Bitchfest - Week 8/22

Since Monday has passed but there's always shenanigans to bitch about...let's hear it. #dontholdback

Re: Bitchfest - Week 8/22

  • A 3-hour errand with baby has got me so beat up that I am just tired at life. I instantly wanted to escape the moment we got home.

    *Super long bitchfest warning*

    1. We went to an indirect dealer of Verizon (which we found out the hard way) to upgrade my mom's cellphone while she's in town. The rep was this old dude who repeatedly asked us for the acct. owner's phone # & passcode or last 4 digits of Social Sec. It took a hot second for us to find out who that was (me and my brother) but long story short, he wasn't able to log into his system to check if my mom was due for an upgrade. He suggested I call Verizon customer service while we are at the store but he was very rude to us while I was on the phone with the rep from the actual Verizon customer service. She overheard the man in the background, asked me to put her on the phone with him. He was rude to her too. I got my phone back from him and she told me to leave that store as it's not an actual Verizon store. She also then filed a report internally on such poor customer service so Verizon can follow up with that store's manager directly.

We walked out of there but I noticed that store had a legit Verizon Wireless logo and name as their sign. I was still on the phone w Verizon rep and she reported that too as indirect dealers should have their own store name. She suggested I go to the next closest Verizon store providing me with an address and apologizing for what we just experienced.

    2. We go to the actual Verizon store 2 miles down and the rep there asks to see my ID as one of the acct. owners. Well fk, all I had was a diaper bag on me without my ID of course. She then said my brother was the head acct. owner and he had to reply to an email to authorize a phone upgrade for my mom. Mind you, he's in another state. It took forever to reach him on the phone and he finally replied to that email.

    3. All ok to proceed to an upgrade: My mom chooses her phone and asks how much it all will be. $199 for iphone 6s, 16 gb. $40 for upgrade fee. Total: $240

Well, this didn't sound "right" to my mom. We checked with my bro in IL and he said at their local store back at home, they don't have to pay $40. At this point, baby A started wailing as she was hungry. Mom couldn't decide whether to go through and upgrade here or go back to IL and upgrade. With baby crying, DH left the store and tried to calm baby by holding her.

I grew inpatient by the min and told my mom to do this when she returns. We left the store and I got in the car to breastfeed baby.

    3. DH & mom wanted to pick up some groceries while I breastfed. They took forever. I got upset and annoyed by the time we wasted and the effort we put into the phone upgrade. Double that annoyance when they returned! Baby A's nursing was disturbed and shortlived as DH put her back in the car seat to return home.

    4. Usually, baby calms down when the car is moving but we're in DC. Rush hour doesn't just go away after 6 PM. And every light we approached was red. Baby basically cried the entire way home. Paci didn't work at all. Imagine 30 mins of this in the car, not moving a whole lot.

All home now and mom took over giving baby my pumped milk as I climb into my bed, door closed.

To say that I am tired is an understatement. It bothers me when people in customer service area know nothing about it. Not only is the dude from #1 getting a report filed from Verizon directly but also getting a nasty review on Yelp & Google. There's never a dull moment when family visits. I appreciate the visits esp. since we live so far away but man, do they tire me out. DH & I are tense from tonight's little adventure. I may have blown up at him earlier on why he just stood there while the guy was being so rude to us. Lesson of the day: Don't be an idiot like me and forget your ID when you go out. Since baby A's arrival, I never really carry my wallet as I run errands with DH and his wallet usually contains all that we need for these errands.

  • It took 1 hr to get DS from school, from the time I left peanut to when we returned thanks to traffic even though town is barely 10 min away. Five minutes into the trip and the girls are sweating. Seriously?! To make matters worse peanut fell asleep after barely eating for 4 min, so I was engorged. By the time we got home my nursing bra was soaked and chafing under each breast. Gross.
  • @AliKay20 I don't know how you didn't have a melt down after that trip. I'm tired just imagining it!

  • My doctor put me on a blood thinner shot once a day for 6 weeks due to having a blood clotting disorder. She wrote a prescription for 16 mL of medicine that come in .4 mL doses,so 40 shots. We went to fulfil the prescription and he gave me 16 shots. I looked at it again and told them they got it wrong, I needed all 40. He told me he had to call my doctor because it was such a high dosage. Like he knows better than my doctor without knowing my history. We go back in a couple days later and he tells me he called my doctor and yep, I needed all 40, but the doctor just wrote the perscription in a confusing way. Except my doctor wasn't in the office when he says he called, she was on call at the hospital. So basically instead of admitting he made a mistake and apologizing he lied and blamed my doctor. If our prescriptions weren't so cheap at this pharmacy I would switch. Guess I'll be triple checking anything I pickup since I an read a perscription better than the pharmacist.

Also, last pregnancy I didn't catch it. I thought my doctor shortened the time to take them. I'm fuming that I missed 4 weeks of shots because he couldn't read a perscription (same guy fulfilled it last time). Blood clots are nothing to mess around with.

I was too tired to...and also reading back, I cannot believe I made the error on "impatient" as "inpatient" (like really? They mean two completely different things) but even after I realize this, IDGAF to go back and edit.
  • Hiccups are of the devil. Everytime I get him laid down, he gets the hiccups and wakes up pissed off.

@AliKay20, I'm also worn out from being out of the house.  On Saturday, Monday,  Wednesday,  and also tomorrow we had appointments in the closest bigger city (1 hour each way) - two appointments each day.  DH is back to work so I'm on my own this week. SO exhausting!

Yesterday I got home and was rejuvenated by the recent success we had when MIL called to say to check the weather.  Tornado headed for our area.  DH called and said to pack up the baby and stuff and he was coming to get us to leave the area. I put the baby in the carseat in the most central closet of the house while waiting.

Thankfully both our current and future home are okay and we are safe but several large buildings between are completely destroyed.  That extra drama wore me completely out!

Also,  grab a few essentials has a whole new meaning when you have a baby!

    Edited:  words are hard
  • I did not take this picture,  but it is a few miles from us!  Eeeekk!!!
  • @nikkoli98 oh my goodness, glad you are all ok!
  • @Nikkoli98 how scary! I'm glad you guys stayed safe! We've been lucky not to have any since lo was born, but we got stuck camping near one earlier this summer. We watched it form over the campgrounds.
    Are you in Michigan?
  • I completely lost my cool this morning-- DD (3 years old) has been getting up for the day at 4:30-5 am all week and today was no exception.  We've been working on setting limits with her so that she knows that at certain times, it is sleep time and we won't get up and play.  She can read the clock numbers and she knows that at 5:30 am she can watch the iPad in her room, and at 6:15 she can have a snack (that we bring her) and at 6:30 I will get up out of bed for the day.

Well, she was having none of it this morning and spent the entire 90 minutes from 5-6:30 being completely wretched.  Screaming, crying, hitting, banging on our locked door.. etc.  I must have gotten in and out of my bed 15 times (no easy feat at this stage of pregnancy), all while DH dozed.  He got out of bed twice in the same time span.

By 6:30 I was ready to drop them both off at a bus station somewhere.

  • This week has been crazy. dH had a virus with a 102 fever so he has been no help, plus he locked me and the LO out of the house by accident.  Had to wait for a locksmith with hungry baby in running car in driveway. Add to that no sleep because LO cries all night makes this a tired mom.
  • @AliKay20 ugh, that would have sent me over the edge, especially since it ended without getting the upgrade. I can't stand feeling like I've wasted time!
I ended up getting a phone case with a built in wallet when I had DS1, so I could just throw that in the diaper bag, because I was always forgetting my wallet. It was a lifesaver!

@Fremdschamen my DH also sleeps through our kids screaming/crying. This morning, I was up breastfeeding DS2 and DS1 was calling for us, and I basically punched DH to get him to wake up and go deal with DS1. It drives me crazy that he can just sleep right through it!!

@Nikkoli98 wow, that picture says it all! So glad y'all are safe.

@Bookhousegirl I felt so defeated! That's a good idea - I have a Mophie phone case though which I swear by as I am always on my phone, sucking out my battery life in an instant. I'm still going to look into getting the wallet case as I can switch it out if I'm running out for errands! Thanks :) This is why I love TB community - I especially love all the tips and hacks coming from STM's and beyond! ;)
  • @ginger819 that happened to my mom. She was taking steroids prior to a CAT scan since she is allergic to the contrast dye. The pharmacy substituted a lower dose pill, and gave her more... And didn't change the instructions, so the dosage was wildly off. Good thing CAT scans are done in hospitals, she had a life threatening reaction.
I love the way doctors give you a visit summary now with everything spelled out... Pharmacies are not infallible! Glad you caught it!

  • @Allisun85 That would be scary. Luckily my perscription is just a precaution. I've never had a blood clot, just know I have a genetic disorder so my chances are higher. DH works with this pharmacist, though, and it's not the first time he's acted like he knows more than the doctors or messed up a prescription. It makes me mad to think of people who get the prescriptions they absolutely NEED messed up.
  • We had DD like 99.9% potty trained just before baby was born last week. Since we've been home, it's like she forgotten everything. It doesn't seem like a call for attention or maybe I'm just missing something. It's mainly during nap times and bedtime, which we never had an issue with before so it's annoying that it's coming up now. She's pissing everywhere. We've gone back to the original reward methods to try and get back on track. DH is really losing his patience with her though and I'm pretty sure it's not helping. She literally starts peeing her pants and says, potty. Oh noooooooo wet! Ugh so frustrating.

  • @justaudrey - so frustrating but extremely common.  The pediatrician told us to expect it even though dd1 has been day trained for almost a year.  She just turned two in April and has pretty much been night time trained since then but I have kept her in diapers at night.  I am fully expecting a regression and didn't want to pull the nighttime diapers just to put her back in them.  I have been told it doesn't usually last long if you are able to push through it but that in itself is a task. Good luck!
  • @Sekerambo I hope it's quick! DH wants to throw in the towel and put her back in diapers. I said oh no, I spent too much time training her to just give up now.

  • Our DS turned 3 in June and we still can't get him to use the potty.  He showed interest and understood the concept when he was 2, and has been using it on and off for a year, but never consistently enough to not wear diapers or pull-ups.  It's beyond frustrating.  Everyone (including the pediatrician) tells us to not push it and he'll do it when he's ready... He's just very stubborn. We've also been warned the he likely would have had a regression anyway with the new baby, so apparently that is very common.
  • DS had had some regression with potty training, too. He wouldn't stop what he was doing to go pee. Then he would start to pee, realize he was getting his underwear wet, and tell us he had an accident. Luckily, it only happened a handful of times. We started pushing using the potty more and he's back to no accidents.

@Fremdschamen maybe your daughter is acting out because the LO is coming sooner rather than later.  ;)
  • Ok before I start please note that my bitch is NOT the part that I get to go on a mini staycation. I'm forever grateful for that part.

Ok, so we are going on a mini staycation this weekend to a place locally with our family, and I've been looking forward to it. Well here I am day of and my throat is sore and has that annoying itch in the back of my throat. Which means that cocktail or glass of wine I've so been looking forward to will not happen most likely considering it will most likely make me tired and make me feel even more yuck. Boo wtf karma. I wanted a drink on my mini vacation by the pool! This hotel recently had a water park built in with a swim up bar and while I obviously am not trying to get wasted I did want to have one swim up bar moment.

    Ugh.
  • DS1 had a potty regression a few weeks before A got here. We were starting to get the house baby-ready and installed the car seat base, etc. he had several accidents at school and home. It's gotten better (now he just seeks more attention) but it was definitely new baby related.
  • I hope so, @ashleybaker712!

  • I cut dairy out of my diet because I thought it might be causing baby's gas pains. I'm pissed that it seems to be working. He's still a stinky gassy little boy, but it doesn't seems nearly as painful and it's not even been a week yet. I still eat an occasional piece of cheese or bakery items that probably contain dairy, but no milk, cheese for snack, real coffee creamer, or sour cream. I desperately love all those things. And I went to the liquor store and bought a bottle of chocolate wine. Probably not on the dairy free list, but I'm going to live dangerously tonight. Date night out kid free turned into date night at home with the kids cause mil is sick
  • @huskymama725 That works in the winter, but DD is too smart in the summer.  She lifts up the blinds and says "The sun IS up, mommy!"  She's also figured out which buttons to press to make the sun come up on her Groclock so she can tell me it is morning.
