Those of you with fetal dopplers, when were you first able to hear the heartbeat? I'm 8+5 today and I've been looking for it since 8+0, but haven't found it yet. I know they say you can't hear it until about 10 weeks, but I'm pretty sure I found DS's before that. I was also a good deal thinner then, so that might have something to do with it.

I thought I found mine earlier with DS too but bleh..I'm 11.2 and can't get it with my doppler. Even the midwife today gave up with doppler. She said it's alot easier after 13w.

I just used a fetal doppler for the first time yesterday. I tried two different times. The first time, I couldn't find the HB, just my HB and my arteries. The second time, I think I heard my little one's HB. It sounded like a heart beat (not a swooshing sound) and was faster than the 120ish rate I was picking up around my arteries. It was also at a weird angle, so I couldn't get it to register loud enough for the doppler to give me a HB reading -thus I don't feel 100% confident. I will probably try again this evening.

We plan on buying a doppler tonight so we'll see if I can pick up the HB on it! Dr said yesterday that I'm 10 weeks but I'm pretty sure I'm only 9. We'll see at the next ultrasound when the image is clearer.

I picked it up at 9+3. The first day I tried at 9+2 and I couldn't find a thing and I made my stomach sore from pressing so hard. The next day I relaxed a bit more and was able to find it after about 10 minutes of searching. I did it again last night, now 9+5, and was able to find it after about a 5 minute search. I was able to find it faster since baby seems to be hanging out on the right lower side and I immediately searched there first. Baby's HB was swish swish swishing around 155. I love that sound!
@chrlyr I'm definitely heavier this time around than I was with my 2 yo, and that didn't seem to effect me finding the HB. That was something that I was afraid of as well but no worries there. You're still super early so I'd give it another week.

I'm having a hard time finding this babies and I'm almost 12 weeks. I do find it, but very briefly and I am trained to use one.

I have the sonoline B also. I first tried at 8w5d and could not find the hb. At 9w1d i was able to hear it and got a heart rate of between 170-180.

I haven't had a doppler at the dr's office yet, but I can't pick it up with mine so far. I'm a pro at getting both my femoral pulses though!

I have a Sonoline B and I thought I might have picked it up yesterday at 8+6, I picked up a beat at 120 but not completely confident it was the baby. I will try again in a few days.

my doctor searched briefly today (10+4) and didn't find anything. She let me have a quick ultrasound instead

I'd say between 10 and 11 weeks.. Still takes some time to find but its there!

This time, 10+1. But it's bc I forgot to try earlier!

Last time around it was 9+4.

Sonoline B - the peace of mind is worth every penny and then some.

Sonoline-B here as well. I've been trying once weekly starting at 6 weeks and found it quickly at almost 9 weeks. So neat!

I'm impressed by all you ladies finding it at 8-10 weeks! The nurse at my OB's office had a hard time finding this little one at 12.

I caved and got one from groupon today. I'm hoping DH doesn't see the box bc he'd tease me endlessly for buying what he sees as unecessary crap. I leave for a vacation to Italy the day after my next ultrasound in 3 weeks and I'm so paranoid something will be wrong and we won't be able to go on the trip.

The probe for my Sonoline B is on the fritz. I could have ordered a replacement probe, but ended up with a Sonoline C with 2 and 3 MHz probes. Oops. In retrospect, I should have had it shipped to my office. DH will not be pleased...

I'm jealous that you've all been finding it so early! I'm 12w4d and nothing so far. My OB couldn't find it on a handheld at my 12 week appointment and had to use the ultrasound machine instead so I refuse to panic yet. If I've still got nothing at 14w then it might be a different story.

My Sonoline B came in the mail yesterday so (of course) I broke it out to use it!! I'm almost 11 weeks and I couldn't find it myself. My husband said "let me try". He found it! It was so quiet that the doppler wouldn't pick up the bpm but we recognized it right away. It was just as mesmerizing as hearing it in the doctor's office!

Side note: I successfully found my femoral arteries so that was ruled out and compared to the baby's heartbeat haha

So jealous of you ladies who have found it! I'm hearing my own heartbeat everywhere. In the middle and at the sides (definitely can tell what are my femoral arteries). Hopefully it's just my retroverted uterus interfering.
