September FET Buddies!

Re: September FET Buddies!

  • @mtpbadger the patch and tablet have been making me feel pretty crappy.  The same thing happened with my first FET, but I thought it was a coincidence.  Now I'm sensing a trend.
  • @mtpbadger Yes, also so very tired! It did not hit me until I had to increase to 2 estrace tablets a day on Monday. I thought I was not sleeping well, but it must be the meds.
  • Loading the player...
  • So glad it's not just me! I thought I was still tired from vacation but I think it's the meds. I am dreading increasing to 3 patches starting tomorrow. I'm starting to get all emotional at random times too...like watching a commercial, lol. My poor DH! Hopefully this means the meds are working!
  • @mtpbadger I am hoping not to test.  Bad news is I have 20 tests sitting on the dresser to tempt me! My beta is Sept 10. Not quite a 2 week wait.  I feel like i have waited longer on this journey.  So I hope that I can make it.  I have toyed with the idea of testing the morning of the beta to prepare myself...Sounds like a fair compromise.

I just got off the phone with the dr and we were able to pick the female blast!!  I am excited, but it does make it surreal.  25 more hours to go till my transfer!

As for tired.  I went through a nappy phase in the beginning with the estrace and the patches.  But I am currently in a high energy feeling amazing phase.  I think my body is happy to have some progesterone to balance out all the estrogen.  Makes me not mind the PIO shots!
    Me: 41  DH: 44  DD: 9
    IVF: ER 7/16 40 follies, 23 eggs, 19 mature,
    12 fert w/icsi, 6 blasts, 3 PGS norm, 1 unknown.

    FET: 9/1/16 transferred 1 CP beta 5.9
    FET 2: 11/15/16 transferred 1 CP again!
    FET 3: TBD

  • @bells5200 can  your DH hide the tests for you? I had mine do that for the last FET cycle and it really helped not knowing where they were! That is so exciting that you were able to pick the gender! That makes it totally real!

Hopefully when I start the PIO injections I get some energy back! You just made me look forward to starting those!

  • @mtpbadger I was exhausted for my FET more than my fresh cycle. I was on estrace 3times a day and crinone twice a day and by the end like 7pm I was ready for bed and getting up for work was killing me. Wish I could have taken a day off.

  • The estrace gave me headaches.  I was at 3 a day plus two patches.  Now I am "only" at two pills of estrace with the patches and the headaches are gone.  Guess that was my threshold.  Since I bought the fitbit to remind me to take my meds, I have been walking a bit more.  Maybe that is helping with the energy a bit?

@mtpbadger That's a great idea, but then what happens when I NEED to test!?  There will be a mini war in the house! LOL!  I have convinced myself that the wait is really only about 3 days.  Nothing will show on the stick till about 6 days past transfer right?  My beta is scheduled for 9 days.  So really I just have to hold out a few extra days.  It is going to be the first week of school so I will be busy with work to help time go by.

Man, I am so in love with our little group!  Welcome @Worldtravler0522, I recognize you from the T-TTC forum.  I am so sorry for your loss last cycle and I hope this FET will be successful for you!!

@bells52000 So exciting that you were able to choose your girl embaby!  Our clinic let us choose too, and while gender doesn't matter to me, DH really wants a girl.  So that's what we are doing as well.  Yay!  Your transfer is so soon!!  I can't wait to hear how everything goes tomorrow!!!

@C-k That is soooooo interesting about gender selection.  Especially since if you do PGS testing then they KNOW the gender.  I wonder if they keep it in the file or not but just can't tell you?  Also seems a little silly to me that they are considering allowing it for the 3rd kid, but ONLY if the previous 2 are the same gender.  Funny funny...

AFM, I want to hop on board with the exhaustion conversation.  Last night I texted @LeFemmeViolette because I was feeling so crappy and wanted to know if it was just me (we both started oral estrace on Saturday).  I was feeling so headache-y and nauseous.  I could barely eat any of my dinner.  Today I'm feeling better but my energy is not where it usually is.  I'm hoping my body gets used to this medication soon.

Happy last day of August everyone!!!  It's almost GO TIME!!!

  • @C-k that is beyond bizarre about the embryo gender selection. I wonder what on earth they are trying to accomplish there.  On a somewhat unrelated note, it just flat out bothers me when government tries to insert itself into such deeply personal matters as reproductive technology for IF treatment.  I digress...

Finally caught up! A friend suggested this group. Long story as short as I can... Got married sept 28, 2013. After a year and half got pregnant but it was a bad embryo because I ovulate a week early rather than the 12-14 days and had a DNC 4/12/16. I only have one working ovary and I have DOR and I'm 36.5 yro old. Did 1 retrieval on 2/3/16 with old doctor and transfered 2/8/16. BFN....and then went to a new doctor did 1 retrieval 3/29 (got one heathy embryo), another retrieval 4/23/16 (0 heathy) and one retrieval 6/17/16 (one healthy embryo)....So out of all that we have two healthy pgs tested embryos waiting for our transfer on Tuesday, Sept 6, 2016. We could know the sexes but want to wait to get our BFP and share with family. I am by far super excited as I have been doing this medications, IUIs and Retreivals for a year already TODAY!  I've been on estrace a week and I'm hungry all the time. I start progesterone injections tomorrow night! Ugh not looking forward to that. My lining is 7.6 as of this morning. Wishing you all sticky thoughts the next few weeks! Xoxo

Hi all, really need this group for support :) We started our first round of IVF around thanksgiving 2015, got pregnant with our first fresh transfer then lost it 5 weeks later. 4 embryos made it to the freezer, and we are now down to our last 2. We've had 1 chemical then the last which I carried until 10.5 weeks. So here we are now heading for our final FET using our last 2 embryos. TWINS :) one can hope!
I completed all the RPL bloodwork and had a hysteroscopy today and my RE told me all is normal. Which is great but hard, because you can't fix normal!
So as of now just waiting for CD1 which should be 9/9!!
  • @wifeinraleigh28. My husband wants the girl too!  Cute!

it was an interesting call with the RE.  He said typically we could pick the girl if we were balancing our family, but not if we were just selecting. Makes no sense...so if I had a boy, I could pick the girl.  In the end it was no problem but he said he had to check with the embryologist to see if he had an ethical opposition to it.  Huh? Okay! All is good for now.  Hoping that little emby makes it through the thaw!  This time tomorrow I will be sacked on the sofa singing sticky songs to this egg!

  • That is so weird about the gender selection thing. Here in Canada, I think you're only allowed to choose gender to avoid genetic diseases.
  • FX that September 16th is a good day. I'm joining you ladies that day for my 3rd FET. I've been on estrace 2x a day for 6 days now and my lining check is the 7th.
TW my 2nd IVF in 2012 was a BFP with twin girls and now we are at it again. We will be defrosting 2 and doing a late day transfer. But only transferring the best 1 of the 2. I know I can handle twins I've done it before but we are not really looking for another set of twins so this is the compromise we made with the Doc. It's been frustrating this year with a go to freeze all because my progesterone levels were way to high for a fresh transfer and then to have 2 failed FET's or as my Doc called them 2 misses.

  • @LSatturo126 I don't know that I did anything to make them "stick" they were both 4AA hatching embroyos. I can remember being frustrated trying to do everything right the first round that I kinda gave up and really didn't follow all the "rules". I did take 4 days off from work )it's kind of rule of thumb in my house) and drank lots of water and Gatorade. My first IVF I was very close to OHS but my second not as much.

  • @LSatturo126 I have had a successful fresh and frozen ET before and I can honestly tell you that all I did was just take it easy the day of.  With my fresh cycle I took the entire day off work and with my FET I took a 1/2 day.  The reason I tell you this is so that you don't stress yourself out or play the blame game with yourself about past cycles or this current cycle.  My specialist says there are a variety of reasons some cycles work and some don't with very little falling on what you did or didn't do that day.  I just recommend being good to yourself.  Take it easy that day.  Try to relax.  Some ladies swear by acupuncture so if your'e game speak with your specialist about that.  Their office will give you a list of "do/don't" activity post transfer, but beyond that list I recommend kicking up your feet and using it as a reason to play princess for the day :) .  DH is awesome about cooking for me those nights (I usually do all the cooking) and taking care of other household responsibilities for the day that typically fall on me.  FX this is your cycle and both stick!
  • It's September ladies, get excited!!  @bells52000 Best of luck today and sticky thoughts.
  • Ditto!  best of luck today @bells52000!

Are any of you ladies planning to test prior to your beat with HPTs?  If so, when do you think you'll start?  I'm the worst at waiting until my beta so I'll probably pick up a 3 pack test kit (I don't let myself test more than that).  I'll probably take my first test 7dp5dt.  I'll be on vacation the day following my transfer which is great because that should help take my mind off of things.
  • @Elyse1384 yes!! I plan on milking the Hubby's cooking cuz it's so rare lol. I took off of work the week cuz it is very stressful and I don't want to even think about it. Thanks and to you as well!!

Married my best friend in 2013 (I was 33), After 1.5yrs of TTC got my first BFP naturally on 2/7/15 but ended in DNC on 4/14/15, not viable. In 2015 I was 35...Found out I had only one working ovary, which was DOR, with scar tissue and I ovulated at 7 days, with a small cervix opening and a tilted uterus... Needing an RE was a must.....IUI#1 Sept 2015,,, BFN IUI#2 Oct 2015,,,BFN IUI#3 Dec 2015,,BFN IVF#1 2/1/16- BFN IVF# on 3/29/16 retrieval only - 1 healthy chromosome tested embryo. IVF#3 retrieval 4/23/16- 0 healthy embryos. IVF#4 retrieval 6/17/16- 1 healthy embryo. FET#1-Transferred Both Healthy Embryos on 9/6/16 BFP!! 9/15/16 Beta 22.3, 9/17/16 Beta 60.5 & 9/19/16 Beta 195! 1st US on 9/23/16, only 1 Gast Sac & Yolk Sac found, US 9/30/16 US 6wk 1day saw and heard Heartbeat 120bpm!! EDD 5/25/2017 Had a healthy baby girl via CSection on 5/18/17 8lbs 15oz. Then four months later got pregnant naturally and had a healthy baby boy on 6/13/18 7lbs 6oz (at age 38). Needless to say, anything is possible! I'm keeping my signature open so it gives someone out there hope that anything is possible. • I agree with @Elyse1384 - take it easy and try not to play the blame game if they don't stick. Before my last FET, I decided what I would do/not do beforehand. That one ended in a cp; I was devastated but didn't blame myself. There's no way of knowing what went wrong, so I'm not going to beat myself up over it.

    Either way, good luck @LSatturo126

afm, the u/s showed my lining as a 0.9 so the FET is scheduled for Sept. 6. Beta is Sept. 19 (they really like to keep us in suspense). I usually hope for the best and prepare for the worst, but this time I'm kinda ignoring the whole thing. Lol, we'll see how that works out for me
  • I totally agree this last BFN hit me HARD. I just couldn't understand what I have done wrong. I could swear it took. I know this can work it worked once before for me so why is it so hard now. DH made me set up an apt with the doc instead of just cruising into the next round. I guess I just needed that reassurance from him that there is nothing that I did wrong. The Doc looked at me and said "I'm only going to tell you this once, these are not fails they are just misses, there's not enough pineapple in the world to MAKE it work or fuzzy enough socks or the right mix of oils. You just need to relax and let your body work. The stress of everything doesn't need to be increased with you blaming yourself."
Husband and I decided to do the 4 days off thing years ago. My first IVF I took the whole tww off and did notta. Thats going over board. I usually do my FET on a Thurs or Friday so I just take that day and the whatever leads me into the weekend. Since its a Friday this time I'm playing it by ear whether I take Monday off too. With twins at home my relaxing isn't always relaxing lol. They try to baby me cause they just think I have a tummy ache and needed the doc and some medicine, that way they don't jump on me.

  • @fatpony I have that same mentality this round - it is what it is. I'm going to live as normally as possible following transfer.

@thucks I love what your dr said! I asked my Dr before my first FET any recommendations on taking it easy, etc. and she said just live your life, there are people walking around everyday not knowing they are pregnant and they go on to have successful pregnancies and healthy babies.

@elyse1384 I won't be testing early. I didn't for my first FET and I did much better than testing early and seeing a negative. It still sucked getting the phone call but I wasn't obsessing over taking test after test to see if anything had changed. My DH hid all my tests and I still have no clue where they are!

  • @mtpbadger It's true people have no clue half the time that they are prego. We are just more in tuned with our body.

@Elyse1384 I do not test at home. I freak out way to much for that. Even with the twins I didn't touch a test. My anxiety level sky rockets just holding it. FET #1 I did test only because we were with family on 10dp5dt and DH was dying to tell his dad. He begged me to do it and he now regrets it.

Yes we will be doing a transfer the same day!! Woohoo!! Except my Beta is 9/15/16. Sorry you have to wait a few extra days. I'm probably going to test the morning of with my husband cuz they call when I'm not with him and I'd like to hear it together.

  • @Elyse1384 I totally plan on testing before my beta, I could not wait last time and ended up testing at 8dpt and started to see a faint line. I don't know how I will respond to a negative though! So I'll probably wait till then this time also. I totally purchased some more wondfo's the other day just for this purpose.

  • Hello Ladies and happy September!

    TW, m/c mentioned

After 3 failed medicated cycles and 3 failed IUI's, I moved on to IVF and my ER was May 4th, 2016. We had a total of 8 frozen emmies. I transferred one of those little ones and got my BFP. Unfortunately the LO's heart stopped beating around 7 1/2 weeks along and was discovered at 8 wks 6 days. I had a d/c the next day.

I was finally able to see my RE again yesterday and he has cleared me to start up again and said my uterus looks great! Bcp have been stopped and I will be starting estrogen patches in a few days after AF comes. I'm so happy to be starting up again. :) And, so happy to be here with all of you lovely ladies! FX for all of us :)

My FET will likely be around 9/23ish if my lining cooperates.
