October 2016 Moms

Moms of Multiples 8/15

Sorry I'm a little late this morning- I feel like the past week has been nonstop crazy for me! Hoping this week is a bit more restful.

1. How far along and what are you carrying?

2. Upcoming appointments or milestones

3. Rants/Raves/Positives

4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?

Re: Moms of Multiples 8/15

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    32+6, twin boys.

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones
Next milestone is 34 weeks, just about a week away!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
We had an ultrasound at the hospital on Friday after my OB was worried about a size discrepancy. That appt wound up taking a full 4 hours!!? I was so irritated by the end, and my back is really feeling it after laying on that table for over 2 hrs. The good news is that everything looks fine, and the clearer pictures determined they're measuring just 3-4days apart. Also it looks like they may actually be mono-di, sharing one big placenta, which is interesting. They were both still breech, so we're looking at scheduling a c-section between Sept 13-20. Just 4ish more weeks!

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?
I work as a family photographer, and just wrapped up my last client. I'm not officially planning to take any clients for the rest of the year, but I'm hoping that by the end of October I'll feel up to doing a few mini sessions. That would help bring in some good money from everyone wanting Christmas card pictures, and I do love my job so I'm excited to get back to it.

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones
NST and BPP today and Friday.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
My mom is here and is being so helpful!

I am done. I seriously don't know how I'll make it any further. I'm basically having constant contractions, I can't sleep, so much pressure because they dropped even lower. Lots of tears.

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?
I won't be going back until January and it will be part time.

  • @nlane0723 So glad your mom is there helping! Hang in there! It is so rough. I appreciated the Dad's Guide to Twins assessment of 33 weeks "By 33 weeks pregnant with twins, mom is physically miserable." Yup.
  • @nlane0723 I'm with you on the constant tears. Everything is so miserable. We are in the homestretch so I hope it goes by quickly for us all. I'm glad your mom is there to help you!
  •  @nlane0723 I hear you on the tears as well.  Between the stretching/discomfort and hormones it doesn't take much these days.

@kmvisioli Ah I wish you were in CO.  All of the photographers we love are out of state & I'm trying to find someone close by for newborn pics of the twins.

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    33+2 - di/di boy/girl twins
    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones
34 weeks on Friday!! Every week at this point is a win :).
    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rants- babies have dropped over here as well.  I'm running to the bathroom ALOT :P.

Raves- we are putting car seats in tonight and I packed my hospital bag this weekend. We've also set up a swing and bouncer in our living room to help our dog start to adjust with the changes. I feel like we are tying up a lot loose ends & as far as "stuff"  we are ready for these babies.  We closed out and purchased the remaining stuff from our Target registry and now we just need to finish up with Amazon.  It's getting real over here - I can't believe the babies will be here soon!!
    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?

I'm hoping to work until the end (although somedays I'm so tired that I would be okay with not working..)  :).  I will get 16 weeks paid with our company's new parental leave so I plan on coming back sometime in January.  My husband works four 10s so he will stay home 2 days a week and we will need daycare 3 days.  I've been looking I just haven't found somewhere/someone I love that is also not SUPER expensive.

  • Thanks guys! We are almost done. I can see the end!

  • @girvin21 I wish I was still in CO too! Ha! Houston summertime is unbearable. I'll ask around with my CO friends for some
photograper suggestions for you. Remind me what area?
  • @kmvisioli   I realized I never wrote back about the area (pregnancy brain ;) ).  We are really close to Elizabeth in C rock.  If you have any recommendations that would be so awesome!  Also- I hope it cools down for you soon!
  • That's right, you are crazy close to where my H grew up! He graduated from Elizabeth HS in 2006. I'll ask around and get back to you! @girvin21
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    30+2 di di girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones
    OB this Thursday
BPP and growth scan next Thursday

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
I guess my rant AND my rave is that I'm still pregnant. So glad these little ladies are still cooking, and that they are seemingly very active and healthy. But, I am also so done. Constant tears over here as well with the rib pain, back pain, hip pain, pelvis pain, contractions, exhaustion, not being able to breathe on my back, not being able to roll over without burning a days worth of energy and calories. It just keeps getting worse, and IF we keep them in until 36 weeks, I can't imagine what it'll be like. Also, my clothes quit fitting.

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?
I will be staying home for at least the first year.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
31 + 5 di di boy girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones
had my first NST this morning and they will continue twice a week (every Monday & Thurs mornings) until babies are here. Everything looked good today.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Holy cow I have slowed down. I am very winded just walking short distances, lots of lower pressure, back pain, hip pain, lack of sleep, indigestion like crazy, pretty much echoing what you ladies are saying!

On a positive note, my baby shower is this Sunday! I am super excited to see friends and family and celebrate with everyone :)

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?
I currently work full time in an office setting. Whenever I go off work, I will be off until Jan. 2. I am already training my replacement so its really feeling close!

  • @girvin21 A friend of mine suggested Laura Woody at Red Mountain Studio (https://www.redmtnstudio.com/?p=1652). Another friend mentioned Selah Photography, but you would have to contact them about family photos since they primarily work in weddings/engagements. Last tip was to post on the Denver Birth Circle Facebook page, which is a resource for both parents and professionals. Hope that helps!

Have fun! A friend of mine used Yellow Paddle Photography for her Denver wedding, and they may also do family sessions. It's basically a collective of start-up photographers, so they are more affordable.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    32+2; boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones

I had an NST & OB appointment yesterday.  The babies seem good.  Dr. said keep hanging in there.  I feel like I'm not getting much out of these weekly appointments.  All he did was measure me, and yep, I'm measuring 40 weeks.  I had a few questions, and that was it.

I don't know whether to be glad or not that they are kind of hands off right now.

What do you go through at your appointments in the 32-34 week range?

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

Rants:  All of your rants go right along with mine.  The pressure, the shortness of breath, the fatigue, the emotions, etc.

Raves:  Hubby has been so much more sensitive to my needs lately.  Our AC broke the night before last, and he went ahead and called the technician, and last night when we got home late from our appointments and back to school shopping for DS, he offered to run to Walmart to get a fan for our bedroom.  We wound up borrowing one from my parents next door, but still, he offered.  He got ice packs out of the freezer, and wrapped them up, and brought them to me without me even suggesting a thing.  BTW, our AC was working, but after having been off all day, it was still in the 80s inside.  My parents don't know it yet, but I'm keeping their fan until I pop these babies out!  :)  Is it possible to be in love with a fan???  I got so cool during the night, that I had to cover up with the sheet and blanket.  That made for some good sleeping.

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?

I work full time in an office, and I plan to come back full time.   If all goes well, I'll be coming back the week before Christmas.  I'm depending on my mom & MIL to keep the twins at home through New Year's so I don't expose them to all of those germs until after the holidays.

I wish we had the resources for me to stay home with them, but unfortunately I'm still paying on student loans from my masters degree.  Daycare for 3 fulltime will put a serious dent in our cashflow, so I'm not sure how realistic me working after the twins will be.  I'm sure it will work out though.  I enjoy the mental challenges at work, but I sure will miss my babies throughout the day.  Daycare has been great for my son though, he needs the structure, and I feel like he's really developed emotionally/socially due to daycare.

    Sorry for the novel.

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    31+1; MoDi Girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones

Start BPP & NST tests tomorrow

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

nothing really, just still pregnant & getting bigger and more uncomfortable everyday!

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies?

I am going to try and take the full 12 weeks, but I have an unpaid maternity leave so it will depend on if we can swing it financially and of course how healthy our girls are. I do have awesome bosses that are willing to work with me and I also am able to work from home some. Very grateful for that! Once I go back to work will be sending all 3 of the kiddos to an at-home daycare who we absolutely love

  • @kmvisioli that's crazy that your doc's just now noticed they are MoDi. Thank god you haven't had any problems! We had an issue with TTTS which was so scary. I am still learning about MoDi pregnancies, especially all the extra complications in labor/delivery. There is a group on facebook for MoDi pregnancy if you would like to join too, the women are very informative.
  • @cnb4hf Yeah! My OB hasn't been overly hands-on, which I actually kind of appreciate. I'm wondering if it got missed because the twins have always been really close together, or if possibly the placentas fused? I'm planning to ask more questions at my next appointment. Thankfully aside from the extreme discomfort we have had no complications or anything so far.

Anybody know how lmno304 is doing?
No, I think she had mentioned not being around as much now. :/
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    28+2 fraternal, both girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones
Saw the Dr Monday and was moved up to weekly appointments. Everything looks good so far he just wants to keep a close watch on me.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
I feel like I am growing daily and I am freaking exhausted. Yesterday was my last day of work...yay! My mom is staying with me during the week while dh is working to help with my 20 month old son.

    4. Question of the week: If you're currently working, what are your plans for post-babies? Post babies I am staying home. It feels weird, I've worked for so many years. With 3 kids 2 and under, dh and I just feel like it is best for me to be home.
  • @AColeman82 staying home will be an adjustment, but I hope you love it! My biggest tip is to find some routine things outside the house, like weekly library storytime or a play group, so you still have some structure and the days don't all run together.
  • Thanks for the ideas! my husband is worried about me getting stir crazy.
