just seeing if anyone out there has one, and if so, how your pregnancy is going. Mine is considered a partial bicornate, I've had 2 unrelated losses so far, and some slight bleeding this weekend.
@elizaanne I do have a bicornate uterus...it's also partial. So far things are fine for me. Last time intense pain set in around 26 weeks when things started to stretch, so I'm not looking forward to that. My son was born early at 35 weeks, and my doctor suspects this one will be born early as well, so I'm trying to mentally prepare for a possible NICU stay, etc.
@KellyT22 is preterm birth common for bicornate uterus? Most of my drs have seemed entirely unconcerned with mine, which a little bit worries me. (Especially after 2 losses.)
@elizaanne I'm not totally sure how common preterm birth is for bicornate uteruses, but I did read once that it happens to about 25% of us. We didn't know about it last time, but this time my doctor isn't very concerned. She does think I'll be early, probably between 35 and 38 weeks, but doesn't think there is any proven benefit to doing progesterone shots or bed rest. Baby basically just runs out of room.
My son was transverse for most of my pregnancy, but went head down around 34 weeks. His back, butt, and legs were way over on my right side though. It was painful for weeks.
Unfortunately, during my labor he was having heart decelerations, and I had to have a stat C-section. This was totally unrelated to my uterus. My doctor was confident that physically I could have had a vaginal birth. This time my doctor is very supportive of trying for a VBAC and is confident I will be able to do that if I want. Definitely won't go totally natural though...I heart epidurals.
My best advice is to plan on really relaxing from 30ish weeks on (or sooner if things get painful...hopefully they don't). And I know it's easier said than done, but trust that you CAN have a normal pregnancy and delivery.
