Bleeding 26 weeks

This past week I went away with my husband (drove) and we had sex, spent the day at the beach, walked around, and by dinner I was bleeding down my leg. I checked into the local hospital to be safe, baby was fine, no placenta abruption, but still scary. They said it could've been a clot that formed from sex and came out. Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Bleeding 26 weeks

  • Yes, that happened to me off and on with my first pregnancy. It is very scary and I'm glad you called your Dr. right away! I had a polyp that caused bleeding, but we didn't find out until the very end of my pregnancy. Needless to say my LO got a lot of ultrasounds. I hope it was a one time thing for you!

  • i Havent had any since about 11 weeks, but when I called it in,  "have you had sex recently" was the first question they asked! Fingers crossed that's all it was for you- I know how terrifying it can be!!

  • I had some bleeding at 13 weeks that scared me. It wasn't a lot, but I too went right to the doctor. She said something similar, that a vessel had probably burst on my cervix or something and asked if I'd had sex recently. Glad that yours, like mine, was nothing serious!

  • I've never had bleeding after sex but I did have some bleeding after a Pap smear at that first appointment. Bleeding after sex is totally normal though.
  • I'm a little late to this thread and I'm so glad everything is fine for you @ShariAllison! I have had bleeding off and on every 4-5 weeks (initially I was told it was breakthrough bleeding) and now more recently every two weeks-ish since becoming pregnant. Lots of ultra sounds, baby is always fine, just so nerve wracking! I absolutely hate it every time! My midwife can never find anything abnormal though and thinks I just have an irritable cervix or it's stress induced. Annoying part is my hubby is never in town when this happens so we all are in the stressed induced boat...didn't know I was that high strung! Kick counts have become a go to for me on these days because if I can feel my little buddy kicking and squirming, he has to have a heartbeat too and that is so comforting. Best wishes to anyone in this situation...it's not ever fun.
  • So glad someone else can understand my pain here! I had a sensitive cervix as well and I just bleed. But NOTHING is wrong with the baby or me. Its so awful. And the baby sits super low and its so uncomfortable. HUGS!
