Re: Symptoms Thread 8/15/16

  • +1 to the having to eat to keep the nausea at bay but nothing sounds appetizing.

But really -- those of you who work in an office, how are you coping with the morning sickness? Are you taking any time off? Working half days? I just spent the last 30 minutes throwing up in the bathroom, and I just can't see doing that every day for the next 14 weeks. Any advice?
I just had to deal with everyone knowing I was pregnant without me being able to say anything.  I was basically living off Gatorade, saltines and Mexican coke. I either looked clearly pregnant to my co-workers, or like I was having benders every single night.

  • I passed out at work yesterday and when I woke up my boss asked if I was pregnant.  So, that wasn't the "I'm Pregnant!" conversation I wanted to have with my coworkers, especially this early.  The nausea started this morning and it's baaaad.
  • clover28 Well at least its out there although I agree, totally not the way I would hope to announce either. At least no one will give you the sideways glare for eating saltines and preggy pops.

  • Anyone else was really sore/achy hips? I had terribly achy hips with DS, but much later (like 20 week-ish...at least that's how I remember it). Today, my hips are soooo achy!

  • @ebloom3   Yes on the achy hips!  My left hip is killing me.

@Magheeta  Puking at work is the literal worst.  Hope you feel better soon.
  • @ebloom3 and @clover28 when you say "achy hips" where are you referring to?  Like your hip flexors or groins?  Or everything involved in your hips?  My hip flexors through my groins have been hella sore but I just attributed it to being lazy and not doing enough stretching and stuff.
  • @mokay19 It's mostly my hip flexor but sometimes radiates to my groin and down my thigh.  It's weird because it's just on one side at a time.

Yes to the achy hips/legs...I feel like that happened MUCH later last time.

Does anyone else wear contacts and notice that they just aren't comfortable right now? My eyes feel like they burn half the day. I have glasses I wear at night for like an hour before bed (lately i'll change into them sooner) but I can't wear them all day long at work cause they are older and not quite the right prescription anymore so would drive me nuts.

YES! I already have to sleep with a body pillow. I didn't have this until I was around 25 weeks with my DD.

  • @kcasset -- yes. Sounds very much like my diet. Hubby saved the day when he brought me saltines at work yesterday. I came home and crawled in bed. He grocery shopped and made dinner - chicken breast with salt and pepper. That's all I could stomach. I'm just very surprised. I didn't expect the morning sickness to last all day. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've gotten no relief.
  • @missbriarbee same here on the discharge! I wore pantiliners through most of my first pregnancy and it looks like this one will be the same!

Im also exhausted and experiencing headaches but I'm not sure if that's pregnancy related or has to do with DD waking up the past two nights with a fever.

I posted this last week, but am still curious about others' experiences. I keep double-sneezing, multiple times a day. I don't typically sneeze much. Anyone else have this happen?
I've been sneezing a lot the past week or so.  This happened during my last pregnancy as well.  It lasted a couple of months and then went away.

  • Those of you who are cold - do y'all normally have low blood pressure when you aren't pregnant? I do, and I've been taking mine at home and have noticed it gets very low sometimes. I'm going to bring it up to my OB at my appointment, but I'm wondering if the coldness is related to low bp, which I know is common in pregnancy.

  • I go from freezing during the day to sweating buckets at night. I don't know what this baby wants from me!!!!!!
  • @Magheeta I have naturally low BP that I'll also be discussing with my OB next week. I was around 90/60 pre-pregnancy.

Same here. So far, the readings I've gotten when I've felt off have been 95/58 and 88/59. I've tried to increase my sodium intake and I prop my feet up to help with the blood flow. Other than that, I'm not sure if there's anything else to do except wait it out.

  • Nothing too crazy yet at 6+6.  Food aversions, which I can sense will probably lead me down the same road as previous pregnancies where I end up in carb land (a magical place).  I'm super tired, but that could also be from attempting to stay up late every night watching the Olympics.
  • Holy hot flashes! It's unbearable at night. No other symptoms yet. Hang in there mamas!
  • Does anyone else feel crappy after eating? Every night after eating dinner I feel like I over ate and have the worst stomachache. It lasts all night until I wake up the next day and the wonderful world of nausea sets in. I feel like I can't win - if I decrease my portion size, I become too queasy. But if I eat until I'm content, I get the crappy feeling.

Mine are my flexors. Last night, I couldn't get comfortable and needed a pillow between my knees. Today, walking around a lot at work, I guess, compounded everything. My ligaments are definitely pulling too.

I totally am in the same boat @STM2017! So aggravating!  The main reason I am cold during the day at work I sit right outside the IT office which is seriously meat locker temperature. My co-workers laugh cause they'll be in sleeveless and I'll have my fleece jacket on!
At night I go to bed freezing with extra blankets but wake up in the middle of the night sweating like crazy!

  • @cookies754 I'm in the same boat, I have an upset stomach/heartburn all day when eating but if I don't eat I feel crappy anyway. If I don't eat within 30 minutes of waking I feel pretty awful. I'm super glad I'm having strong symptoms, means little jelly bean is growing.
  • I really don't like where my symptoms are going. The nausea keeps getting worse and I have less and less appetite. Also, on a few occasions now I have felt faint and my arrhythmia is bugging me, too. Boo I say!

  • MrsBakes I know how you feel. I just try to remind myself that the end goal is all worth it.

This won't make you feel better, BUT they say morning sickness is an excellent sign. Eventually, if you can stomach it, the Chiptole kids meal was crucial - I'd get black beans, rice and the quesadilla and it was all very mild but protein heavy.
