Pre-E mommas?

Just wondering if anyone else had early onset pre-e in any previous pregnancies. After 2 typical pregnancies, I delivered at 28w w my 3rd due to pre e and fetal distress (turned out she had numerous health issues). Everything looked perfect so far this time but baseline 24hr urine catch just came back already showing protein in my urine despite only slightly elevated BP (130/80 or lower). At only 16 weeks I can't help but stress. Growth ultrasounds every few weeks are showing a babe that continues to measure ahead which is a first for us! Just wondering if any other mommas had a history of pre e and what you are doing differently this time.

Re: Pre-E mommas?

  • I wasn't diagnosed until 30 weeks but I've been in baby aspirin since ttc to help combat it.

  • I did my baseline urine at 10w and it was 219 and I spent days freaking out about it.  My dr said they don't diagnose pre-e until after 20w. And you can't diagnose pre-e without both high bp and urine protein > 300. She said if my protein hit 300 tomorrow she would be concerned but less concerned than for someone who went from 0-300 in a few weeks. We haven't talked about retesting the urine yet.

I am on the baby aspirin. That's about all they can do.
  • Okay, good to know. Mine is over 300 but only just. My MFM was surprised at that because everything else has looked so good and my bloodwork was perfect. I have also been on baby aspirin since TTC.

  • Good luck man. Fuck I don't want to deal with that again.

Tell me about it! My preemie passed away when she was 6 months old and we are super anxious to bake this little guy at least a bit longer.

  • That's heart breaking. Extra fingers crossed for you the aspirin works
  • God @phlox728 I'm so sorry. Really hoping for good outcomes this time.
  • I'm petrified of having it again, but at the same time I refuse to be anything but positive and hopeful that this will be a "normal", healthy pregnancy. Mine was diagnosed at 27 +3 last time and my son was born at 27+5..... Taking a baby aspirin a day and just being very aware of my body.
