CTS

Are there any other mamas who have carpal tunnel syndrome in their pregnancy?  I got it with my last pregnancy and now I have it again.  I've read that it's fairly common.  For the mamas who have it/have had it, what have you found that's helped?  I've used braces at night and am massaging my inner wrists.  I forgot how much I hated having this!

  • I don't have any personal experience with carpal tunnel, just wanted to say +1 to jump in on the symptoms thread party.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • I have CTS even without pregnancy. If you type for your job, request an ergonomic keyboard and mouse, they help a ton!

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.
Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016.
Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015.
They will be forever missed. <3

  • I have it from my former cake decorating job, but it hasn't bothered me for about 6 months. It's been 3 years since I worked there and up until about 6 months ago I was sleeping in a brace and wearing it whenever I was on the computer or lifting anything. I wasn't aware that it's something that can flare up because of pregnancy, so far so good for me. I never went to the doc for it, but found the braces gave me the most relief, but it's important to find one that fits you really well. I have small hands and wrists and my favorite is the Wellgate for Women PerfectFit. My walmart carries it, and it's also available on amazon. Wearing them a lot to prevent aggravating it always worked best for me.

  • I had CTS like symptoms several years ago. I had pinched a nerve in my neck and caused all kinds of pain in my wrists/hands. I went to a Phydical Therapist and learned some exercises and got braces fitted to my wrists. (Also saw a Chiro to help my neck/back) They all helped so much!!

I had another flare up last pregnancy and I wore the braces at night as needed.

    Braces and stretching!
  • Yes I have it really severe, but my doc didn't suggest anything other than elevating my hands.
