  • I so desperately need some STMs to answer this....

  • I started turning the corner around 10-11 weeks last time. This time, I'm 9 weeks now and my symptoms have dissipated off and on. The past couple of days I've felt great and started to get a little worried, but today I feel like absolute hell. I remember this is how I was last time; I'd feel fantastic for a few days and then feel awful. All of my symptoms were completely gone by the second trimester the last time around and I felt like a new person.
  • Last pregnancy all of my ms symptoms went away at 12 weeks. I didn't have that hangover feeling anymore and all my nausea and food aversions went away. I also didn't feel tired anymore. Instead, I had a burst of energy and got started on the nursery because I didn't know how long this stage would last. It lasted until week 32 for me until fatigue kicked back in but the nausea never returned. 2nd trimester was my favorite last time around because you have a cute bump and you don't feel like crap. 3rd trimester my feet started to swell and I couldn't tie my shoe laces or shave my legs. Oh the joys of pregnancy!
  • With my daughter I was so sick from week 8 to 14. It was so weird cause it wasn't a gradual change, it was like a light switch right at 14 weeks, I felt better out of no where!! It didn't scare me because I was expecting to feel better in the second trimester.  I remember being really happy :)
  • I had morning sickness until about 16-18 weeks with DD, and then I felt wonderful for the rest of second trimester - like extra energy and forgot I was pregnant and had a cute little belly. I've already noticed that my MS is starting to lessen (i'm almost 10 weeks), so I'm hopeful that I won't be so sick for so long this time around!

  • I didn't have many symptoms the first time in the first tri, but I was super tired all the time. I got a burst of energy around the 12 week mark. I don't understand being worried by a lack of symptoms. Unless you're experiencing an actual negative symptom like bleeding, just enjoy that you feel good! But I am also pretty "go with the flow" by nature

This, exactly! I was miserable during the last few weeks last time. I had a desk job at the time, so my feet and ankles swelled up so bad by the end of the day that it looked like I had Elephantitis. The only shoes I could wear to work were a pair of pink Chuck's that were a size too big and they were laced very loosely. It was ridiculous.
  • Last time I didn't have any symptoms my first trimester but MS kicked in at the beginning of my second trimester and I was sick as a dog for a couple of months. Got that burst of energy about the same time as I went into preterm labor so I got put on bed rest and couldn't enjoy it! Lol

This time is totally different. I feel like how my sister described her pregnancies and am just flat out exhausted and nauseous. I'm actually looking forward to that burst of energy everyone is talking about!

I wore Birkenstocks all the time! I'm a lawyer and luckily didn't have any court dates toward the end, but I did go to a wedding in my Birks! That was actually a perk

I had an appointment with my OB yesterday and she knows I'm a basket case about losing symptoms because of a previous loss where I had lost my symptoms too. So she warned me that in the next week or 2 I would probably be losing my symptoms and won't be able to feel the baby move for a while still, but to try not to freak out. But she said that if I do get worried in the time before my next ultrasound I can just call and see if they can let me pop in to hear the hear beat with a doppler. That maked me feel so much better because I know it will be hard for me to not "feel" pregnant for a few weeks.

Maybe you can see if your doctor would be willing to let you call and pop in for a quick doppler check after you start feeling better if you start to worry. It would be worth it to ask if you do feel worried at any point.

  • @GoldenmamaJ That's great that they let you pop in like that. I actually broke down and bought the doppler that everyone on here recommended just for peace of mind. It arrives Saturday. I'll have to be patient and try to wait until 10 weeks before I try it since I'm only 9 weeks and may not find the heartbeat. I don't want to freak myself out.
  • My last pregnancy I threw up only once - in week 12. After that my symptoms were gone. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and already some days are better than others. Seems like mine won't be off like a lightbulb.

  • thank you for this post. As a FTM, I just CANNOT wait for this nausea to end. Hearing STM's experiences of when it ended is really helpful because lots of these types of posts on other websites have mostly people with HG who never feel better...and that is really discouraging to read over and over.

  • @kiyamurph I actually had bought one too because I didn't realize my OB would be so accommodating. I tried to use it at 10weeks + 4days and I couldn't find anything, but I honestly didn't even really know where to look and I don't have the gel. I was setting myself up for failure, but I knew all of those things before I looked so I (surprisingly) didn't freak out when I didn't find it.

I hope your home doppler experience goes better than mine because that will be a nice thing to have at home.

  • Last time my exhaustion never went away or "died down"....I maybe had a week or two where I didn't feel bone tired 24/7, but around 15 weeks sciatica started and around 24 weeks began horrible pain that lasted until birth. Plus the third tri insomnia and nonstop peeing made me long for the first tri.

  • I'm sad to say that for two pregnancies, I had MS on the day that I gave birth. It lasted that long!! During the other pregnancy, it ended right around 14 weeks. I will say that every time, I got that burst of energy in the second trimester which was the best time for me (before the issues of third trimester, which I don't want to discuss too much for fear of scaring anyone because hopefully none of you will have them!).
  • All of my issues besides exhaustion went away around 10 weeks last time and they seem to be this time too. Last pregnancy my exhaustion lasted until around week 20.. I kept asking "where is my effing honeymoon trimester?" Then it got better for a few weeks before all of the lovely late pregnancy issues started.  :)

Mine stopped gradually, not like a light bulb. Vomiting eased around 11-12 weeks, all around nausea maybe 15-16. I couldn't keep a prenatal down until about 20 weeks...I did take the gummies though so no flaming lol. Other symptoms crop up though so you won't freak out. Heartburn and crazy dreams are more common in 2nd tri. I generally felt better but I got this not quite dizziness, not quite headache that I called "fog brain." Like it was hard to think and made my head feel like it was stuffed with cotton my entire 2nd trimester.

  • My symptoms eased gradually last time too. Probably around 13 weeks I felt able to function well enough. But unlike some others I didn't really get 3rd trimester symptoms. I was tired but no more so than before pregancy and I peed a lot but it wasn't really an inconvenience. I worked in my preschool classroom up until I went into labor. I think my MS was bad enough that baby decided I had endured enough in the beginning, she wouldn't dole out symptoms at the end.
  • I think I started having some not so horrible days around 10/11 weeks. By 12+ weeks I felt amazing. It's a crazy feeling after the MS is over and before the kicks start and bump pops. Hang in there hun- almost there!
  • My symptoms with DS were extreme exhaustion, vomiting, and fainting. The vomiting stopped around week 14, exhaustion around 16, and fainting around 18-19.
  • I'm starting to lose the breast tenderness now at 8+1, which I think happened at 9-10w with DS. I didn't have m/s with him. I was tired until 12w.

  • Mine wasn't bad last time, I just had to make sure I was eating pretty regularly or else I'd feel nauseous. I went to work (as a teacher) and remember feeling ok and I was about 10/11 weeks. It definitely went away by 13 weeks. Honestly, I wasn't freaked out but was grateful.. This time around is so much worse and I can't wait to get to that stage!

  • I had morning sickness every day starting at 8 weeks until 14 weeks on the dot. It didn't freak me out because I read that it's normal for it to completely stop around then. Also most pregnant women I've known did not get sick their entire pregnancy from start to finish, so I was going in knowing that there is usually a light at the end of the tunnel for morning sickness.
  • I was sick the entire time...no 2nd trimester relief at all!

All symptoms subsided around 14 weeks, 16 was burst of energy and like everyone says, the second trimester is the best! There are other symptoms you will have so I wouldn't be too worried that you won't "feel pregnant".
  • My morning sickness went away at about 15 weeks last time. You start to feel kicks and movement soon after so you definitely still "feel pregnant". If your morning sickness goes away before then, just feel relieved it's over and don't worry!
