Hey Ladies,
I have been very vocal with my BTDT mommy friends, and asking them for their hand-me-downs....well let's just say they stepped up to the request

I now have:
- a dresser full of newborn, 0-3, & 3 months
- a 60L tote full to the point of the lid barely closes of 3-6 month
- a 60L tote where the lid can't close of 6-12 months
- a giant bag of 12+ months (I'm about to separate it into 2 totes - 12m - 24m, and 24m+)
Plus I still have 3 loads of laundry of clothes.
Hubby said that we have officially too much and we should go through it and give some of it away, but I'm feeling that 3-6 months is a long time, and the baby will go through multiple outfit changes a day, so having more isn't necessarily a bad thing, it means we might not have to do laundry every day.
What do you guys think? We have too much and should give some of it away (or sell it)? Or get a bigger bin and keep them?
Re: Baby Clothes - How much is TOO much?
I just was going through my newborn outfits and counted 17 NB onesies and snap sides.... and 8 little leggings, and I was like, I think we have plenty! lol.

I feel like that is a lot of clothes! I feel like with hand me downs- I would go through them and only hold onto what I like or what I think I would put my baby in. Things that are stained- you will find some- I donated or threw out.
Hand me downs can also be a little tricky because a lot of things shrink if they were heavily worn. Some brands like Mini Boden, Hanna Andersson and Gap (at least I didn't find it with Gap) don't shrink too much. But I found brands like Gerber ran really small. And I find that Old Navy really shrinks. For example- we were handed down a bunch of Old Navy items and I kept a lot of the 2T- and when my son turned 2 I could barely get them on him and he's tall but extremely small. He's 3 next week and just 30lbs. But brand new Old Navy items were roomy on him. I also find pajamas and things you were a lot from Carters shrink as well. So when you go through the clothes you might want to pull some of the larger sized items out earlier.
We didn't do crazy outfit changes- I guess we didn't experience that many huge blow outs. But I also did laundry right away and any blow out I had- we washed or at least soaked immediately. I also found that there were some types of clothing I preferred. Like I like zip up pajamas- not ones that button. I like more comfortable clothing for my newborn so you won't see my newborn in jeans. But that is kind of stuff you will figure out as you have the baby and you can kind of weed out items from there.
Edit- also as PP mentioned- some sizes you go through quicker and some last longer. DS1 was pretty true to clothing sizes for age before he turned 1. But he wore a few 24M leggings (smaller than a 2T) up until the spring of 16' and he turned 2 in the summer of 15'.
I also found that with my first, complicated cutesy clothes were never used. I stuck with comfortable onesies and leggings or one piece outfits that didn't have a million snaps or just had zippers. There were dresses and frilly clothes that literally didn't get worn even once. And outfits with hoodies I was too paranoid to put her in, even though they were super cute. Less is more, they outgrow sizes very quickly. But I've definitely bought a ton of clothes, so I should take my own advice.
ETA- Keep in mind, you'll also probably want to buy some things as baby grows. Don't feel like you need to stock up on everything before he/she gets here. Stores will come out with their Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc clothes and they're hard to resist!
0-3 expect them out of before they hit the 3 but some go after
3-6 about the sAmerican out of before they hit the 6
My won and daughter both had way to much I was giving away thing with tags this baby has all hand me downs up to 6 months. The newborn stuff o do have is maybe 6 outfits we have more 0-3. The bigger they get the more they need between drool puke poop and food 2 to 4 a day by 3 months I'd say.

Guess I better let DH know he's likely going to have to go on a baby clothes shopping spree once we know what size our little guy is!
DS#2 due 25 April 2019
Part of this is he seemed to be in between sizes during the weather changes, so we have the same size in summer and fall clothes and so on, then the same size with fall and winter, etc.
However, It does make it handy this time around since the boys will be almost 6 months apart. With taking out all our clothes it means we'll buy less this time, maybe a few pants and a winter jacket, but that's about it.
