I do!! My LO can sit in it for a few mins at a time so far. He likes to sit up and see things so I'm all for it. I have the one that has the tray for eating which will come in handy when we travel to my parents and grandparents house.
Funny, I posted this picture earlier in another thread. This is the mamas&papas seat. The activity tray comes off and the "regular" tray (for food?) is underneath. He sat in it for the first time today.
I have mixed feelings about the Bumbo. My sister had the Mega Seats for her twins and I hated them because it was so hard to get the tray on and off. I'm not sure our decision yet but I'm thinking we are going to pass. We have a pretty nice high chair that has a removable seat that will sit on its own so I think that will work out similar.

I work in early childhood with physical therapists, and they warn against the Bumbo for little ones because it can interfere with the natural progression of motor development. In a Bumbo, a baby is not using any muscles to hold him or herself up: the Bumbo is doing it for them. So these muscles are not getting practice to develop. It can also position the body incorrectly so that head and spine alignment is not achieved. I can see it as a way to feed baby or provide activity like shown above, but I personally would just continue to help them develop their own strength to sit independently by doing tummy time, practicing rolling over, etc.

This! I personally don't want one for this reason. I have a regular high chair that we will use once he can sit on his own but for the next few months he will continue to sit in the rock n play while we eat. We help him practice using his core muscles while he sits on our laps. We put a toy in front of him and he tries to do sit ups to reach it so we will help him out and out a hand behind his lower back so he can use his hands to grab the toy.
A friend gave me hers but it's sitting in a closet and I'm in no rush to use it. We have a nice high chair when the time comes for solids and we have an exersaucer for play later too. We didn't use the boppy or anything else to prop up our first either, just on our laps. He sat when he learned to sit and before that he reclined in a bouncer or lay on a floor mat when not being held.
This is us exactly! He is 8 weeks old and at his appt this past week doc mentioned he could start using one if we had. I guess she throws that in there for those who use it. I don't have one and I'll probably pass on getting one after thinking it over.
We skipped bumbo and got the fisher price sit me up. We love it so much more than I ever liked the bumbo with my first! We started using it at 8 weeks.
It definitely does! The box says up to 25lbs. Bumbo says up to 30lbs, but Im not sure if that's the original little bumbo or the bigger one with the tray?
Yeah it says up to 25 and to not use when they can walk. So many of my friends posted about how awesome it was, so it was one of the first things I bought when I found out I was pregnant! It's so cool, and folds up easily to take places!
We have the mamas and papas from my first and plan to use it around 3 months like I did with my first. I don't think they hinder development. My first used one and he was on track for rolling over, sitting up, and walking. I think everything in moderation. I wouldn't put my child in it all day but short time links are fine.
I just have a small house and I'm trying to keep purchases to multipurpose type things and things that can grow with him at least to some extent.i just wonder if the sit me up would be engaging enough to not have to also get a exersaucer.

The sit me up is a totally different development time than an excersaucer. We have an exersaucer and the box explicitly says only use when your kid can sit up unassisted. The goal of it is to let them use their legs to kind of stand unassisted while playing. The sit me up is earlier, designed to help a baby who wouldn't be able to otherwise sit up do so (hence the name...). I wouldn't get a sit me up in lieu of an exersaucer because it doesn't do anywhere near the same thing. That would be like getting a bumbo instead of an exersaucer.
We have both. The sit me up folds so nicely to be stored away. And the exersaucer is a completely different toy/play. Maybe you could find a b/s/t page and fine an exersaucer closer to being able to use it for cheap. That's what I did. I paid 15 for a perfect condition one
