NEED BABYMOON IDEAS!!!

I loooove to go to the Caribbean and Mexico (cheap, easy flights) but we obviously can't. Where else can we go? I'm a teacher, so we need to go December 25-Jan 1. I don't really want to travel internationally, because it seems silly to sit on a plane for 6-8 hours and adjust to a time change for a short 7 day trip. My husband doesn't ski, and I don't plan to while pregnant. I feel like the focus should be relaxing and spending quality time together, rather than whirlwind sightseeing, which is more our MO haha.

I was thinking...
1. Northern California (never been)
2. Canada (never been)
3. Somewhere scenic with a awesome amenities
4. Somewhere cold with awesome hot springs (can I go in those?!)

GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS LADIES!!!!

I'd say anywhere in the winter with a cute lodge or b&B that looks awesome and super cozy  :) evening fireplace cuddles, spa day, shopping, low key local sight seeing... Lots of options for this in the US, I adore New England! But if you want to check Canada off your list -Vancouver, Quebec City,  Toronto, Montreal... Are all very solid city options in Canada. Beautiful in winter
  • We are in FL so we are always looking for cold weather/non-beach vacations. When I was pregnant with my daughter we went to Washington DC. It was awesome, checked out all the museums and there were so many great places to eat. This time we are planing to go to a bed and breakfast in the Smoky Mountains. We plan to do a little hiking, fishing and sitting down doing nothing :)
I'm looking forward to other people's suggestions!
Oh as far as hot springs, I think the temp needs to be under 100.
  • Maybe Hawaii? I think that's the best time to go.
  • I vote for Northern Cali.  I was going to suggest Montreal, until I saw your target dates.  It will be cold AF.

It's a slight shame to not be able to drink wine in Northern Cali (although you could taste and spit if you're into that, it would be torture for me) but there are so many other things to do out there and the weather is mild.  Hikes, beautiful drives through redwood forests, the SF aquarium, museums, and the SF food scene is amazing.

I'm not sure about hot springs.  I know there are some in AZ & NM...I think the issue with hot tubs is raising your body temp above normal.  I'm not an expert on that, maybe speak to your OB if you decide on that.
  • Lake Louise in Canada looks awesome.  Or I know you said you didn't want to do international, but you could go to Reykjavik and (hopefully!) see the Northern Lights AND there are hot springs there!

  • @mcdonald-bailey we loved hawaii!! @antarctica where are you lcoated? Hawaii is 3 hours behind west coast though and 6 behind east coast. Although I can say coming from the east coast that actually worked in our favor because we never adjusted to the time change and just got up early and were able to enjoy more of each vacation day. The flight did seem long though so that would be my main concern. I'd vote NorCal or maybe a cute b&b in the smoky mountains maybe? Gatlinburg or Nashville seem like nice scenic spots. Even Savannah a little further south.

  • Just vouching for Canada over here... If you came to the west coast you could do Vancouver, Victoria, Whistler, Banff, Jasper, Canmore. It is beautiful (maybe slightly chilly in some of those towns) during that time!

Warm location I would also vouch for Hawaii (did Kauai last and loved it!).
  • Northern California is lovely. And there are so many places to go: the beach, the redwoods, wine country.  Also, Park City, Utah is beautiful in the fall or you could go in the winter and just relax at a nice resort.  We are hoping to go to Moab, Utah in October so that it's not crazy hot.  We plan to go on some beautiful hikes through Arches National Park and enjoy the restaurants and the beautiful scenery.

I've lived all along the West Coast. Portland, OR is great if you love food and nature. I have a list of recommendations. Northern Cali is always beautiful - Sonoma, the vineyards, even if you can't drink, is still super beautiful. I love to go through glampinghub.com to check out NorCal places to glamp. There's hot springs in Palm Springs, not sure if we can do that or hot those are? Cabo San Lucas is a 2 hour flight from Los Angeles as well.

  • Sedona, AZ - great emphasis on healing and plenty of places for a prenatal massage.

We have a place in Cabo but had to cancel our trip there this year with Zika. Not sure your doctor will clear you to go there. It's coastal and warm enough for mosquitos even in January.

I've been looking into the mountains of NC for ours. When we moved to New Orleans from the east coast, I loved my drive through there.
  • I was in Sedona, AZ that time of year (not on a babymoon) but the weather was great. Dry, highs in the 70's, lots to see and also very relaxing. You could drive to Grand Canyon or Phoenix to split the time. By that point in your pregnancy, it may not feel good to be hot or on a warm beach. I say this because I made this mistake when planning our babymoon before our first child. I couldn't enjoy the beach (I typically love hot weather) because my hands would swell and I'd start feel light headed. It was disappointing because we had envisioned a relaxing by the pool/ocean trip.

We are going out to CO in early October. This is our 3rd so had to do the babymoon early due to scheduling with grandparents.

If you decide NorCal, highly suggest SF where you can grab a bowl of clam chowder served in a fresh sourdough bread bowl, walk around Pier 39, take pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge as your back drop at Baker Beach, eat amazing Italian food in the North Beach district and have dim sum in China Town. This list goes on.

Union Square is a MUST during Christmas! And I highly recommend getting tickets to the Nutcarcker to see the World Famous San Francisco Ballet perform at the Opera House.

For hotels: Sir Francis Drake is really nice and it's located in Union Square. Walking distance to the Christmas tree, outdoor ice rink and all the shops. You can Uber or Lyft to the pier, North Beach and China Town.
  • Come to Canada !!
Check out Whistler or Tofino. Both are beautiful and relaxing.
  • The weather in Palm Springs CA is nice that time of year if you want a warmer resort atmosphere. If you come to SF and want to splurge I recommend Cavallo Point Lodge. They have a nice heated body temp pool under the redwoods with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. We do get lots of rain at that one of year.
  • WOW! So may suggestions ladies. Thank you! I cant wait to start planning. My husband really went for the Hawaii idea, and SF sounds lovely! I actually considered Iceland... I've always wanted to see the northern lights. When i was young i thought the lights from nyc were them haha
