Feeding schedule help

Just curious how your babies feeding schedules look. Baby girl is coming up on 11 months now and this is her schedule:
7:00 - wake up and breast milk
8:30 - fruit/oatmeal
9:30-11:00 - nap
11:00 - breast milk
12:30 - veggie/fruit/rice
2:00 - breast milk
2:30-4:00 - nap
5:00 - breast milk
6:30 - veggies and snack
8:30 - breast milk then bed
So with the breast milk I nurse when I'm home and she gets a bottle with expressed milk when I'm at work.  Well, recently I noticed she's been eating less at her 2pm breast milk feed (only about 1 oz where she used to eat about 3oz). I was thinking of just feeding her more of her purée mixture for lunch and dropping that breast milk feeding at 2. But not sure how to go about doing that. I feel like I'm over thinking it but I just want to do what's best for my daughter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Feeding schedule help

  • It might be different because I'm no longer breast feeding. The sleeping schedule looks very similar. We only do bottles after he wakes and before bed. So he gets a total of 4 bottles a day- 5oz/bottle.

    Here's our schedule:
    645 wake up
    7 bottle 1
    8 breakfast
    945 nap 1
    Wake him by 1130
    11/1130 bottle 2
    1 lunch
    230/3 nap 2
    Wake by 4
    4pm bottle 3
    5:30. dinner
    630/645 bath
    645/7 bottle
               Book
    715 in crib

I think it's normal to slow down with bottles/breastmilk at this age and to eat more solids. Sounds right to me! I would encourage your LO to eat more solids. Sounds like you're doing great!
  • Loading the player...
  • Wake 645
breakfast with a 6 oz sippy of breastmilk
9/930 nap, usually up by 11
1130-12ish lunch with 6 oz sippy of breastmilk
2/230 nap, up by 4 at latest
430 snack, sometimes with a 4 oz sippy of breast milk
6ish dinner with a 6 oz sippy of breastmilk
    730-830ish bedtime

I EP and we've done BLW since 6 months so he eats whatever I eat, and usually more than I'm expecting lol. We just switched over from 3-4 oz bottles randomly throughout the day to big sippy cups with meals. If he seems hungry between meals I'll give him another sippy but we're trying to be fully done with bottles. He's 11 months tomorrow and we're going to start phasing in cows milk in a week or two.
  • 7AM - Wake up, 8oz bottle
    9AM - Breakfast, grain+fruit+protein+yogurt
    10AM - Nap
    12PM - Wake, 8oz bottle
    2PM - Lunch, grain+veggie+fruit+protein
    3PM - Nap
    4PM - Wake
5PM - Snack, maybe raisins, puffs, or animal crackers.
    6:30PM - Dinner, protein+2 veggies
    8PM - Bath time, 8oz bottle after
    8:30PM - bedtime

we are currently transitioning to whole milk so his bottles are part formula part milk. Also, my son is very big for his age. He's probably around 28lbs give or take so he may eat quite a bit more compared to others his age, I'm not really sure.

  • I don't actually look at the clock much except to see if it's been long enough for a nap yet, lol. So I don't follow a real schedule, but he gets breastfed whenever he wants throughout the day (usually around 4-5 times) and two sit down meals in the day. One around dinner and the other after his morning nap when I finally get around to making my breakfast. I feel like at this age he would be okay if I added an afternoon meal instead of a feeding session, so if you think your LO will eat enough then I would try it.
  • @Bellarose212 Our schedule looks almost identical to yours! The only difference is she does four 6 oz bottles instead of 5 oz! I've been thinking of changing to 5 oz bottles soon and seeing how she does with that! She'll eat pretty much any food you put in front of her.

My little guy doesn't have much interest in nursing during the day except for naps. He gets distracted and would rather play. He takes sippy cups of BM at daycare right before his naps.

    5am - nurse
6am - wake up for day
7:30am - breakfast - yogurt or eggs and fruit
    9am - nurse
    9:15 - 10am - nap
    10:15am - snack and water
    11:30/noon - lunch - protein and veggies
    1/1:30pm - nurse
    1:30 - 2:30 - nap
    2:45 - snack and water
    5pm - dinner - protein and veggie
    6:30 - nurse
    7pm - sleep
    11pm - nurse

No, we don't sleep through the night!

Thanks!! This reassures me that what I'm doing is pretty normal. A few of my coworkers are making me think I should cut back on nursing. I feel like society pushes moms to breast feed then their opinion changes as the baby gets older (as in breastfeeding after a certain age is weird). Also, baby girl doesn't sleep through the night either, she'll usually wake up for a 2 minutes comfort nurse and goes back to sleep.
  • Your schedule looks good..

7 wake up ( has to take nexiam and wait 30min before breakfast )
    7:30 yoghurt or 150ml bottle
    8:00-9:30 nap
10:00 cereal / baby porridge made with 180 ml of milk
11:30 snack ( fruit puree) and water (
13:00 lunch ( starch or veggie and protein)
    13:00-15:00 nap
15:30  veggies or fruit and water
    16:30 bottle
    5:30 bath
7:00 dinner eats whatever we eat ( mash it for her) nurses before bedtime
8pm  bedtime  ( if I am lucky lol)
Nurses through out the night...lucky girl has mommy as a human pacifier.

It might seem like its a lot but she eats in small quantities.  Not in a rush to cut the bottles or nursing. As long as she gets 3 solids a day

  • Lo wakes for comfort quite a bit too! He will nurse for 10 seconds go right back to sleep or sometimes I just rub his back. I also get informed that I can cut out breastfeeding "any time now." My cousin kept mentioning that I should at least cut out day nursing.... "Just nurse at night." Like it was the best idea in the world! That is great it worked for her and her family but I am doing it differently. Just roll your eyes and nurse on!
  • So LO turns a year old in a week :( our schedule is as follows:
500 am wake up and nurse
7am breakfast (he usually eats a waffle with peanut butter and 15-20 blueberries and sometimes a cup of oranges too) with 7oz sippy of 1/2 breast milk 1/2 whole milk
    8am nap
    11am wake up
1130 lunch with water or juice (given throughout the rest of the day usually drinks 10-14 Oz of water or juice per day)
    2pm snack with water/juice
    5pm dinner with water/juice
    530 bath
6pm 8oz BM bottle then bed.
Our pediatrician said to keep dairy intake around during 16-20 Oz per day so we just do milk in the morning and at night. I know breast milk is different but we are working on getting him on this schedule for once we complete the transition to whole milk. He also eats really really well so I'm not worried about nutrients.

10-11 am: wake up and nurse right after diaper change.
11:30am-12pm: breakfast--usually a protein and some veggies. This morning it was chicken, butternut squash, and carrots.
    12:30ish: 4 oz bottle
2-3pm: nap (nurse to sleep if at home or nap in the car if we're going somewhere).
5:30ish: another meal of veggie and protein followed by 4oz bottle
*sometimes she will get another 4 oz bottle between now and her next meal if she start acting very cranky* ---or snack of berries or freeze dried fruits if there's something I really need to get done.
8:30 pm: her dinner which is more veggie and protein. Usually whatever we're eating. Tonight it was slow cooked goat leg and zucchini. Followed by another 4 oz bottle.
9:45-10pm: bedtime--however much breastmilk I manage to pump the night before which lately is less than an ounce :( and 5oz milk.

ETA: she also drinks water with meals and will maybe drink 4-5 oz total in the day. We don't give juice. But I just made a batch of bone broth I plan to give her in a sippy.
