  • How far along are you? What's new with baby? 10 weeks! (See the ultrasound thread for my drama this week.) I have an appt with a np on Wednesday, when I will grill her about what exactly it means, and another sonogram on the 22nd. I'll probably get instructions to make an appt with a high risk doctor also, since I developed preeclampsia last pregnancy. Here's a cute picture from my Nurture app:

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? In spite of uncertainty I am forging ahead. I plan to do extensive maternity clothes online shopping today. (Probably won't but much, but shopping is fun.) I'm also perpetually in search for 3 month sized cardigans. They don't exist sold alone, lol.

Im starting to envision sleeping arrangements. Right now I sleep half the night with my 18 month old. The original plan was to have dad sleep with him and me sleep with the baby. This is looking less like a possibility just because my son wakes up so much during every night. I'm going t try to get a different type of orthotics at my son's orthopedic appt this week, so that may help. I just know I can't nurse a toddler 4 times at night and a newborn every 2 hours. I also know I'm too tired to give night weaning an honest effort....after 2 hours of crying and walking I am for.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: My symptoms like moodiness and nausea are backing off right on schedule. My husband let me sleep in 2 hours this morning until 8:30 and then took my kid to the grocery store.  ;)

When's your next appointment? see above

    10 weeks tomorrow

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby?
Had an appointment on Tuesday, otherwise nothing.

    Rants / raves / questions / symptoms:
I made a meal this week! It's been several weeks since I've done any cooking, so that was a win!

    When's your next appointment?
September 13 for a physical we will get to hear the heartbeat!

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?)
My parents read aloud to us a lot growing up. Even after we could read ourselves. It was great family time. I would love to do that with my kids.
  • How far along are you? What's new with baby? 11 weeks tomorrow.

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? We took a stroll around BRU and got super overwhelmed. That's about it.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: I don't want to jinx anything, but I think my nausea is finally lightening up! Not the dry-heaving though.

When's your next appointment? 8/29. Finally get to meet my OB after being released from the RE this week!

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?) My mom always made a big deal out of birthdays, and would start the day by bringing us breakfast in bed (whatever we requested the night before) on a platter on her wedding china. I plan to do the same!

How far along are you? What's new with baby?
9 weeks today. Due date got pushed back 5 days at my ultrasound this week which scares me to no end so I belong here now.

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby?
Googled the shit out of why baby could be measuring a week behind. Signed up for a stitch fix box of maternity clothes as bought a fetal Doppler from groupon.

Raves: Bought an entire icecream cake from baskin Robbins for myself and have slowly been eating it out of the freezer with a fork. It's the only thing I want to eat 24/7. Rant: the tooting! Probably too much dairy.

next appt: Sept 7th for genetic counseling and the NPT scan. I'm super nervous because it's the day before we leave for Italy for 2 weeks for a vacation/ family wedding. If something is wrong and I need a DNC we'll probably have to cancel the trip. They won't do the scan any earlier bc I have to be 11 weeks for the appointment. Hopping I'll find the HB with the Doppler to have a bit of peace of mind

Traditons: I'd like to make a nice baby book. My mom made one for me and I loved looking at it when I was little. Social media a taken the fun out of so many things like this

  • How far along are you? What's new with baby? 10 weeks

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? I was going to say no but I had forgotten that I bought a few new cloth diaper covers.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: The morning sickness hasn't been quite as bad this week but has been more constant. And I'm still so tired.

    When's your next appointment? 8/29

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you'd like to start?) My family did a lot of fun things but we didn't have many traditions so DH and I have started putting together a tradition notebook for holidays and birthdays. We still don't have a whole lot of ideas yet though.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms:  thinking the nausea and vomiting is tapering off but not willing to stop taking my diclectin until after I get home from my trip to NYC

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? This past week we told our bosses and coworkers. I also bought one onesie.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: On antibiotics for the second time for a bladder infection and it's freaking me out. Not only is it annoying and uncomfortable, it's hard not to worry.

When's your next appointment? Not for another 3 weeks.

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?) This isn't one that I grew up with, but every year my husband's family takes a weekend camping trip all together at the end of summer. I've enjoyed going all of the years that my husband and I have been together and I really look forward to taking our little one along!

12 weeks today. They are the size of a lime.
Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby?

    Newp

    Rants / raves / questions / symptoms:

Oh... I felt baby move. Seriously. I thought I was crazy and didn't really say anything to anyone. Then Yestersay was talking to Two of my friends that are midwife and a doula. Told them what I felt a couple times. They said it was absolutely the baby. Probably doing body slams wall to wall lol. But they explained that considering this is a pregnancy (after DS) the muscles are super thin. Still stunned to feel them this early. My son is a wild man bouncing off thr walls playing with dad as I write this... guess I'm probably in store for madness again lol.

    When's your next appointment?
Tuesday for NT scan. Really looking forward to seeing them.

Ax your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?)
Like others mine is Christmas - we always opened one present the night before Christmas. I loved that. One year when we were older we convinced our dad to let us open everything Christmas eve. My brother dad and I stayed up until 4am together it was a ton of fun!
  • How far along are you? What's new with baby?

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby?
Told the in laws about baby two. Might look for maternity clothes today. Hoping for a cute pair of jeans.
    Rants / raves / questions / symptoms:
So back in Cali and I feel like I drive like a slug. Why is everyone constantly passing me when I'm going between 75-80 shesh I'm already going way faster than Hawaii where the the top speed limit is 55 lol.
    When's your next appointment?

  • Far along? 10 weeks

Prepare for baby? Well DH and I took our 7 month old to babysit our 2 month old niece last night. That was definite prep work for 2 under 2!

Rants? Going back to school tomorrow. Super crabby and emotional all day. It's been a great 2 months with DD, even though I've been sick for almost half of it.

    Next appointment? 9/12
  • @Mrsnc I didn't realize that your lo.was younger than mine. (Thought mine was one of the youngest at 11 mo) How did it go?

Also what are you going to school for? I'm on an unusually long break from school... wait. Hmmm... just realized that you could have meant for work lol.
  • Yeah...this pregnancy was definitely not planned. I'm confident that aside from those having multiples, I've got the hold on siblings closest in age. Now that we're over the shock, DH and I are excited! Babysitting was an interesting experience...DH had a hard time coping and there was no way I could juggle both so I'm gonna need him to pull it together a bit before this one arrives. Good news was that DD was FASCINATED by her cousin. She would gaze at her for minutes on end, smile all the time, and was surprisingly gentle for only 7 months. DD also like to scream at us when our niece was crying. Slightly annoying but super adorable. Im hoping that once this LO arrives and she's just over a year, she'll be a bit more patient. Overall, I'm pretty confident she's gonna be a great big sister!

And yeah work tomorrow. I'm halfway through my masters and was going to pick up on classes in the winter but with this baby I'm gonna have to push it back until next fall and make sure we're at a decent place financially to afford me taking classes again.

    13 weeks tomorrow

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby?
I bought 4 girl outfits yesterday! Here's to hoping my guess is right!!

    Rants / raves / questions / symptoms:
im SO over none of my shorts/bottoms not fitting anymore. I need it to get cooler so I can put my leggings on permanently

    When's your next appointment?
Tuesday! We get an US every time, I can't wait!

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?)

There wasn't anything super specific that o can think of other than holiday traditions. I really liked our annual family vacation, it was something I could always count on and the only time when my parents spoiled us like crazy. I remember those trips so well and I want to make an effort to travel more with my family to make those memories for them.

  • How far along are you? What's new with baby? 10 weeks. She has fingernails (we are team green, Ive been saying girl since day one)

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? I did meal prep for a few days for this week. Not only is it a healthy option but it will save approximately 45$!

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: rant- gas. Oh the gas. Rave- I lost 4 pounds! Questions- I don't think I've got any! I Google everything. Symptoms- aside from the gas, heartburn is huge. And it doesn't help that I'm craving orange juice all the time

When's your next appointment? October 11th :( so far!!

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?) Eeekkkkkk!!! Christmas !!!! New PJs, christmas movie and driving around looking at beautiful christmas lights on Xmas eve and having all the family at our place for Xmas day. This christmas will still be a great one because I'm going to ask that everyone comes to our house since I assume I'll be too uncomfortable for 12+ hour car rides.
  • A little late to the game here, sorry.

How far along are you? What's new with baby?
    12 weeks, 2 days

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? I told another coworker and she thinks she has some maternity clothes to lend me and I'm excited about that. Also, I went to a big church yard sale and picked up some gender neutral clothes and a pair of maternity jeans.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: I can't complain about morning sickness because I really got off easy this time around, just some nausea in the evening and I threw up a handful of times. But I'm annoyed because when it should be subsiding around now it seems to be amping up.

    When's your next appointment? Today!

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?) We used to go to Cape May and Wildwood every summer which was loads of fun. We have started our own traditions, mainly around holidays of course, and we do try and go to the shore at least once per summer.

  • I'm very late! Sorry!

9 weeks on Sunday! MS has picked up even more than before. Ready for that to be done.

I I donated a lot of old stuff (mostly DH's) to charity to start making room for baby. Also got in some maternity pants from zulilly.

My first ultrasound is tomorrow and I'm freaking out! I'm super excited and am so ready to have the piece of mind but I can't help playing worst case scenarios in my head

  • How far along are you? What's new with baby? I'm in week 11 now.

Have you done anything this week to prepare for baby? No.

Rants / raves / questions / symptoms: I think my nausea is slightly letting up, but I'm still throwing up sometimes so I've started feeling like I need to throw up with like 1min-30sec warning which is not helpful because we were traveling all weekend. I'm also having a lower appetite, but that might be more stress than pregnancy... not sure though, because usually I stress eat all the things.

Wondering if anyone has experience attending a funeral while pregnant. A close relative passed away (which is why I'm pretty nonexistant around here right now), and I'm going to the funeral. There's no way I'd consider missing it, but I'm wondering how much pushback to expect.

When's your next appointment? Friday, and I can't wait for it! It's been over 4 weeks since my last one.

GTKY: what is your favorite family tradition growing up that you'd like to carry on with your own kids (if you don't have one are there any you want to start?) Family recipes for sure. We have traditional ones on both sides of my family. It's not a holiday without them.

  • @sunshine507 I'm having trouble understanding why youd get pushback?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @sunshine507 - not quite sure what you mean by push-back??

I attended a family funeral while very pregnant with DD, and I felt like everyone was so relieved to have someone to come talk to and congratulate, and focus on something other than death, a joyful season and new life to celebrate.
  • @sunshine507 I'm not following. What does being pregnant have to do with a funeral?

  • There's a superstition that pregnant women shouldn't attend funerals. I guess it's mostly southern? My cousin's immediate family were very, very unhappy about her attending our great-grandmother's funeral.

Oh okay.  wow. I've never heard this.  I would never expect you to miss the funeral of a close loved one. Hope you don't have to deal with people being silly about this while you're also trying to mourn your loved one. And so sorry for your loss.
  • Thanks all.

@kjd291 I hope so too, but am kind of anticipating it at least loudly behind my back. I'll be there either way.

  • Jewish people have the same custom -- specifically about not going into cemeteries. I'm hoping it doesn't come up during my pregnancy -- both because I obviously hope I don't lose a loved one, and I don't want to deal with the horrified relatives.
