    How far along? 29 weeks

What size is baby? Butternut squash, or a 1 gallon jug of milk

How are you feeling? Fair. The swelling gets pretty bad in this heat. I'm getting more uncomfortable and can't imagine how uncomfortable I'll be 2 months from now, heartburn is bad on some days and nonexistent on others, not eating as much as I get full so fast, itchy stomach, and pretty tired since I keep waking up throughout the night.

Upcoming appointments? I'm finally on the train with everyone else doing 2 week appointments. So in 1.5 weeks I go in, but it's just supposed to be a quick in and out checkup.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant: At my doctor's appointment this past Friday, they were concerned I was going to have a large baby, as he's currently measuring in the 93rd percentile. Yikes!! The doctor told me to try and slow down my weight gain, and exercise more. I'm on board with that as I know I should be doing that anyways. Although, I've been reading that ultrasounds are pretty inaccurate when predicting weight, so I'm really hoping that this is one of those scenarios... Rave: I am loving the birth class H and I are taking. It's The Bradley Method classes, and we are learning so much. I'm so glad we are taking them!!

GTKY: How are you surviving this incredibly hot, dry, and humid summer? The heat has been brutal this weekend!! I've been trying to drink a lot of water, and just stay inside in the A/C. Last night, H and I went to a comedy club, and the second I walked in I knew there was something off with their air conditioning, A lot of people were complaining, and they said they were working on it, but I felt my heart pounding, I was sweating so bad, and my shoes were getting tighter and tighter. I left 1/2 way through the show, and was shocked that it was actually cooler outside than inside that place (yesterday the heat index was 105 outside). Usually I dread walking outside. Last night the outside "breeze" felt so good on the way to the car. H and I have tickets to the same club next weekend (we go pretty regularly), but I am calling ahead, and if their A/C isn't fixed I"m not even going.

What size is baby? Celery, ferret, 3 chocolate croissants (yum!), junior tennis racket

How are you feeling? A little nervous but very excited. Physically not great at all...carpal tunnel, back/foot/leg pain, heartburn, swelling, etc. My appetite (even dessert/ice cream cravings) took a nosedive, not sure if that's normal

Upcoming appointments? Twice-weekly ultrasounds and another fetal echo this week

Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm not thrilled that the u/s tech (not my fave one anyway) on Friday made it seem like there was something seriously wrong with my baby's size (I think she said 5lbs3oz)...she later said well, that's the 80th percentile (I was told 5-95th is normal) and her percentile didn't jump (so actually she's not growing at an increasing rate). And no good view or pics, supposedly because she was facing my back. Really, really dreading the fetal echo (3rd try) next week. But, distracting myself with superficial things like registry completion shopping and nursery decorating! And happy the baby is still head-down and everything else seems to be going ok

GTKY: How are you surviving this incredibly hot, dry, and humid summer? I don't feel like I'm surviving some days. Had been saying I was in no rush before the last few weeks of worsening symptoms and this heat...now (although I'm NOT wishing for a preemie), I'm done. Survival is mostly staying inside in a/c, drinking ridiculous amounts of water, and eating lots of ice.

What size is baby? Celery, Pineapple, Ferret. 4 lb 9 oz on 8/10

How are you feeling? You know, tired, heartburn, sacral pain. Also having major issues with ankle swelling even with compression socks. Don't worry, I'm monitoring my BP and it's fine. I'm not pre-eclamptic or anything.

Upcoming appointments? Yet another u/s on the 16th and a visit with the doc. Oh to be 40 (that happens in 10 days)!

Rants/Raves/Questions: How much fluid/water are you ladies taking in per day? I have a feeling dehydration might be what's causing all the swelling. I'm thirsty ALL THE TIME and I'm drinking over a gallon a day. I passed my glucose test, and I don't have polyuria or polyphagia, so I'm not worried about GD.

GTKY: How are you surviving this incredibly hot, dry, and humid summer? I have no problems in the heat, so it doesn't bother me. The worst part is having to wear shorts with compression socks. SUPER DORKY. I just bought two pair of compression hose though, so hopefully that'll look a little better, though I won't be able to wear sandals (hose are close-toed).

  • @Pupatella Hubby and I did Bradley classes--we loved them! A lot of the information was basically a refresher for me as a nursing student, but surprisingly, my paramedic husband (who has delivered 9 babies!) learned a ton. I guess they don't teach them how it all works in paramedic training, they just show them how to deliver a baby! Two of our Bradley class babies have been born already--and I'm next! Can't wait.

What size is baby? Acorn Squash, Cottontail Rabbit

How are you feeling? Physically still feeling pretty good, but definitely can tell I am getting tired a little quicker these days.

Upcoming appointments? Wednesday, but just for a quick check up.

Rants/Raves/Questions: We have officially decided on a pediatrician! Everything is starting to feel so real, and while that is exciting, I can't help but think about all of the things we still need to do before she gets here. We are having a shower at our house next month, and I feel like the nursery needs to be completely finished before then, along with a dozen other house projects that we need to finish!

GTKY: How are you surviving this incredibly hot, dry, and humid summer? I guess I am just used to it? Living in the south I expect nothing less than incredibly hot and humid summers. We have adjusted our evening walks with the dog a little later so that the heat is not quite as bad, but other than that mostly just staying inside in the AC and drinking a lot of water.

What size is baby? Acorn squash

How are you feeling? Swollen, tired, uncomfortable, can't sleep...the joys of 3rd tri  :)

Upcoming appointments? I'm also now on the every-2-weeks schedule so I'll be going in a week and a half.

Rants/Raves/Questions: This is the first summer of my life that I've been wishing away. I am so ready for fall - cooler weather, pumpkins, holidays, and baby!

GTKY: How are you surviving this incredibly hot, dry, and humid summer? Like the rest of you, sometimes I'm barely surviving. I force myself to put my feet up in the AC and just relax. I was able to take it easy yesterday, and it's amazing how my ankles didn't swell up! If only I could work from home for the next 11 weeks...

@von1976 My doctor told me to aim for 8 ounces of water for every hour I'm awake, which comes out to a gallon a day (or a bit more). I definitely think the weather is making me more dehydrated and swollen, so most days I'm over a gallon too. Never thought I'd get sick of water!
    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @von1976 I am basically just constantly drinking water. I have a 32oz water bottle that I use at work, and I usually drink at least 3 of those during the work day, in addition to drinking nothing but water at home. I would say at a minimum I am drinking a gallon of water a day, and some days more, but I was a big water drinker before pregnancy too. I do notice on days where my water consumption is lower, that I will get some swelling in my hands. While I do think keeping hydrated helps, it's not going to get rid of all of the swelling.
  • @suzy311 @emt87 Glad to know I'm not abnormal or anything. I drank 142oz of fluid yesterday. Any sort of liquid counts! I've made some decaf arnold palmer that I'm enjoying immensely in this heat, but sometimes I'm SO THIRSTY just plain old ice water tastes delicious!

What size is baby? A ferret or a loaf of bread

How are you feeling? I'm okay.  On bedrest due to the hemorrhoids, so I'm getting a little bored.  Taking lots of naps.

Upcoming appointments? Just had 32 week appt last Wednesday, baby is good at 4lb. 8oz. and is at the 49th percentile.  Have another appt. on the 24th.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm just going to rant about the hemorrhoids and being on bedrest which is eating into my time off when I do go on maternity leave.  I'm a little nervous about the small baby shower my aunts are throwing me this Saturday. I didn't invite any friends or my dad's side of the family due to the last minute putting together of the shower.  Even the RSVP had a one day turnaround from when I got the invite.

GTKY: How are you surviving this incredibly hot, dry, and humid summer? Staying indoors and drinking cherry slushies a few times a week.  The heat doesn't bother me too much.  It's the humidity that makes me wilt.

Yay!!! So glad to see another Bradley class buddy!! We are finding the classes so helpful, and I have so much more confidence going in to do a med-free birth now. My H has also commented that now he feels really involved in the process, and glad he has something to do to help out. When I was at first telling him before we started the classes that I wanted to stay home for as long as possible before going to the hospital, he got so nervous, but now he is completely on board!! :) This Tuesday will be week 7 for us, so none of the girls have given birth yet. I'm so excited to hear everyone's outcomes!!
