Whats going on this week? Appointments? GD test next Wednesday

Rants/Raves/Questions? Trying to slow the weight gain! I feel like I'm gaining way too fast with 15 weeks still left. Also, does anyone else hate the new Bump site? I liked the old version better.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? We're celebrating our anniversary on Saturday! I guess our go to activity lately has been going out to non baby friendly restaurants. Too hot to do anything else.

Whats going on this week? Appointments? I had a standard monthly appointment on Monday - no issues.

Rants/Raves/Questions? We found a daycare! DH is visiting this morning to check it out and drop off the deposit - I went earlier in the week. It's about $400 less than I thought we'd pay so I'm very excited.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? DH and I like to go to breweries and nice dinners. Occasionally I can talk him into going to a movie.

How big is baby? I don't even know...Oh, right. Pomegranate. Which is ridiculous, because I've never seen a pomegranate that's bigger than a banana, but WHATEVER.

Whats going on this week? Appointments? Nothin'.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone else find themselves irrationally annoyed at BabySizer's "Facts" illustration each week? Like, my fundal height is above my belly button and my baby is more than the size of my hand. That picture needs to reflect that. (Sorry, I guess I'm just in a pissy mood today, but this is me every Thursday.)

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? Uh...drinking at home while watching TV? We also like walking around downtown and visiting the brewery. Our real fun times are on Saturday mornings, though, when we hit up our favorite coffee shop.

Rant: I feel like a psycho pregnant lady! My emotions have taken over and they're horrible. I just found out DH has to go out of town again for business all next week after he just got back this week. So I've been a sobbing mess. Rave: the nursery is painted and that makes me happy!!

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity?
We like to go out to eat and then go do a little window shopping.

How big is baby? Cantaloupe, bag of oreos, and a philly cheesesteak (which is what I've been craving).

Whats going on this week? Appointments? No appts. A few stressful things going on. We have dinner with FIL and SMIL, the Atkins diet lovers, tomorrow night. I hope they don't try to tell me how I need to be on the Atkins, because my pregnant self may just go off on them. Then Wednesday, my MIL comes to stay with us for a week. The woman stresses me out.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? With fall coming, I'll share our favorite fall date jight. We love to go to the corn maze! I'm hoping that I'll still be able to make it through due to all the walking it requires. My feet swell really quickly after being on them for a bit.

@karmba - yay for viability and finding a cheap daycare!

@PensiveCrayon - the baby sizer things infuriate me too. For the fruit, I'm always like are we going off the weight or the length? Bc there is no way my baby is really the size of an X. However, What to Expect told me my uterus should be the size of a soccer ball (which it seems to be) and now I'm going to tell that to everyone who keeps telling me how huge I am.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? We actually *love* weekend brunch. That's probably my favorite "date" activity.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm still overly emotional and thought that would have passed by now. I cry all the time over total nonsense, it's getting old.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? My BF and I love going out to new restaurants in the area, or even to a drive-in movie with a little picnic. But sometimes a night in together is just what we need, it's all about the balance.

Whats going on this week? Appointments? I had my 24 week appointment today. I was more specific in the weekly appointments thread but everything went well.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I know the Rh-neg shot is usually given at 28 weeks which is my next appointment, I forgot to ask about it today and they didn't bring it up. Should I call and ask kind of as a reminder? I know I'll need it because I'm Rh-negative and FI is Rh-positive, plus they had given me that shot during my MMC so I thought I'd need it this time as well.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? Looks like we're pretty similar to you all; we enjoy going to dinner at a local brewery and to the movies. Although if it's for a special occasion we also really like to go on weekend trips. If FI's picking and he's really trying to spoil me we'll go to Olive Garden, I love their chicken gnocchi soup.

Rant: They still can't make up their minds if I can work 1/2 days to keep my benefits. They also won't let me quit going to the endocrinology people even though my ac1 and 4x a day sugars are LOW. Stupid people.

Rave: I was finally able to nail down that I do get the GTT in 1-2 apps, and can hopefully stop with the endocrinology people and the pointless finger pokes. I found out when to start asking about steroid shots, and that if we can make it 7 more weeks Em should be just fine with a short 1-2 week NICU stay. GOALS!!!!!
GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity?
We love to go to Saturday night movies with a friend, her cousin and his GF. The kids all play in the bedrooms, and we watch 2 new Redboxes. We get to splurge and hit a gas station for candy + drinks + burritos/hot dogs.

We also try to do our own movie night once a month. We hit the cheap theater in town and spend like $20 total for the drinks + popcorn + candy.

Whats going on this week? Appointments? No appointments this week. Just got back from vacation and settling back into work. I haven't had a specific conversation with my boss about maternity leave but given where I am now I think it's time. Also, our HR department wouldn't send me the information on the FMLA and leave policies because technically I don't qualify yet - my one-year anniversary is November 2. I can just look them up on my own but it's kind of annoying.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Anybody here considering natural childbirth? I'm reading up on the risks associated with an epidural, and as someone with pre-existing back conditions, I'm not too excited about the possibility of having a needle stuck in my spine.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? Dinner and a concert! Gotta get baby into the good music now.

@PensiveCrayon yes that's what I mean. I just get the nasties about 'transvaginal' like some how my vagina is trying to be trans. I am getting them done to check my cervix length. At 21w we were .8, then at 21.2 we were .6 then at 23 it was .8 then today it was .99. So it's getting better.

No appointments, just celebrating that it is almost the weekend (finally).

Rave - congrats to those who reached viability today!
Question - at our last appointment we had the anatomy scan ultrasound. OB said it is the last ultrasound we get, so how do they determine the baby's size without one? I thought they usually tell you an estimate of weight as you get closer to delivery? And how do they tell that everything is progressing as it should? Just seems strange to me.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity?
Sometimes dinner out, most times an evening in with the fur-kids. We loved going to hockey games when we had a team in town.

@KattyC I'm going to butcher this so bear with me, but I know at this appointment (24 weeks) my OB measured my belly with a measuring tape. I *think* it's called your fundal height and you should measure 1cm for every week that you are, give or take a couple cm. I think they allow a margin of error of like 2cm, or 2 weeks.

Whats going on this week? Appointments? nada. We had our second Bradley class on Nutrition and I picked up the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. Apparently I need to eat more (for the first time in my life). It's scary!

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: DH has been working nonstop, I have seen him for 30 minutes this week. He has a big bid due tomorrow and another one due Monday so he is working Sunday too. I try to remember he is doing this for our family, but it is frustrating because his job takes advantage of him. I need to learn to let it go but I'm worried about being alone when Baby Bells shows.

GTKY: What's your favorite date night activity? We love going out to dinner, miss wine and/or cocktails though! We also like going to sporting events, or wine and beer tastings. DH isn't a huge movie fan because he always falls asleep. I set up a reservation for tomorrow night so we can reconnect between bids at a restaurant that wouldn't be good to bring a baby to.

@gowenc the more I read about med-free the more I want to do it! My Bradley class and my doula are very supportive and I feel like with them I can totally do it. See you over in the med-free checkin!

@Kate08Young the way you wrote the nasties about saying transvaginal made me think you were afraid of growing a penis in your vagina. Too funny!

@KattyC - @ashleaf2018 is right, they will monitor your fundal height and if it is too high or too low they will probably do another ultrasound to check your fluid levels/baby size and/or if baby isn't active enough or there are other concerns they will do another ultrasound. However, if there is no reason for another ultrasound, then I'm not sure they'll give you the estimate. My OBs office doesn't do another one unless there is a concern but I know plenty of women end up getting ultrasounds later on for various reasons.
