hrs 20min during the day. At night, never more than 2.5hrs. And that is pushing it. A lot of time the gas wakes him. I originally doubted my milk, but he's certainly gaining. 7#13.8oz at birth. Measured 11#1.8oz at 3.5 wks..... Just hoping he'll start to even out on the sleep in the next few wks. I'm so tired.
  • @Allisun85 I had the burning feeling for the first week or so. It was terrible and brought me to tears. I remembered it from my first c-section and brought it up to my OB. She said its part of the healing process. I found that wearing the belly band really helps with it. It was pretty intense for about a week for me and then went away for the most part. I hope it starts to get better soon for you!

  • Weeks: 2

How are you feeling? I'm still having issues with having a bowel movement. They're so painful and so is gas. I feel like my intestines are in so much pain. Also, my incision itches like crazy! It doesn't help that I broke out in a full body rash awhile ago because I'm apparently allergic to Dreft...

Whine: LO keeps me awake and busy 24/7. She nurses at least once per hour and only sleeps for two hours at a time and never at night. I'm so exhausted! It makes it harder to recover from surgery because I never get any rest.

Win: As of our last ped appointment, she gained 7 ounces in two days! So I'm feeling pretty good about my milk supply. Breast feeding is the one thing I'm feeling good about.

How is baby? She's doing great! I think I pretty much answered that above. I just love staring at her face. I can't get enough of her.

Question: Anyone else's LO keep them up ALL the time? If so, at what point, if ever, did you get to sleep more then an hour or two a day?
  • Days / weeks Post Partum? 5 weeks

How are you feeling?  Pretty good, but still having incision issues with small hemotomas that keep emerging and a yeast infection along the incision :(  walking a good amount each day

Wins or whines for the week?  Pain has come back with the latest hemotoma but the therahoney is helping. It us so frustrating not being able to do all I want to. I miss yoga, and i'd like to be abLe to lean forward more comfortably.

How is baby? Baby is great. 13 pounds at his q month appointment. Still only sleeps a max of 3 hours in a row, but often sleeps at night now!

Any other questions / issues we can help with? Anyone else dealing with an incision that keeps opening up? Or a yeast issue? I know both are fairly common complications.

I'm sitting with you at the 2 1/2 hours at a time at night! And like you, that's a good night! :)

    Days / weeks Post Partum?
    3 weeks, 6 days!

    How are you feeling?
Physically: Better each day but still tend to over do it at times. I'm trying to go for short walks daily but I'm still somewhat sore and tender afterward. Can't wait to be back to normal.

Emotionally/mentally: Was able to get a last minute appointment with my doctor Friday because ppd was becoming all consuming and my boyfriend even came home from work early because he was worried about me. My doctor upped my meds to where I was pre pregnancy and I'm thankful to have been able to see her on short notice. I'll also be finding a therapist to help me work through things until I feel like me again.

Wins or whines for the week?
A win for me would be recognizing I needed help for my ppd. Otherwise the baby continues to gain weight after losing a bit after birth.

Whine would be only having a quarter of a glass of wine and needing to stop because I felt fuzzy. lol

    How is baby?
So very sweet. She makes the funniest faces and it's incredible to see her already turning into a person if that makes sense. I look forward to getting to know her better every single day.

Any other questions / issues we can help with?
Not today-i hope you guys have a great week!
  • Days / weeks Post Partum? 4 weeks 2 days

How are you feeling? Good overall, have been having pain on just the right side of my incision. Have been totally taking it easy & feeling great so started doing more like piking up & carrying carseat, holding my 30lb toddler, etc. It seems to hurt more when I've done those things. Guess I need to back off still. Almost feels like internally my skin is being pulled apart.

Wins or whines for the week? Started going for walks this week. Went out on 3 days for about 3.5ish miles each.

How is baby?  Great, gaining, turning 1 month tomorrow!! Started sleeping better this week. We go to bed 10:30-11pm, he wakes around 3-4am, back to sleep then up 7-8am.

Any other questions / issues we can help with? Just the issue under " how are you feeling". Should add I didnt have this pulling on th incision feeling with 1st CS (2.5yrs ago). I took it more easy though & also thought maybe more pain since Dr when in through same incision

@S&J05 DH made a comment today that DS is becoming more "animated" and I looked at him and said "more like he is becoming a person?" and he got so excited and goes "YES!!"
I agree 100% it is awesome to see them grow up and start doing more than eat, sleep and poop!

Good for you to notice your PPD. I had an episode the other night and didn't want to express my feelings so I wrote them down and showed them to DH the next morning. He said he is going to go with me to my 6 week check up, bc he doesn't think i'll be honest with the OB and he wants to also know how he can help and what he can do. So I am proud that you noticed it and handled it.

How are you feeling? Tired, mostly. But otherwise recovering well, I think

Wins or whines for the week? Whine: I almost murdered DH at 2 am. I got up, fed baby, thought I had rocked her to sleep enough, and put her in her crib. Shortly after I got back in bed, she started making noise, and crying out a little but not full-out wailing. Sometimes she will do this in her sleep and then quiet back down. So, I tapped DH and told him to go see if she was really crying or just making noise. He goes, gets her, deposits her in the pack n play in our room and goes back to sleep. Didn't check her diaper or try to really settle her down, as far as I could tell. She continues to not sleep and make noise, and he doesn't move a muscle. Since I hadn't gotten to bed til midnight, I was not pleased. SO I quieted her, rocked her, etc. He only redeemed himself because when I fed her at 6 am or so, when she didn't want to settle back down, he took her and let me sleep some more.

How is baby? She's doing great

Any other questions / issues we can help with? Any tips for getting baby to go back to sleep at night? She seems to be sleeping consistently from 10-11 pm to about 2 or 2:30am (doesn't seem to matter if she goes down at 10 or 11--I guess there is something about 2 am), but then it is hard to get her back to sleep after feeding. I try  to keep the lights low, not interact too much, but it doesn't seem to work that well.

  • Days / weeks Post Partum? 5 weeks and 3 days

How are you feeling? Pretty good for the most part. My feet are still a bit swollen and my carpal tunnel is still there. Also, I'm ready to start exercising and get rid of the remaining weight.

Wins or whines for the week? Whine: I can't fit into any of my prepregnancy pants so I had to buy new jeans and I wanted to cry over the size that fit. This c-section pooch can go already! Win: We have survived the week 5 leap (I hope to God it's over) so now we're trying to adjust and make a new routine since C is awake more.

How is baby? He is doing well; still spitting up but gaining weight. I'm pretty obsessed and he's smiling much more.

Any other questions / issues we can help with? Nope
  • @JournoGrl23 Try heating up ginger ale in the microwave to where it has lost its carbonation (about 4-5 minutes) and steeping a black tea bag in the heated up ginger ale for a bit then drinking it. The nurses in the hospital taught us that trick when I had terrible gas pains and it helped tremendously.

Thank you! I will definitely try that.
  • @journogrl23 the sleeping has just started spacing out for us. We definitely still have our moments where he demands to be fed every hour in the middle of the night, but we're starting to get into something of a predictable schedule. Not exactly what I want his schedule to be, but at least its something...
