Perfect timing. The guy in the cube across me was being a jack wagon to our temp who was teaching him how to do her job since they aren't renewing her contract. Hey buddy, she is leaving us and doesn't want to so be nice! She's teaching you, no reason for you to act like you know what you are already doing. It irritates me when people get pushy when you are teaching them something new. No, I don't want to answer your five million questions later because you wanted to rush through learning it the first time.

Ugh. Hub's job is stressing me out today. He works crazy hours and I'm 90% sure they break labor laws constantly. For example: he is a supervisor and he is required (according to his supervisor) to check his email every 5 minutes beginning at midnight M-F. But they don't pay him for that time. It is a requirement of his job, but they won't pay him to do it. He then goes into work around 1AM and about 3 times a week works until 7 or 8PM -- that is an INSANE shift. Today he worked 2am -2pm which is the most reasonable shift he's had in a long time. He is then expected to check email again the next morning at 12AM (usually less than 8 hours later). They pay him a crappy hourly wage and have refused to give him a raise for FIVE YEARS.
None of this is new but today he found out that his subordinate is getting a raise and she will make more money than him.Also, he asked if he could "just" work midnight to 8AM so we didn't need to do daycare they said "Ideally that would be your shift everyday but we can't guarantee it. You can train for another position, though, and take the pay cut."
Oh, he also doesn't get any paid or unpaid breaks. If he takes too many bathroom breaks they write him up.
We're applying for other jobs tonight but I'm so angry I'm seeing red.
@Gretchypoo I am so sorry, but that doesn't sound legal and if my subordinate made more than me I'd be pitching a fit or finding a new job. Hopefully he finds something better before the new baby arrives. Thinking of you guys.

He works for a Healthcare lab as a phlebotomist and supervisor. it is a frustrating job already and crap pay and crap hours make it worse. it has destroyed his health and he never sleeps. I hope he can find something new before baby comes but with his hours he may have to take "vacation" just to go to interviews. idk how we will survive if his schedule doesn't change asap.
@Gretchypoo That is awful! I know those things would be illegal here but many companies tend to do whatever they want as long as they can no matter what the laws are. I hope he finds something much better.
Already posted under NIPT scans but I'd still like to b* about it - The lady who gave me my MaterniT21 results totally confused me and the office closed before their posted hours... Now I have to wait till tomorrow to get clarification around all of my results.

I have been begging him to do that for 4 years. He wants to get out of phlebotomy entirely. He has a lot of reasons for that but at this point, he's agreed he just needs a new job. any new job.

no, local. It's really bad bc Hubs is from. smallish town and his dad has a previous relationship with the owners of the lab so they won't complain for political reasons.
@Gretchypoo, I seriously can't even believe that. Actually, I can because some employers/companies really do suck that bad. They're not even going to know what to do with themselves after they lose him. Good luck to them trying to find someone to replace him. That's what they get for treating him like that and expecting all that from him. I hope he finds something else so fast, it will make life so much better for both of you. That job sounds so bad, that he's probably going to be way better off literally anywhere else he goes, no matter what. I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with that. You would think because his dad did have that relationship with the owners it would give them incentive to treat your H better. Apparently not. I'll be thinking of you guys and will be so thrilled for you when he finds something else.
