HELLO SEPTEMBER!!!

1 - How far along are you?
2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week?
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!)

Last week's thread

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? It's going really well. I have some annoying symptoms, but overall I feel positive.
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) No natural supplements. When I'm not pregnant I only take a vitamin, but with OB's ok or recommendation, I'm taking a prenatal, a baby aspirin (to help with high BP), Zantac 150, and a Unisom to help me sleep. I'll honestly probably keep taking the Unisom after Ashton is here because it really does help me get good sleep.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?
I am strangely excited for labor too! I am super stoked to meet Ashton, but I also feel strength in knowing that giving birth to him is only something *I* can do. I'm excited to harness that strength and show myself that I can do anything! DH has been very sweet in trying to prepare himself at being a good birthing partner--I can't ask for more!

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Alright, Braxton-Hicks are kicking my butt.
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) No, just prenatal vitamins and the occasional Tylenol if I have a raging headache. I try to use as few meds as possible even when I'm not pregnant.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

YES! I just so hope this is lightyears different than my first so I'm excited for another chance to get closer to the labor that I want to have. Does that make sense? With my first a lot of my "choices" were taken away due to some unforeseen circumstances and I'm hopeful that this time will be different.

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week?  Happy to feel Kai moving a lot, but sciatica and pelvic bone pain are killing me

3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!)

No supplements for me.  I may look into some natural ways to bring on labour once I'm full term but I'll talk to m OB about them first.  I'm not convinced anything really works until baby is ready for eviction!

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?
I'm starting to feel more and more like I can do this again!  It has been a few years, but I think I'm less anxious about delivery than I was about the others.

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Pretty good, but starting to get a tiny bit of heartburn
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) nope just prenatal vitamins when I remember.
Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)? I actually am excited for labor this time. I am looking foward to the labor tub. I just wish that DH was more supportive. He keeps saying that I am going to cave for the epidural. But that might give me more motivation to go without. I have actually been practicing breathing techniques and dreaming of labor.

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Depends on when you ask me - I was about to be like "just fine!" and then remembered how much of a wreck I was yesterday and the day before. I guess the answer is "just the normal stuff"
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) Last time I drank red raspberry leaf tea but I can't remember when I started. I also took evening primrose oil but can't remember when I started that either. So far just prenatals and Ca/Mg supplement daily unless I forget. Fish oil once or twice a week. If I have 3 nights of less than 6 hours of sleep in a row, I'll take a benadryl or unisom for one night.

I'm excited because this pregnancy is feeling so much more typical and I'm anticipating a labor that I'm ready to handle. I managed sooo many hours of such intense labor last time that I feel really confident I can do that again.

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Pretty good.  Still feeling relatively human.  RLP has been picking back up so I think he's on the verge of a growth spurt.
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) I took a multivitamin and flax oil before I got pregnant so my OB just wanted me to continue taking that and then we added a magnesium supplement for headaches and constipation.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

I actually have been having a lot more moments of being excited about labor too.  I still have a few "holy hell what have I gotten myself into" moments, but I'm really looking forward to just harnessing the strength and doing it.  Anytime I do get nervous about it I just try to remind myself that women have been doing this since the beginning of time, and I'm no different than they are.  It also helps that by the time labor comes that I'm going to be so sick of being pregnant that I'll put up with just about anything for it to be over with

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week?
Fine. Starting to get uncomfortable in the evenings, but I think that's more a combination of pregnant and packing/moving. At least in telling myself it won't last once I can relax again.

3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why?
    Nope, just my prenatals.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?
Not sure if excited is the right word? But I'm definitely curious. Curious if it's as terrible as some people say. Or as not terrible as others say. Curious to see if all this money we've dumped into birthing classes and a doula will be worth it.

I mostly don't think about it all that often. I live by the rule that you shouldn't stress about what you can't change. Birth will go how it goes. I'm preparing as well as I can and that's all I can do. No sense in worrying about it for months.

  • 1 - How far along are you?
    22+6 with b/g twins

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week?
Pregnancy is fine other than my numb hands affecting my sleep at night. I think In another month or so I will start feeling worse (I'm measuring 10 weeks ahead, so when I start measuring 40ish weeks, I'm kind of planning for more difficulties!)

3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why?
I take my prenatal (MegaFood Brand), an extra Methylfolate (folic acid)(because of the twin thing- per my doc), Vitamin D, B complex (as needed for energy- some days it's the only thing that saves me), Fish Oil 1200 mg (started this to help with the numb hands as fish oil is said to help with inflammation, is also recommended for pregnancy in general), Cal/Mag supplement as needed for restless legs at night (works in like 15 minutes- amaaaazing!!)

Doc knows about all of it and is fine. I take them throughout the day.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

I think I *would* be more excited, but with twins it all matters what it looks like at the end (who's head down, growing on track, etc). Right now it's a total crap shoot what my birth will look like...

  • 1 - How far along are you? 23 weeks today!

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Pretty good. I'm finally acknowledging that sciatic pain is what's causing my hobbling, and I do feel like I'm slowing down, but on the flip side, I've been feeling baby A's kicks so much more. Yesterday I felt him from the outside for the first time, which was just fantastic!

3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? I was going to say no, but then @slartybartfast brought up the RRL. So, yes, I guess -- I've been drinking my midwife's homemade pregnancy tea (which I'm sure has RRL in it) since I hit second trimester. It's a great way to ease into my nighttime routine! I also switched my prenatal to Raw Code and have been emptying the capsules into smoothies. Not bad. And I've been meaning to take my calcium, but I keep forgetting to take the box out of the cupboard to give myself that visual cue. Agh. Also, once I hit 36 weeks I'll start eating dates, which aren't exactly a supplement, but have been shown to speed things along.

Bonus: @Fauxpa Yes--the Holy Hell feelings are real! Like...the bigger this baby gets the more I realize it's going to have to come out of me one way or another. Yikes. But actually, I have been getting more and more excited about labor. Just being able to find the strength within myself to push through it (ha, literally!) and feel that sense of accomplishment at the end, when I can hold my son in my arms and call myself a mother. Wow. It's crazy even to think about now.

2 - same old same old symptoms. I bought a swivel cushion for my car so I can get in and out while keeping my pelvis stable. It helps some.  Belly is much bigger and shirts are shorter so I'm going to have to pick up more maternity wear.
3 - just the prenatal and DHA when I remember.
    Bonus -
I'm excited to see how it all unfolds. I know how the pain is going to be, but there are still so many variables. I think the biggest excitement is just "when" labor will start.
  • 1. 26+1
    2. This has been a good week, except for yesterday. I was just completely exhausted, like I had been up for 24 hours straight or something. It was so bizarre. I hope that didn't mark the end of my 2nd trimester energy. Today has been good though, but it's still early. I also seem like I've gotten huge overnight.
    3. I've just been taking the prenatals and an iron supplement, nothing else too fancy.

Bonus - I also have gotten more excited about labor. One thing that I think about is how happy I am that I'm sharing that experience with my boyfriend. I'm interested to see how he will act during it - I'm sure he's going to be cracking jokes the whole time to keep me laughing. But yeah, I just can't imagine how this thing is actually going to come out, it's totally crazy to me.

  • 1 - How far along are you? 23 weeks

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week?
Its been an ok week, at my in laws in a too small bed and not sleeping well, hip pain, a bit emotional... Otherwise fine.

3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!)

I take a prenatal, vit d (I'm deficient), b complex, and cal/mag religiously because if I don't I can't poo! True story. And I'll probably start floradex (or whatever that's called) here soon.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

Im in the "oh dear! This baby has to come out!!!" camp. I will most likely change my tune at about 34 weeks and end up being in the camp that says "oh dear! Id do anything to not go weeks overdue!!! Bring it!"

Due December 27th with baby #7

  • So this is my first time participating in this thread. I've been reading it weekly, but have decided to go ahead and jump on board. That being said, I'm not going to beat myself up if med-free doesn't happen with my l&d.

I've been reading a lot and now that I have the opportunity to switch providers (my OB is quitting my current practice and will be done in November) I've decided to move over to a certified midwives center that is partnered with our hospital - so I'll still deliver at the same place.

I feel that it's just a better fit for me and my goals with this pregnancy. I'm also finding that my beliefs in regards to pregnancy and prenatal care are more aligned with midwifery rather than the medical/obstetrics approach. Maybe it's just been my experience with this pregnancy so far, but I don't feel as though my OB's practice looks at pregnancy from a holistic approach, and that is very important to me.

    Any who!

1 - How far along are you? 23 weeks
2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? great! only got sick twice and I think the measures we've put in place to help relieve morning sickness are finally all working together
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) not unless you count the b-6 complex that I take 3x daily. I use lavender essential oil 2x per day to alleviate anxiety symptoms, but it isn't ingested (rub one drop on my chest in the morning and 2-3 spritz on my pillows and sheets at night)

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)? Labor and delivery has been the one area of pregnancy that I feel truly confident. I'm anxious to see how my body transitions into labor because this will be my first, but I feel like no matter how I end up delivering this little girl, I'll get through it and in the end she'll be here.

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Pretty well! I've had two full days of being able to power through farm work, which hasn't been the case in a while. I'm feeling pretty crazy though after going off my antidepressant.
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!)
I take my prenatal, fish oil, and magnesium every day. Planning to start drinking raspberry leaf tea soon.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

Yes, most of the time. I'm excited to see what my body and mind can do, and I'm excited for DH and I to experience it together (in different ways obvs).
  • 1.  I am 28 weeks, 4 days along.
    2.  I'm really feeling my belly swell and become taut this week!  I have also begun to be able to see kicks from the outside, which is fun!
    3.  I'm taking a large handful of vitamins in the exact dosages recommended in a book about eating for your pregnancy week by week.  I'm also taking baby aspirin :-)
Bonus: I was terrified of labor for a long time, but now I'm far more worried about being ready, receiving good care, and being a good mother.  After reading about it, I think that my body will probably know what it's doing.

  • 1 - How far along are you? 26 weeks 3 days
2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Pretty good, I've been able to sleep all the past two nights so that's progress!
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? (Note: It's not advisable add anything to your routine without clearing it with your midwife or OB!) I'm taking a prenatal vitamin, a DHA supplement and a baby aspirin daily. But that's it.

  • 1 - How far along are you? 27 weeks, 3 days
2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week? Eh, it's ok. I'm having more hip pain, which is making sleep difficult. Starting to see some swelling. And DH pissed me off last night, hormones aren't really helping with that one - been crying off and on ever since.
3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy? If so, which ones, when and why? I take prenatals, DHA, and vitamin D - pretty basic pregnancy stuff, I think.

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)? I am pretty freaked out by labor, actually.
  • 1 - How far along are you?
26 weeks (ok 25 weeks and 5 days but I always round up)

2 - Overall, how is pregnancy going this week?
Cake. Actually I think I'm just thinking about cake. No discomfort, but I definitely failed on the exercising and eating green stuff goals I had.

3 - Are you taking any natural supplements during pregnancy?
Nope, just the pre-natals and some doctor approved pro-biotics (I'm prone to yeast infections during pregnancy)

Bonus: This may seem like a strange question but - I find myself getting really excited for labor often as well. Anyone else? If so, what about labor are you excited for (other than the baby prize)?

I remember with my first delivery feeling curious about labor and overall feeling pretty confident and excited.  I've alway liked physical challenges and this was going to be another level of pushing myself and seeing what I was capable of.

Now that I have gone through it I am less "excited" for the second time, but also feel more secure knowing what to expect.  @slartybartfast I think we had similar experiences with pro-longed labor also known as "failure to progress".  If what they say is true (that the second delivery goes faster) and I progress at a normal rate then I think there's a good chance I'll be able to do it med free.  But after a difficult delivery last time (3 days of labor) I'm at peace either way.
