How big is baby:

Upcoming appointments this week:

Any new symptoms or changes:

Rants/Raves:

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning?

Re: Wednesday ticker 8-24

  • I am 11 weeks!

    Baby is a lime

I have an ultrasound on Sunday and plan on announcing sometime afterwards :) maybe next Wednesday? I'm somewhat tempted to just wait till 20 weeks to tell the world though

    no new symptoms

everybody is dying :( they say tragedy comes in 3's, well it's coming in 5's where I'm from. Super depressing but it makes me extra grateful to be bringing new life to the world, to balance out the tragedies.

We we are a co-sleeping family. I currently have my 3yo and 18mo in our beds right now so we will be planning their bedroom and then just baby proofing our bed for baby. I always feel kinda sad that I miss out on nursery decorating but the co-sleeping works out so well for us. :/

How far along are you: 11 weeks! wahoo!

How big is baby: a lime

Upcoming appointments this week: no, my next appt. is with my new CNM on sept. 8!

Any new symptoms or changes: no, i've got a wicked head cold so all i'm doing is sneezing and coughing and blowing my stupid stuffy/runny nose every 10 minutes. ugh! still feeling RLP and i don't even recognize my breasts anymore.

Rants/Raves: just so happy and so grateful to of made it this far. i still can't believe it some days, esp. since i don't really look pregnant yet.

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning?  i have ideas for the nursery, and we've been casually looking at furniture, but nothing serious. we've only bought 1 thing: a stuffed whale. i don't think we'll co-sleep, but plans change. i'm planning on having the baby in a bassinet right next to the bed.

  • @ihateusernames* I am sorry for your losses. :( I'm so glad that you have something to celebrate and cherish throughout all that.

@mecoats A Winnie the Pooh nursery sounds cute! Have fun sharing your exciting news with your family! FINALLY, right?

@lindsey2017 That talk of fair food is making me real hungry for elephant ears and corn dogs.

@sammajane19 Sorry about the cold! Feel better soon. Pregnant and sick is so rough, I hope you have someone taking excellent care of you!

    As for me:

I'm 13 weeks, second tri, woohoo!

Baby is the size of a lemon or a clownfish.

    No appointments until mid-September.

No new symptoms, just patiently waiting to show a little. I keep losing weight even without the food aversion.

Rants: After all that hemming and hawing over it, DH and I finally settled on cancelling our Bahaman cruise. Not because of the Bahamas themselves, but because we discovered that the port we would leave from/return to (Port of Miami) is sandwiched right between the two areas of FL that have local Zika transmission. Less than a mile or two of separation on either side. That's way too close for comfort for me. We're trying to decide what else to do with that vacation time.

This is the third baby, so not much planning required. Going to kick our then-to-be three-year-old out of the convertible crib (poor, chewed-on thing that it is) and relocate him to a separate toddler bed in a different room and give his room to the baby. My mom did get us new dressings for the crib/room though. It was a neutral jungle theme (darker browns, greens) for the first two kids. This time it's tans and creams (and I think just a generic teddy-bear type theme).

  • @Bluebird2318 - I usually know fair food, but what are elephant ears???  My hometown's county fair is this week, and we are heading home to enjoy the smell, rides, and food, but I don't think we actually have elephant ears....unless we call it something else.

  • How far along are you: 12w!

How big is baby: size of a plum (TB) or a ripe apricot (Ovia)

Upcoming appointments this week: Had my first appointment with the perinatologist this morning...I guess I'm considered "high risk" because of my chronic hypertension....everything looks great though!  Baby is measuring right on track.  I'm waiting for the nurse to email me the pictures of the ultrasound, and I've graduated to abdominal u/s from transvaginal...woo hoo!

Any new symptoms or changes:  stomach still a bit unsettled without food in it and nips are still sensitive

Rants/Raves: I wish my ILs would chill the eff out...every time they call they ask if we know the sex or ask if they can tell people yet....1) it's a little too early, and 2) we'll let you know when we know and when you can tell people...

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning? nursery all the way

How big is baby: Baby peanut is the size of a lime

Upcoming appointments this week: No appointments till September 7th

Any new symptoms or changes: Feeling way super bloated all the time. I feel like my hands and arms fall asleep so easy lately, not sure if that's normal or a good thing or not.

Rants/Raves: I am just blessed to be pregnant, no rants for me. :)

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning? We plan to keep baby in our room (not our bed) for the first few months.

Sounds delicious! I think we have only had funnel cake at our fairs. And deep fried everything. Ha ha

How big is baby?: a lemon

Any new symptoms: I had the worst headache ever last week, doc says it was a migraine and wrote me a script. Other than that appetite has increased.

Rant/Rave: Got our blood test results, it's a boy

GTKY: nursery planning:  being it's a disney baby, we're going Monsters Inc with most things, a little Mickey and Pooh when there's no Monsters item.
My sister did Monster's inc. with her last baby.  Babies-R-Us has the nursery items, and I found both stuffed animals Sully and Mike at the Disney Store.  (Clearly I love Disney too!)

  • Ok this might be a dumb question but I'm a little confused. All my medical books say that the first tri is <14 weeks and second tri starts at 14w0d....but it sounds like everyone hitting 13 weeks is calling that the second tri. Did I miss something?

    How big is baby: Lemon

    Upcoming appointments this week: None

Any new symptoms or changes: I think my morning sickness is starting to go away finally!

Rants/Raves: I am ready for my body to not be tired all of the time! But we are out of the first trimester so hopefully that we happen soon!

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning?  We will probably move our daughter to her new room soon and into a twin bed and the new babe will just takeover her nursery but will sleep in our room until about 3 months old.
  • @BelcherEars we told DH's parents that if they told anyone before we give them the "okay" that they will not see the child for the first year of its life...hey, it was DH's idea so I didn't argue with him!!

@ngcsugirl1112 I have to say that I love this! It is nice when the son speaks up and handles stuff instead of the daughter in law being the "problem". The very night we told my ILs, my MIL stepped across a line and told us how we needed to do a certain thing when we raised our child (dealing with religion). I didn't have to say a word. DH was literally down her throat reminding her that she was the grandma and not the parent. I didn't have to be the bad guy, so I just sat back and let him do his thing. I will have to say he was a little over the top, but he told me later that he wanted it to be clear where the lines would be drawn (though we both know this will not be the only boundary issue we have with his mother).

  • Sorry I'm not very chatty today. Work has been insane!

How far along are you: 9 weeks

How big is baby:  A cherry or one of my fav things...a TATER TOT!

Upcoming appointments this week:  What I think is my last check at the RE on Friday.

Any new symptoms or changes:  I haven't had that many symptoms.  Things are mostly the same.  Intermittent fatigue, frequent indigestion, frequent headaches, sore side boobs.

Rants/Raves:  PGAL struggling today.  I just have a bad feeling & every other time I have had the bad feeling I have been correct.  I feel like my symptoms are so sporadic and intermittent that maybe something has changed.  I also feel like I got overly optimistic after last week's check and now I am in for it.  I hope I am wrong for once.  I have to wait an extra day until Friday to have my check.  DH's calendar didn't allow for him to go with me if it had been tomorrow.  Boo..hiss.

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning?
     ****TW - Infant death story****
I don't believe in newborns or infants sleeping in beds.  I worked at the medical examiner's office in college as an intern.  After having to go pick up a dead infant at the hospital and watching it's autopsy, I just wouldn't take the chance  ***END TW**

We will keep the baby in our room for the first few months & then hopefully transition them to the nursery.  We have a sitting room in our bedroom which could really function as a nursery with no problem.

@BelcherEars That is so weird because the AMA and ACOG say that it is 14 weeks! I wonder why they don't agree? I was just reading something from ACOG on N&V during the first tri today: (sorry I don't know how to make it less obnoxious)
    https://m.acog.org/Patients/FAQs/Morning-Sickness-Nausea-and-Vomiting-of-Pregnancy

Edited- meant to include the quote I was referring to "Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy usually starts before 9 weeks of pregnancy. For most women, it goes away by the second trimester (14 weeks of pregnancy). For some women, it lasts for several weeks or months. For a few women, it lasts throughout the entire pregnancy."

My boobs are getting bigger and are still super tender. I'm still nauseous, so that's awesome. I've definitely popped, and my bump is super hard. I carry any extra weight in my stomach though, so I mainly just look fatter

  • @SienaC Interesting... From what I've looked up, apparently you actually start second trimester in the middle of week 13 (approximately 13 weeks 3 days), so I guess that is where the confusion comes in.

  • @SienaC My doctor goes by 14 weeks, too. She told me that the first tri would technically end on 13w6d. Most of my family knows already, but I'm trying to keep it off Facebook until 14 weeks. (I have too many work friends on Facebook).

How far along are you:  10 weeks

    How big is baby: Strawberry

Upcoming appointments this week: 2 and a half more weeks...

Any new symptoms or changes: I actually had 2-3 days without morning sickness and I FREAKED out that something was wrong. I read that sometimes symptoms can start and end earlier with twins, but morning sickness ending at 9w3d seemed too good to be true (nausea started at 3w for me!!). Spoiler alert, it was too good to be true! It just took a break and moved to evening sickness.

Rants/Raves: RAVE: I got the Leachco Back n Belly Chic pillow and I feel like my life is complete. It is the first time I've gotten a good sleep since before I got pregnant! Highly recommended if you have a large enough bed (it really does take up 1/2 of my king bed).
RANT: Another week posting after my bed time... I can't wait until my secret is out at work and I can openly bump during the day! :-D

GTKY: nursery planning? Or co-sleeping planning?  Honestly, we're still wrapping our minds around having 2... Going to wait on sexes to pick a nursery theme. Planning on getting this double bassinet/playard for the first few months: https://www.babytrend.com/nursery_centers_deluxe/PY66A06F.html I couldn't find it online ANYWHERE so I emailed the company (lol) and they confirmed it'll be on sale end of next month.

  • @belcherEars yes the bloat is so frustrating. Makes you feel huge and sluggish, and its not even baby. This is my first pregnancy so I will take the good with the bad but man... I just want a real bump already. :)
  • Hi ladies. Sorry I wasn't able to post yesterday, it was a hectic day that involved a scare.

    How far along: 12 weeks

    Size of baby: A plum

upcoming appointments: 1st tri screening next tuesday

rants/raves: **TW--bleeding** So yesterday I was feeling a little off and thought I noticed some very light pink spotting but thought I was being crazy. After lunch I went to the bathroom and had SO much bleeding. I panicked, had a total breakdown and left work. I called my doctor, and they told me to come in for a fetal heart check. All is ok, heartbeat sounded just fine. My raves are for my husband and my doctors office. I work downtown and take a bus to work--and had no way of getting back to my car. I called my husband in tears and he immediately left work to come get me. He was such a rock while I was having a total meltdown. As for my doctor, I switched OBs after too many bad experiences with my old one. I am SO grateful for making that decision. My doctor was out of the office, but the one that was in called me right back and fit me in immediately. They were so sweet and understanding of me being a wreck. It was a very scary experience, but thank god everything is ok. I know bleeding can be normal, but it's scary!!

GTKY: I have some ideas, but it depends on what we are having, so we will start really planning in October!

PS I love all this talk of fair food! Our state fair opens today, and I'm making my husband take me at some point while its here!
