@kcasset I DO love fall and scarf season, but I do NOT love pumpkin spice. See, here I was thinking I didn't have any unpopular opinions today!! Thanks for reminding me of that one!
I hate when people constantly refer to their pets as their children. Ex. "Dad and son (dog) blowing out birthday candles!" And these people do it all the time, I'm not talking about once or twice in jest.

@twistsandturnsto2 I've literally had parenting advice given to me by a 'pet parent' based on how they trained their dog. She also wanted to teach her sister how to be a better mom based on this advice. She has no kids.
@mamabear2015 one of the couples we are friends with have dogs that they refer to as their children. She compares parenting my DS to "parenting" her dogs!
@catem07 Woopsie! I was one of these people before I had my son. We would post pics of our "daughter" Sophie the cat. Lol, looking back I think "really? what an idiot" Now, they of course are just my pets.
my unpop opinion: Wish the Biebs would just go back to Canada. He's so annoying!!!

A friend of mine compares her exhaustion and time commitment of her dog to my two babies. I'm sorry, last I checked, I cannot lock my children in a cage and leave for 12 hours.
I hate how people let their dogs pee and poop and leave marks all over city sidewalks. They're supposed to go on the curbs, at least in NY. I still think even that is gross, but don't have a better solution.

Samesies. I was complaining once about how a spousal support group (for our husbands who are in post-collegiate training together and gone a lot) I'm in always does events that are not kid-friendly, despite the people with kids potentially need MORE support because of our isolation and time commitments. The Leader of the group, who is 5+ years older, has been married for less time, has 0 kids and 3 cats jumped on me about how her life is just as hard and time consuming as mine. I was so pissed. All I requested was less kid-free activities (this is a spousal and family support group, after all). She said her cats take up all of her attention and she doesn't have time to do anything apart from work. But lo and behold she can set up and host all sorts of alcohol-driven activities (painting with a twist, drinks at a bar, etc). She then had the audacity to say to me, "I know you're not a fan of babysitters, but that's not the case with most people." Sorrrrrrry I don't have a lot of extra money to pay a sitter for my 3 kids who wouldn't go to bed without me, and I can't just hand them a litterbox and go out for the day.
In the end, NO ONE with kids ever went to any of her planned activities and group fell apart due to lack of attendance and interest, so that was pretty satisfying for me in the end.

I hate bachelorette parties. The silliness and penis themed everything is so annoying. And the gang of coordinated party attendees giggling like fools yelling shots every two minutes - barf.
I have a real problem when people who let their dogs crap on other people's lawns - even if they pick it up (bc it never truly all gets picked up). And in particular I dislike this couple that walks their two dogs into my court to poop on the island in the middle or along the sidewalks. I know exactly where they live and they pass many areas with no houses where their dogs could go before they walk into our culdasac (off the main circle of the neighborhood) specifically to have them squat and go. We have over a dozen kids that like to play on that island (and everywhere else in front of the houses) and for that reason every single person who lives in this court takes their dogs out to the areas along the road to do their business. Now this couple usually picks up the actual crap, but it still grosses me out that they choose our court to be their dogs' toilet. They've also let their dogs piss on our actual driveway before. I know I'm probably being overly harsh (hence me posting in the unpopular opinion thread) since they do usually have bags with them, but I have a dog and we do our very best not to let that happen on people's property or near where children play.

This is exactly why I didn't have a party! We went out to dinner and then had a big sleep over. So much better than penises and suck for a buck!
I call myself a dog-mom/cat-mom, but only in my house, not to others unless we're close friends. I love my pets, but I don't dress them up or project human emotions onto them. I became a pet owner to give these animals a good life and in my book, that means love, affection, discipline, and a healthy diet. In that way, I'm a parent to my pets IMO.
ETA: I don't celebrate their birthday's either because they don't know or care.
UO: I hate it when adults make children say "yes ma'am/sir" because often it just seems like its an exercise in power. Children are not beneath us and should not be made to submit in that way psychologically. I've seen some adults who truly believe it's good manners to use that language and they address the matter more respectfully. I don't agree either way, but don't find the latter as offensive. I think we should teach respect through respect and kindness. Firm and stern are also necessary but never have to be disrespectful. This is a UO especially in the south, where I live.
@Breesy14 I agree with your UO. I'm not from the South, but I was raised that way too. To piggy back on that I hate when people use "baby talk" to talk to young children. My nephew is 20 months and is starting to talk and a lot of my aunts are talking to him in "baby talk" and it drives me bonkers. Just talk to him like a normal human being!
I also experienced a moment when an acquaintance tried to tell me parenting a child was just like training her dog. I laughed so hard!
My UO: I don't understand the hype around football. I vaguely understand the sport after 4 years of marching band but not enough to ever want to watch a game. I'm more of a baseball fan (but still don't watch games on TV--only at the stadium).
Now given all that, this is the second year I'm playing Fantasy Football with several other Feb 12 Bump moms and I'm addicted. But do I understand the sport much? Nope.
@RachelGreene baby talk really annoys me too. I cringe when I hear people repeat themselves too "Wanna eat eat after we change your wittle dipey?" Ugh. GIFing just failed me. Picture puke face.
On the pet topic - baby talk is just as bad in my book. I. Do. Not. Baby talk my pets.
@Rileypie I hate bachelorette parties.. I have one next weekend.. the bride keeps insisting she's going to get me drunk (I don't usually have more than a beer/glass of wine when not pregnant) she has no idea I'm pregnant as she can't keep a secret so this is going to be interesting.
@HappyAnjel I was at one a couple weeks ago, but it was with my good friends so I told them, they would have known when I didn't have my usual margaritas. Good luck avoiding the drinks, there are lots of tips online for faking it! Honestly the worst part was trying to stay awake and not be nauseous all night...blah. Hope you survive lol
@happyanjel when I ran into this I went to the bartender and told him I needed virgin drinks. My drinks of choice where cranberry juice . Maybe you can pull that off as wine?? Or just a virgin margarita because you are going crazy that night! Or maybe orange juice with granidine in it?
Or how about when pet parents celebrate mothers day? Ugh! Also I've been told that loosing a pet is like loosing a child because the love is the same. Can i legally strangle someone.
My UO... I just announced I was pregnant to my FB at 7weeks my bloat is so bad that everytime I'm out I get congrats by people that know me. I'm underweight so I can't pass off a round belly as getting heavier >.< it's a lot earlier then I announced my last pregnancy but I didn't even start to show till after 3 months.. oh well there's nothing wrong with being excited right?
