Fit mama check-in! 8/22

Happy Monday Ladies!!

1: How was last week?

2: What goals are you setting for this week?

3: Rants, Raves, Questions, Randoms...

4: GTKY: What's one thing you hope your little one will get from you? And one thing you hope they'll get from your SO?

Feel free to check-in today with these usual questions--but also write throughout the week to say what work outs you're planning on doing, will do, or pictures you took. Whatever helps to keep you accountable!! No matter how much fitness you're accomplishing this first trimester- good for you for fighting for a fit pregnancy!!

Re: Fit mama check-in! 8/22

  • - I am feeling lots better! Last week had three 45 min runs, and one power yoga session. Food--no good. Threw my DDs bday party and ate lots of sweets.

    - this week I have three more training runs, and I want to do a HIT workout Wednesday and yoga again on Friday.

    - I want this baby to have my athleticism ((my DH has none at all, poor guy)) And ... I want baby to get DH nose. I don't like mine :(
  • Loading the player...
  • 1. I reached my goal of 4 work-outs, plus walking.
    2. Plan to have the same goal this week!
    3. I might miss my stroller strides class this morning because DD is still sleeping, but there is no way I plan to wake her up!
    4. I hope my DD and this LO get my outgoing personality and want them to get my DH's metabolism and teeth (straight teeth with no braces for him)

  • Hi everyone! This is my first time posting in this thread. Pre-pregnancy, I was in the gym 4 or 5 days a week for weight training.

    1. Last week was better food wise. I had a salad a few times last week. I have had a major aversion to veggies so this is a win for me. I only went to the gym twice.

    2. I am going to try to get to the gym at least 3 days this week.

    3. None at the moment.

    4. I hope this LO gets my laid back attitude and DH's sense of humor.
  • 1. Last week I got 4 workouts in! Yay!

    2. 3-4 workouts. I'm not making any food goals because I'm just eating what I can tolerate....mostly pasta or potatoes haha

    3. It is cooling down here which is so nice!

    4. DH's height and my love of reading.

    Good morning Ladies!

    1. Last week was one of the best weeks I've had in a while! I worked out 4x including 4 days of lifting and a little over 15mi on the treadmill. I started doing the Jamie Eason LiveFit Trainer program last week. I've done a few cycles of it over the last few years and have loved it! I also cleaned up my diet a ton and have been cooking lots more.

    2. My plan for this week:
    MON: CrossFit (Done!)
TUES: Cardio & LiveFit Training Chest/Triceps
WED: CrossFit & LiveFit Training Back/Biceps
    THURS: Rest
FRI: CrossFit & LiveFit Training Legs
SAT: Cardio & LiveFit Training Shoulders/Abs
    SUN: Rest
Food wise: to continue to eat clean and cook most of our meal at home

    3. I don't have any rants at the moment. This Thursday, though, we have a Genetics Testing appointment. A little nervous about that.

    4. My Hubby and I are both go-getters, so I hope our baby gets that as well! I also hope the baby gets my love for education & learning, and from my Hubby, his out-going personality and sense of humor. Physically, we both hope our baby gets my nose and my Hubby's lips, and a combination of our eyes (but my eyebrows, if the baby's a girl, LOL!)

    - last week was good for exercise, I met my weekly goal & actually got 5 workouts in (4 Barre3 online workouts & one 5.3 mile run/jog/walk)... I ate a lot more than I probably should have though, including a full day of not so great stuff on Friday (pizza, polish water ice, custard, nachos, fries...yep all in one day in addition to other stuff haha)

    - this week I hope to accomplish the same, hoping to eat a bit better though... already got my workout in this morning yay!

    - I have zero energy or motivation in the afternoons/evenings and am soooo bloated by that point that I feel like my workouts aren't even benefiting me haha

    - I hope our baby will share my love for all life & nature, and have my husband's laid back personality  :)

  • Sounds like everyone had a pretty decent week!

I did end up waking my DD up this morning so I could go to stroller strides and I'm glad I did! It was a good cardio work-out today.

  • 1: How was last week? Great! Two days of boot camp and lifted HEAVY. Very intense and felt great. Then did the yardwork and went on a 3mi walk this weekend.

2: What goals are you setting for this week? Boot camp 2x and at least one day of tabata. All with pre pregnancy intensity! Now that I'm feeling a little better!

    3: Rants, Raves, Questions, Randoms...

4: GTKY: What's one thing you hope your little one will get from you? And one thing you hope they'll get from your SO? My sense of humor... His selflessness, understanding, family-centered -ness, and gender I guess! We already have 2 girls :-)
  • 1.  I have been so off track the last 2 weeks.  I managed to get in one workout last week and one before that.
    2.  I signed up for a 5k last week that is in October.  I'm hoping this will motivate me to get back to running.  I signed DH up too so he can help me keep on track.  We shall see if that works.
    3.  All I want to do is sleep when I get home from work so exercising is the last thing on my mind.  Of course, I have dinner to make and a 10 month old to chase after when I do get home and a husband who is at work 2 of those nights a week.  I'm so ready for 2nd trimester to get here and hopefully get some energy back.  Anyone else just feel so tired all the time?
    4. Definitely hope this LO gets his daddy's laid-back personality.  So far DS got it.  Not sure what trait I'd want this LO to have of mine... is that bad?? lol

  • You ladies are on a roll! Inspiring to hear how well everyone is doing!

1: How was last week? I did crossfit 2x last week. Struggling with morning sickness and most days I just felt too queasy.

2: What goals are you setting for this week? I need to be better at taking my little moments when I don't feel nauseous, even if I get a 10 min window and just doing some leg or arm work with resistance bands or going for a walk. Because I never know until it's time to leave for my crossfit class if I will be able to do it or not. Aiming for 3x crossfit this week though! And little in between workouts when I can.

3: Rants, Raves, Questions, Randoms... anyone planning getting one of those running strollers? I'm not running right now, it feels uncomfortable but pre pregnancy I was a long distance runner. I've heard they are hard to get used to. I'm a FTM.

4: GTKY: What's one thing you hope your little one will get from you? And one thing you hope they'll get from your SO? I did IVF so even though I'm only 9 weeks I already know it's a boy. I hope he gets my husbands thick hair and charming smile and his laid back nature. Hope he gets my drive and my love of being active!
  • @jenny0228 I love my bob jogging stroller! Definitely worth it if you think you will at all go running with the baby.

  • @CanadianintheSouth thanks for the recommendation!!
  • @jenny0228 I am STM, I'm also wondering if I should invest I a double jogging or not with two. I love running, but with DD1 I never went and still don't go running with her.:. Running is my baby free time that I get when my husband is home.  So think about your schedule and if you'd really use it.  Also, FYI- You can't use a jogging stroller with babe till they are older and can support their head (around 6mo.)
  • @jenny0228 i love my bob jogging stroller too.  I don't feel like i get as much use out of it as i could, but we also live in the south and it's just too damn hot to be going out for runs in the evening with LO.

@kjd291 i am also considering investing in the double jogger.  I know some of my other mommy friends who still just use the single and put both kiddos in it... how, not sure!  My kiddos will be too close in age for me to ride with them like that.  I guess I will consign the other or sell it so I can still get some money for it before getting the double.

  • @kjd291 that is a really good point..running always was my escape - maybe i would want to just be alone for a half hour or hour! also i didn't know that they had to be 6 months to go in it! i pictured myself slowly walk-running with it as soon as i was cleared to exercise again after the birth and saw it more of an early transition. maybe i would wait to get one until after the baby comes to see or try to borrow a friends at first.

@sgrant432 also good advice - thank you for your recommendation!
  • @kjd291 @jenny0228 I got the adaptor for my chicco car seat for my bob so I could use the bob when she was an infant, but yes you can't use them just in the seat until they have better neck/head control

  • @CanadianintheSouth good to know about the adaptor!

Hi Ladies! How is everyone doing this week?

I followed through on my Mon & Tues workout plans (yippee!!!) but this morning decided to skip CrossFit so I could sleep in. Then hit the gym for 45min of Cardio, including a (slow) Treadmill 5k, followed by Back / Biceps. According to my bodyspace.com app I lifted 13k lbs today, 4k lbs yesterday, and 7k lbs on Monday. Yippeeeee!!!

Also as I was wrapping up my workout today my Mom texted me. I live in SoCal and she lives in Mass, so we like to send selfies to each other ;) I sent her a selfie and she responded that I've gotten thinner since she saw me last (June). She doesn't know yet that I'm pregnant!!! We are flying out there in 2 weeks to share the news with my fam :) I told her I am the heaviest I have been in over 3 years. She said it's because I'm tall.... Ummmm WRONG!!! LOL!!! I'll be 14 weeks when she sees me in a few !!!

This is is the pic :)
  • Looking great, @triwellnessgirl !! Nice job on the workouts!  So exciting about telling your mom in person soon!!  My mom now knows, but before she did she said the same thing about me looking skinnier than I have.. Which makes the news even more of a surprise!

I took Monday as a rest day, Tuesday ran 4miler, and yesterday did an at home HIT workout. im trying not to freak out--after my run I felt some small contractions/--Ahhh!! I know this means I was pushing myself and just needed to slow down, they stopped once I drank some water and cooled down. But I'm scared this will keep me from running my 10k next month, but more importantly nervous that something will go wrong with baby.  Don't want to stop working out, but obviously want to do what my body and baby needs.

@triwellnessgirl you're awesome, thanks for motivating me today, I hope to get a workout in later this morning! that's so cool you're gonna tell your mom in person, she's going to be so happy with your surprise!!
@kjd291 I feel the same way!! It's so important to listen to our bodies, I know I overdid things Tues between running 5 miles, doing a few hours of yard work & then a few hours of walking dogs at the shelter I volunteer at - so I was completely drained by that evening.... felt some cramping feelings in the middle of the night & again yesterday (just rested yesterday outside of work) and this morning I feel like my bloat has diminished significantly so I'm a little worried about that but hopefully will be able to do some activity today without fearing the worst...
I also discovered this week that if I have to get a cerclage I won't be able to do any working out once it's in, sooo that has me a bit worried too as I'm high risk for potentially needing that procedure... praying that I won't though & hoping that my cervix is healthy enough to carry this LO full term without that!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @serenity13 sorry that you're feeling this  way too!  Fx you won't need a cerclage and have to stop working out-that would be hard. Hope you can get your workout in without anxiety!
  • @triwellnessgirl way to go! i have to say this weekly thread and you ladies are definitely motivating me!
@kjd291 i've noticed when i work out i feel the round ligament pains more than usual. it freaked me out at first until i realized what it was - but totally agree its so hard at this stage when the pregnancy is so new, it's hard to know how much is too much! i haven't felt anything like contractions though so far.
@serenity13 i had to look up with a cerlage is - i hope you don't end up needing it!

i have been doing pretty good this week - so far having the best week since the morning sickness kicked in full gear! monday i rested, tuesday i went to crossfit, and yesterday i went for a 3mi walk in the morning and went to crossfit in the evening. friday i plan to go to crossfit again and today hoping to sneak in some strength exercises here and there since i have a busy day. i have been feeling so bloated that running has felt uncomfortable, but i think i will get back to running at crossfit since we only ever run up to a mile total during a workout anyway if there is running involved. i will just run slooooooow.
  • Nice work, @jenny0228 !

and I have been told it's totally normal to have contractions post workout, and there's no need to be concerned unless they don't stop when you slow down.  I think it's also because it's my second pregnancy. I've heard Braxton hicks can start this early the second time around--so I'm trying to not freak out.
  • @kjd291 & @jenny0228 thank you, I hope so too! I didn't end up working out today though haha I'm using work as my excuse because it was supposed to be my day off but I had to go in for a few hours anyway... oh well, there's always tomorrow morning right? ;)

Hey @kjd291 , @serenity13 , & @jenny0228 .... thanks so much for the positive words!! Nice work, ladies!! @serenity13 I hope you get good news in the coming days! When will you know? Please keep us posted!

    Have a great night Everyone!!
  • I missed my normal Wednesday boot camp so today I did two T25's in a row. Does that count as two workouts?! Going with yes.
  • @triwellnessgirl nice arms!

I was thinking we should post muscle pics along with bump pics!
  • @Cbeanz totally counts as two ;) go ahead with the muscle pics! ... mine are clearly already shrinking :disappointed:

went for a run last night, but only did about a mile instead of my usual. and took it nice and slow because I still was a bit anxious about getting contractions.  Yoga today!
  • @Cbeanz I agree, that's 2! great job! @triwellnessgirl thank you! I'll probably find out at my next appt with the specialist dr on 9/8 if I'll need to go that route, so fingers crossed it will be ok... @kjd291 awesome! have any of you looked into prenatal yoga? I did a Barre3 workout online this morning, 3rd workout of the week and am hoping to get a quick run (if it's not so humid/hot) in early tomorrow or do something else both Sat & Sun.
I don't know how you ladies have energy in the evenings to work out, that's very impressive! I struggle with energy after a certain point every day haha

I agree with @serenity13 ! I could never do evening workouts. Energy is low and I feel like a house. I have to do it in the early a.m. when gym is empty and I'm half asleep ;) PS Will be thinking of you and your next appointment... Praying for good news!!

Thank you @cbeanz for the kind words ! And yes, you got in 2 workouts & lets def do muscle pics!!! WooHoo!! #FlexFriday anyone ??

PS Skipped CrossFit again today and instead a did a 15min 1:1 Treadmill Interval Run followed by Shoulders / Abs. I incorporated Cleans & Barbell Jerks into my workout, so I got a little CrossFit in ;) Today was my 4th workout this week!! Yay!
  • @serenity13 I checked out some prenatal videos on YouTube yesterday.  Found one that was called "advanced" prenatal yoga that I did--a few others looked decent-most seemed like less of a work out and more focused toward easy end of pregnancy exercises.

and I do not have energy in the evenings either!! I just kept up with night time running because I usually didn't feel nauseous any longer by late at night and it cools down outside a teeny bit.  I'd much rather be climbing into bed!!

whats everyone planning for their weekends??

  • Great job ladies!! I actually met my goal this week for the first time! YAY! Crossfit 3 days and two long walks and some little strength exercises here and there. I finally confided in a few people at crossfit that I'm pregnant - yesterday we had a workout which I didn't finish in the time given. I just took it slow and took breaks when I needed to. The coach knows I'm pregnant but I feel a little more comfortable with other people knowing why I'm slowing down and modifying movements, too. The box I go to is small and most of the members are pretty close.

This weekend I hope to a walk/run to try to see how a little bit of running feels. I miss it!! It's finally cooling off here where I live on cape cod so I have to take advantage of the mornings. Starting to take Diclegis has made ALL the difference. I can function again in the morning!
