Pregnant after a Loss

Probability of loss after 1st U/S?

Does anyone know roughly the probability of loss after a healthy 6-7 week Ultra sound with heartbeat? I've been a statistic, but just curious.

Re: Probability of loss after 1st U/S?

  • Last time, I read that it's normally 2% but if you've had 2 losses it's 15%. But like you said, statistics don't matter when it's been you!

Yea, my doctor said the last time (I had a hematoma) that it was still less than 10%, but I was the 10%! Don't want to be it again, but of course anything is possible, just curious if my odds are better this time around.

  • I always heard 5% after seeing hb, 2% after hearing hb with Doppler. I've been in both those percentiles unfortunately.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.

4% of women will lose two pregnancies in a row. 2% of pregnancies will end in the second trimester. I know those statistics so well because I am them. Statistics are reassuring until they don't matter.
