Muscle weakness after shots?

I'm peaking over from March mommies and am posting this for a friend.

Hi all! It's super late, #MomLife lol. My little one had her first set of my immunizations today. She took a nice long nap and fell asleep at her usual time.. We've had some frequent wake ups which was to be expected, but my little one has some very very mild muscle weakness and I was wondering if any current mamas experienced this briefly with their little one? It's not anything drastic, she's still fighting with me during her diaper change, holding her head steady, etc just as her mama I notice a slight difference. **as a new mom I'm asking please please please the absolute LAST thing I need are horror stories or judgement about my decision to vaccinate, what's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander, so please be kind ☺️**

Re: Muscle weakness after shots?

  • Well weakness could be just cause baby is tired.  I heard they will be a bit out of it the day they get shots.  If it persists I would call the ped.

  • It could be localized muscle pain too...I would assume that babies feel the same soreness that we as adults would feel after getting a shot.  My arm was sore for a week after I got my Tdap during pregnancy.  LO may just not want to move as much afterwards to avoid the soreness.
  • I think it's a combination of what @adiaz132003 and @egirl1025 said.

If you notice any personality changes, diarrhea/vomiting, signicant weakness or change in sleeping/eating/peeing or pooping definitely call your pediatrician.
