5w6d U/S no sac... ectopic?

I had my blood work done Thursday, but didn't get results Friday because the labs got picked up late. I was 5w6d  on Thursday, so... 6w2d now. My internal was painless and everything was normal size for this point in pregnancy according to my doctor. Doc didn't order bloodwork 48 hours later, I'm assuming because she wants to wait until my follow up ultrasound this Thursday when the tech will try again to see if I have a sac in my uterus. I'm going to call tomorrow to ask for my hormone levels and to see what my progesterone level was (she mentioned it might be low) if I don't get a call. Should I ask to do blood work this Tuesday and have it done again Thursday when I go for the U/S? I only have an U/S appointment with a tech, no actual appointment with my doctor for another 3 weeks. 

I've been Googling (shame on me) and I've just seen some stories where people have no symptoms and they were ordered shots or for D&C appointments and come to find out they were just too early and baby showed fine later. The wait is driving me bonkers. I desperately want to believe I'm not special enough to conceive my 5.5 year old daughter with an IUD in place and us both end up perfectly fine, plus have an ectopic pregnancy too when I have no other indication that would make me prone to it. But I can't convince myself it's going to be ok either.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry, forgot to put in my original post she acted concerned that there was no sac visible and that if nothing showed up this week "we'd have to find where the pregnancy was" but didn't order additional bloodwork or set up for me to see her.
