Convertible Car Seat

I am probably late to the party on this topic, but Piper has been teeny enough for the bucket until now. Nana has graciously offered to gift one to her for her birthday. I don't want her to spend more than $200, but I want a seat that:

-Converts from RF to FF with 5 point harness, and can be RF for up to 2 years (I think that's the law in all states now), and can also convert to a high back booster & then just a booster for when she gets much older.
-Has adjustable reclining positions
-Isn't bulky (sometimes all 3 kids need to sit in the backseat bench, no 3rd row)
-Obviously something safe

From my research, it looks like I could have started off with a convertible. I'll keep this in mind for the future ;) Though the bucket worked well with our travel system.

I have one in mind, but I'd like to know what other people are doing & why, to help me make a decision. What are you mommies using for your *gasp* one year olds?!

Thank in advance.

  • We have the Graco 4-ever and really like it.

  • The best place to ask would be "carseats for the littles" on facebook. They have technicians that are trained to give out the kind of info.
  • The only one I know of that meets those qualifications is the Graco 4-Ever. Although I don't know how small it is

100%! There are so many variables including what kind of car you have, your budget, who rides in the car, and height and weight of LO. The wonderful techs and advocates can give you personalized recommendations based on all of these factors. They also have a website with a list of recommended seats and other car seat education info - www.csftl.org

  • We have a Evenflo Platinum Protection Series 3 in 1. I have a PT cruiser and it fits great in the back seat. It was the best one I found. It was a little more expensive but you can get them on sale.
  • I 3rd the graco 4-ever. It can run anywhere from 250-300$ depending if you can find a good sale but it meets all those requirements. Since you get so much use out of it with the different options it was worth the price for us.
