Eating, sleeping, pooping...

Have any of you used an app that you would recommend for recording all of baby's highlights such as eating, sleeping, and pooping? I originally thought we would use just an old fashioned notebook, but my husband likes the idea of an app that we can be "connected" on along with his mom when she starts to watch the baby...

Ive found one -- I'm attaching a pic, but thought I'd ask first.

  • If only my wedding ring (or any ring for that matter) still fit me -- hahah!

Good to to know that I prob won't have to track this kid's every move...more time to snuggle!
  • we use an ItzBeen timer for our first. The only reason was because she was born early and I was parinoid. I stopped when she got her weight up to where we wanted it.

  • I agree with pp...i really just tracked which side i had fed on last (you usually offer both sides, but the second side offered doesn't get drained as much so i'd always want to start on that side).

I really like the wedding ring idea!

  • We weren't crazy about tracking things at home, but I LOVE getting a half sheet of paper from daycare saying when/how much he ate, napped, wet/BM diapers.  I highly suggest an app or printed progress sheet for whoever is going to watch baby, it can be hard to remember by the end of the day.

  • Agree that an app isn't really necessary. Honestly, it made me a little obsessive because I felt like I had to constantly track how long she ate for, how many times a day, etc. You want to feed on demand regardless so it's easier to just follow your baby's cues.

  • This is really not what I thought this thread was going to be about.
    Hahaha sorry to disappoint!
  • I used the babynursing app with my last little one. I liked knowing how long he ate for and which side. I found it easy to use since I pretty much always had my phone with me and I just had to open the app and tap a button. It was also useful for when I was gone and had to pump so I could keep track of how many ounces I had for when I was gone. I used it for the 11 months he nursed before he refused to anymore.  I didn't use it for anything else though like diapers or baths.
  • @TheTamedShrew the wedding ring idea is genius!!!!!

    STUCK IN THE BOX!
weve been using the Eat Sleep app but I'm not super happy with it. Diaper annotation is easy but I wish it just had a start / stop option for nursing.

We have to keep a log and share info at our weight check / Bili check appointments.

Would welcome anyone elses recommendations on a useful app. Thanks :)
  • I used Feedbaby last time and I loved it. Big graphics and easy to use. I tracked feedings, sleeps and diapers. I am actually still using it to track naps and night sleep for my almost two year old. Crazy, I know. It's free, too!

Exactly this. I used the same app and timed all my nursing and pumping. I didn't use it for sleep, diapers, or anything else. I kinda like seeing the daily totals of how many minutes I nursed - it made me feel better for the lack of housecleaning that I did!

  • My BFF recommended one called baby tracker. She used it to keep track of nursing mostly (side, time, etc). It also has a pumping section where you can enter how long you pumped on what side and how much. Then it keeps track of your milk stash and if you later feed a bottle of pumped milk to baby, it removes it from your tally. It is free but you can't share thw information with a different user via the cloud or something
  • I started the "baby nursing" app
@toimadness1 and @marajay6 recommended. I like it a lot better than eat sleep. It does have more features than I plan on using but nice to know it's an option.

Tried wunderlist and liked how freestyle it was and can share data but doesn't do the math / summaries for you
  • We stopped tracking everything within about two weeks. Except BM's because we were having constipation issues. We had to keep track of that for a few months.

We would track everything for 24 hours before the doctors appointments so we'd have answers for her when she asked us, but that was it and a notebook was fine for that.
