Ways I'm taking advantage of my bump

ive decided that if everything hurts and I can reach to scrub my back and all that, I'm going to play the third trimester card and take advantage.

first example - no heavy lifting - I took that one step further and made DH pick up my dry cleaning (which really wasn't heavy but I said oh honey y'know how I'm not supposed to lift stuff can u be a sweetie and pick up my dry cleaning)

Re: Ways I'm taking advantage of my bump

  • I have started telling my DH that I will start doing things I want him to do e.g. I'm going to tape off the ceiling to we can paint! (So he gives me a long reason why I can't and he will do it) it will be nice to have my downstairs painted before LO is here

  • We moved into a new house on Thursday. Needless to say I just sat and pointed where things had to go. I'm also not allowed to life anything over 5lb since my Surgery so I have double the pitty party!
  • I haven't lifted anything more than about 10-15 lbs at work all year(between baby and my bad shoulders I just can't) and I've gotten out of a lot of work at our fireworks shows this year. My mom and Aunt are both nurses and they pretty much wouldn't let me lift anything. I hate moving racks anyways to this was a perfect excuse not to do any of it. Next year I will have to get myself back in shape and I'll have to start lifting them again but for now I'm just enjoying the break.

Also, last night I had DH wash me in the shower. We do this occasionally anyways just as a way to pamper each other but last night I totally played the bump card and told DH that I needed his help because I can't reach my feet anymore. I really CAN reach them but it is incredibly uncomfortable.
  • I've been trying to encourage my daughter to be more independent, like walk as opposed to being held. So when she asks for "Huggies" I tell her my belly is too big and can she please walk instead. Plus if I'm just tired I tell my husband I need help because hey! Pregnant lady over here!
  • I wouldn't say I'm taking advantage, but because of the physical demands of my job (my last day I spend literally the whole day lifting patients!) I'm planning to start my leave in about 2 weeks. Fingers crossed my MW is supportive!

  • I also totally threw my DH's request for healthy meals out the window last night because mama needed some enchiladas, so we had some enchiladas instead of chicken salad!

  • My 4 year old is quickly picking up on the fact that it's hard for me to bend over and pick things up.  She's doing a lot of that for me.

  • I get DH to get up for me a lot...either to help me up or bring me ice water. Other than that I've been put on slightly lighter duty at work so that's been okay. Otherwise none of my coworkers give a shit that I'm pregnant lol
  • DH has been very protective over me and this pregnancy following our miscarriage in January. He doesn't like it when I lift anything heavy and complains when I pick up our 30lb three year old. He said it so much that even she now says, "no, mommy you can't carry be because of the baby." At least she's prepared for if I have a repeat CS and really can't lift anything.

Bending down to pick something up is what I tell my K students and my daughter I need help with. Although, it's really not far from the truth.

  • Hubs always makes sure I have eaten, cooks all my meals to order, and gives me backrubs every night <3

  • I'm currently exaggerating the difficulty of getting up so that DH will start noticing and in the future I can resort to pointing at stuff instead of doing it myself
