Sleep Sack or Blanket?

Hi,

My 11 month old still sleeps in sleep sack. We've tried putting her to sleep without and she wakes up multiple times, but always STTN with it. My cousin just told me I shouldn't use one at this age, or past one, because she may trip if trying to stand in crib. We were planning to switch to a blanket at a year, but I know she'll kick it off with how much she moves all over crib.

What are you using? Anyone still use the sleep sack?

There are sleep sacks that are made for toddlers. Even those with separate feet to allow them to walk around in. There is no reason she can't be in one, in fact a lot of people recommend them because it makes it more difficult to climb out of the crib once you hit 2 or 2.5

I use a blanket at this point but only because DS is really attached to it and it comforts him.

I use both! My daughter's current sleep sack is wayyyy too long for her, but she stands in her crib all the time without issue. She has also mastered walking around our livingroom in her sleepsack.

Sleep sack's here too, or grow bags we call them
in the UK. Lol. I found they worked perfectly with our first, so have followed suit with this little dude. I think they're ace, as it gets quite chilly here at night; they are perfect, keeps Jakey nice and snug.

We are in a sleep sack too! He's a little over 11 months. I've never tried putting him to bed without one, feel like he wouldn't sleep well. I have also heard it helps prolong the climbing out of the crib which I definitely think we'll need with this guy...little daredevil!!

A minky blanket. His room is on the second floor and gets pretty warm so we had to nix the sleep sacks around April/May due to him being too warm. I'd say it's usually 73-75 in there consistently in the summer. Will probably go back to using them when it gets cold outside again. He sleeps in a onesie currently. But he loves his blankie. Carries it and drags it all over the place. So we will also keep using that as well. When I grab him from his crib each morning He makes sure he grabs that thing on the way out. It's pretty cute.

My almost 1-year-old is still in a cotton sleep sack and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon! He seems to love it, it indicates to him it's sleep time, and he has no problems standing up in his crib with it (but it also encourages him to not stand up as much in his crib and actually go to sleep!). It also helps keep him from sticking his legs through the crib slats and when the time comes, it should help prevent him from climbing out!

My little guy is all over the crib at night, so a blanket would never stay on him!

We had DS in a Merlin until 9 months, which is when he started hardcore teething and wouldn't sleep through the night. Since that's the upper limit for a Merlin, we decided we'd go cold turkey since we were having sleep trouble anyway. After the tooth popped through, he went back to sleeping totally normally, even without the Merlin. I haven't put him in any alternative sacks or under a blanket but I got him some warmer PJs. My LO sounds like yours--too active for a blanket to be helpful!

Blankets. I put 2 breathable blankets on either side of her crib. She doesn't really cover herself with them. She just cuddled with them. I think she started consistently sleeping through the night after forming an attachment to a blanket. Even if she wakes up she hugs her blanket and snuggles up to her bumpers until she goes back to sleep.

The bumpers and blankets I was comfortable putting in there after she became mobile.

We change it up. Sometimes it's a sleepsack, sometimes a onesie (footed/full leg PJs in colder months, but in summer, a onesie is all that's needed) and light receiving blanket. His summer sleepsacks are light woven muslin. We keep the temp in his room such that he doesn't really need a blanket, but there's a light one just for comfort. In winter, his room is a bit colder, so we do the more quilted sleepsacks.

He sleeps fine no matter what he's in, though.
