Weird witching hours

everything I've read says "witching hour" is from about 6-10 pm. Our LO seems to disagree with that and hers are very random. Last night it was from about midnight to 3 AM and then kind of kept happening. Sometimes she wants to be cranky at 7 AM. Anyone experiencing this or do most of you see some consistency?

Re: Weird witching hours

  • It takes a while for them to get nights and days sorted out. My little guy is 9 days old and he's only beginning to be more awake during the day. Two days ago he cluster fed from midnight to 7 am, today his witching hour was 5 am to 8 am. I've heard they usually set into a rhythm around 2 weeks and that's usually when the witching hour will be in the evenings. But every baby is different.

  • I went through about a week of DD waking up at 1 and not going back to sleep until 6. They kinda need to sort it all out. I was a big fan of "never wake a sleeping baby" so I didn't try to limit daytime sleeping to see if she'd sleep better at night.
  • Our witching hour the last two nights has been 10 pm-midnight. Nothing will calm her. We have tried just about everything and decide to just let her cry it out.

  • We have a late night witching hour as well - usually starts around 1am and goes until at least 3am, sometimes longer. He cluster feeds at night and when he does finally sleep at night, it's only for 60-90 minutes at a time. He's 12 days old and I'm really hoping things get better after the two week mark, because I am exhausted.
  • About 9 pm to midnight over here...  :s
  • Our LO is beginning to regulate a bit (8 days old), but initially he was cluster feeding from 10pm-2am. Each day it has been getting a little earlier, and today it started around 5:30, so I'm thinking he's starting to get his days/nights straight. I do wake him during the day to eat every 2 hours, and then I let him sleep at night, not sure if that's helping. Now that I said this, of course, he'll be a mess tonight, but hey, a girl can dream, right??

  • 9-11 pm witching hour here, with the 7-10 day growth spurt leading to terror those hours a couple days ago. He seems to be getting better though!
