Morning sickness encouragement

Just wanted to encourage those in the worst weeks of MS now. My EDD is early in the month (I'm almost 12 weeks) and I'm finally starting to feel less nausea!!! And I'm starting to eat some normal meals again. This is my third baby and I've had it the same each time. Even though I've done it 2x before, it's still been hard (esp weeks 8-10). I was barely able to go to work and watch my kids just 2 weeks ago. So things can change- have hope!! Hope everyone feels better soon as this first trimester is almost over!

Re: Morning sickness encouragement

  • Thanks!! I'm 11 weeks, 2 days and I had one day where I felt great over the weekend, I started to get excited, and then my evening nausea worsened this week and I've been frustrated.  Hopefully it's a sign things might be changing for the better overall.....

@PattersRN  We have the same EDD and I'm the same - I get a good day and celebrate it leaving, then it hits me like a truck the next day!

  • I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and am so happy that the nausea is starting to subside. I had a great Saturday and then a great yesterday and today. This may sound crazy, but giving up processed carbs recently (breads, baked goods, chips, cereal) has made ALL the difference in the world for me. EXCITED!
  • I'm 11+2 and I think it has finally subsided too...still not much of an appetite in the mornings but I haven't felt nauseous the last couple of days. Almost to the end of the first trimester ladies!!

  • Evenings are by far the hardest for me. I'm 11+2 and I keep telling myself I've made it through 6 weeks of this- I can handle one or two more. Please let it only be one or two more....
  • @PattersRN and @nicklesb I am on the same boat as you...Saturday I was cleaning, motivated, and went to brunch! I hope it was a flash forward to the future and each day gets better - but the evening nausea is no joke.
  • Same here, girls! So much energy and I'm back to eating meat and vegetables for the last week :) Hopefully, this continues for all of us!

I'm at 12+1 and I second @Linds1083 ! It's gotten much better for me as time passes!! This is my third too, but mine has gotten worse each pregnancy. I was throwing up every day sometimes all day long, now I feel the nausea on a lighter scale and only throw up a few times a week. May not sound that great but better is better in my opinion!
  • Thank you for posting this!!
  • I was just talking to my sister in law about this. I am 8:4 and I have been nauseated all day. I feel like its bad at night when I'm trying to sleep. I just said that if I can make it a few more weeks I should be good.

  • I had the same experience as you. Weeks 8-10 were the worst, week 11 was a toss-up (felt good on some days, bad on others) and now in week 12 I have felt fine. Glad things are starting to look up for others! To everyone still waiting, the end is in sight.

  • Thank you for this. I've had it pretty easy so far. But, just this week I can't stop throwing up and I'm getting terrible headaches everyday. I need this to end.

  • If it helps anybpdy, just when I thought that things were getting worse, things got better. My absolute worst day of keeping nothing down was followed by a day where I only puked twice, and then once, and now it's pretty tolerable.
  • @Knottie1470518192 that was me week 8 and into 9- I was eating all night just long because of the nausea. So not fun, and exhausting because you spend the night awake. Hang in there, it's going to get better soon!!
  • Same here. Things were looking super bleak around weeks 7-8 (see: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12683661/so-sick/p1), but as the weeks have gone on I've started to be able to function more normally & feel less disgusting.

Also, I've started having food cravings which are kind of fun!

  • Thank you for posting this! So great to hear that so many of you are starting to feel more like yourself! I'm 9+1 (due end of March) and I feel like I'm in the worst of it. I have had to work from home the past few weeks (luckily that's available to me) because I just throw up with no warning all day. It can be rather alarming. I can barely remember what it feels like to have energy or not be nauseated but I am hopeful that I will be looking back on this from the other side in just a few weeks!
  • My worst weeks were definitely 8&9 . I know not everyone is the same.  But hormone levels usually peak around these weeks which causes the nausea, so there is a light coming at the end of the tunnel. Keep up the good fight ladies! You're doing great! This shall pass!
  • my worse weeks were also about 7-9.5 ish. 10-11.5 (today) it has be ok so far *knock on wood* I do get a little queasy at night. Im hoping it will pass over all together soon. Food aversion are def still there though.

hope everyone else gets better soon.

It def has not been "Like a light bulb" situation. One day at a time is what I always tell myself.

  • I've been nauseous since the day of my BFP. But its been manageable as long as I take my unisom+B6 and eat frequently.

However, last night I almost died. I couldn't eat and was just laying on the couch rocking back and forth. DH made an emergency ginger ale run (which helped a lot). I got through the worst of it by chewing on some ginger gum. It doesn't last long, but it does give some pretty immediate relief. Still not feeling well this morning.

I'm hoping this is the peak (9+3 today) and it settles back down quickly.

  • @RunBooRun I think we have the same due date and are on the same nausea timeline. Praying it will be relenting soon! Good luck!

I wish!! Last time with DD I had severe MS through my entire pregnancy, hardly went 1 day without puking....this time around it's so far the same, so we'll see if it ends this time! but if it doesn't oh well, i'll be used to it again LOL

  • My morning sickness is back with a vengeance at 12 weeks, after almost 3 weeks of bliss.  I thought b6 + unisom was the miracle combo but couldn't stop puking last night after all day nausea.  And now I feel like crap. Oh well.

I tried to take it as a nice little reminder that all is well (I know that's not really how it works, but I'll take whatever reassurance I can get).
  • Back with a vengeance tonight with a migraine that is pounding now..I threw up so much. More than ever :(

  • This last week seems to be the worst for me so far. I am 11+3. I have only thrown up twice so far total so guess I am lucky. Feel nauseous on and off all day long. The being hungry yet nauseous feeling is not very fun! Please let this be over soon. More and more foods I cannot eat because as I am chewing it makes me want to gag! Urghhhh! Please be over soon.

  • @missmckee83 I think we are due around the same time and this week has been horrible for me too :( with my first it was tapering off by now. Hoping this is the last bad week, but getting worried it's not ending anytime soon  :(
  • @Ivorytower2 thank you for the encouragement! Glad I am not the only one. Maybe it's because I have two of them in there that it's lasting so long.

  • Sorry to hear all of you with MS still going strong and/or returning. I didn't even gag today and it was amazing! Fingers crossed that there are many more good days in my future

  • I am extremely jealous reading this thread. I'm at 11w5d and haven't had a significant break at all in my MS. It started almost immediately, and if anything has only gotten worse. Last night I was awake until 2 am puking.

I think the women who have MS all pregnancy long are superwomen. I'm terrified that I might be fated to be one of those women, and I don't have superpowers. How does one survive 6 more months of this?!?
  • @DaniBanani16 I agree. I had it through my whole pregnancy twice. It was terrible. I never got used to it but once I gave birth, it stopped and I was so relieved. This time it felt like it was getting worse each day and then on Friday (week 13 exactly) I was finally able to eat a meal and didn't throw up. I'm still nauseous but it's nothing compared to last week. Let's hope that yours drops the minute you enter the second trimester too!
