Have you done anything this week to prepare for the baby? Oh man, what haven't we done this week. Um, well, I got engaged on Sunday night
We also closed on our house on Friday--that's where he proposed, in our new backyard. So baby has a nursery! OH and his dad spent the whole weekend ripping up the carpet on the second floor. Goal is to install hardwood flooring after putting down a base coat of paint to seal in whatever, so I've been working on picking out a paint color too for the walls that goes with the flooring we picked.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Symptoms: I've been feeling pretty good overall. Bump has definitely gotten massively bigger recently and rounded out a lot. And the baby is starting to kick me in new and fascinating places.

GTKY: Are you having a baby shower? When is it going to be? My mom said she was going to organize one but she hasn't said anything about it since and it's kind of weird because she doesn't have contact information for any of our friends so it makes me wonder if she's going to be dense enough to think that baby shower = only invite our family or something.... my mom is really weird, unpredictable, and often does things that make me go "wtf?"
Have you done anything this week to prepare for the baby? Looking into double strollers.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Symptoms:
At the ultrasound yesterday I was told I have a low lying placenta. We won't see the doctor for a few weeks so until then I won't know how severe it is. I am hoping they do a follow up ultrasound later on to make sure it has moved.

We aren't going to have a shower. This is my second baby but my boyfriends first.
Have you done anything this week to prepare for the baby? I bought an adorable hippo towel at Pottery Barn Kids. It has a little hippo head on it and two big teeth. It cracks me up. I also gathered up everything I've been buying from around the house and put it in one central spot. That's about it.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Symptoms: I finally asked my doctor for a prescription to help with the acid reflux. Hopefully that'll help with the heartburn and nausea. I also asked him about my red toes. Apparently it's blood pooling in my feet and it can lead to swelling. I flipped over my recycling bin at my desk to help elevate my feet. In general, I'm starting to feel awkward and stretched out. I occasionally get weird pains around my belly button. I can't imagine how I'll feel in 19 more weeks.
When's your next appointment? September 19th for my next 4 week check in. Actually it's my last - I start 3 week check-ins after that week!

I'm trying to stay mostly hands off with this shower, because I basically did my bridal shower without help from my bridal party. It was way too stressful. This time, just have my gluten free cake and I'll be there!

21 weeks! On the downward slope - it's so weird to think about! My favorite comparison is the ticker saying it's the size of a Dragon's egg. H has made me promise no fire baths for me or the baby. When I rebutted that fire cannot kill a dragon, he told me that he thinks "think it’s a distinct possibility that our baby is not, in fact, an actual dragon". Which is mildly disappointing.
Have you done anything this week to prepare for the baby?
Not yet, but my mom is coming into town tomorrow for her birthday. So we're going to go to this huge annual consignment sale that's supposed to be full of amazing baby things. I'm so excited!

We have people right outside of our window taking the bricks off the exterior of our building and replacing them. I really need them to move along. I am so tired of not being able to put a cohesive thought together and my teeth vibrating.

Yes, I'm having one shower for my KY people, then a luncheon for my MS/AL people. My shower will be hosted by my three best friends on Nov 13th. I've heard some of the planning, which sounds like it's going to be the normal type of baby shower with games, decorations and such. But my lunch will be in MS hosted by my MIL, and my mom, sister, and mom's BFF will head down there from AL. H's aunts/cousins from the other side of the family will also be invited, along with the three friends I have left that still live there.

Found a good deal on some cloth diapers so I bought them. That's about it

I could eat everything if my belly would let me! Then I get to full and my food baby, who is named Herman, and the real baby fight for space and I feel crazy full.

8/9 for the anatomy scan!

No shower. My mom and stepmom have talked about a sprinkle, but this will be boy number 2 and we have everything from my first. Not sure that a sprinkle is needed, so maybe just a fun brunch get together with a few close friends and family without gifts. No idea when. November maybe??

We found out this weekend that we are having a BOY! we bought the paint for the nursery and bought a bunch of baby clothes including some "little brother" outfits

Have you done anything this week to prepare for the baby? I'm in full nesting mode now that I know we're having a boy and my plans for the nursery can firm up. We sold all of the furniture that's in the guest room and I have a painter estimate this week, a trip to IKEA planned, and Owen is going to the grandparent's this weekend so we can transfer closets (I use the guest room's so mine will go in our bedroom and H's stuff will go to the basement in a wardrobe) and organize/bring baby stuff up from the basement. I'm soooo excited to get things going. I want the nursery done like tomorrow.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Symptoms: Still can't stomach the thought of eating any kind of meat, which is frustrating because normally I love it. I got my first "oh any day now huh?!" comment from someone remarking on the size of my belly. No sir, 4 months to go! It was my really sweet older neighbor and he meant no harm, but still.
When's your next appointment? 9/9 - just a boring ol' OB appt. Nothing is very exciting as far as appts go now that the anatomy scan is done. They'll probably schedule my 1-hr glucose test though.
(stealing from Sunday) GTKY: Are you having a baby shower? When is it going to be? Yes, my girlfriends in my neighborhood will host a sprinkle for me - we do it for all of us STMs. Mine will be sometime in November. We typically have a Friendsgiving party and my sprinkle will be a low-key brunch the next day. The gift is just one giant gift card which is awesome. Work may throw me a small sprinkle as well.
@canavara OMGGGGG congratulations! What a sweet proposal and so meaningful at your new home where you'll bring your first baby home!
@cjs260 Let us know how the sale is! I have always wanted to go to one and something always comes up or my babysitter falls through, etc.
@adorebella I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling very minimal/no movement. That's a relief that you are feeling it now!
I'm 18 weeks, and baby is the size of an artichoke (my sister's favorite veggie). He or she's ears are in the right place now
I haven't really been doing anything to get ready, but my mom and sister have begun baby boy clothes shopping. After two girls, they're convinced this is a boy. We aren't finding out, either!
My next appt is Sept. 5 for the anatomy scan; I can't wait!
I don't think there will be any baby shower or sprinkle, as this is our third baby.

Have you done anything this week to prepare for the baby?
This past weekend we started out registry at Bye Bye Baby and Babies R Us. When we registered for our wedding I don't remember it being so hard. So many choices and options and it is very difficult on what to put on there. Instead of it being "Hey, this looks pretty" it is "Is this safe? What are the ratings?" I liked BRU a lot more than BBB, the rewards seemed like it would pay off. Plus, they take Bye bye baby and bed bath and beyond coupons.
Rants/Raves/Questions/Symptoms:
Symptoms: Terrible dreams. My boobs are super itchy too. I lotion them up every day, but they still feel so gross.
Rants: I reallly wanted to post a picture of the sex of the baby on FB at 20 weeks. We found out last week but have been keeping it to ourselves besides close family. Originally we were going to Disney Labor day weekend for the last weekend on our Annual Passes and I planned to take a picture there (Disney freaks), but my poor old pup hurt his back really bad, and we spent $600 on tests and drugs. With the possibility of a $3000 surgery. So...Disney is most likely out. So, I'm sad. But I know we have to be realistic and not spend a lot of money on a weekend away when we have other priorities, like making sure my first baby is healthy.
Raves: I've been feeling kicks! (Or gas...but I am calling them kicks!)

2 of my sisters have offered to throw me a baby shower, but I haven't heard much of anything since. I hope it would be the weekend before Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving weekend because we are traveling for that. Otherwise I don't really know. I haven't yet bought plane tickets home, but I when I do I will plant the seed. I am also fairly certain that work will throw me a shower, or at least take me out to lunch and give me gifts.
