Re: Bumpie of the Week 8*10 - 1MommyRunner

  • What is your first name?
Samantha. Most people call me Sammy or Sam!

    When is your due date?
12/15! The day after my mom's birthday! :)

What part of the world are you from (be as vague/specific as you want)?
North Carolina. The bipolar weather state.

What number baby/pregnancy is this for you?
This is baby #2. We have DS who is 4 and this one is a girl! He's already preparing to be a super hero to protect baby sister. <3

What is your occupation or dream occupation?
I'm a SAHM and I love it! I was a K3 teacher last year and my son got to be in my class, so that was awesome. Staying home with my babies though, is a total dream come true!

Does your/will your nursery have a theme or color combination?
We are going Disney princess! Still trying to decide which one to use for a color scheme. We're leaning toward Cinderella, Ariel or Rapunzel, but will do subtle hints of the others.

Have you bought anything for baby yet?
All the clothes! Baby girl clothes are too cute to resist. We've also gotten some cloth diapers, we already had our glider, her first pair of monogrammed Mickey ears and a crib bumper.

If you have bought things, what is your favorite thing that you have gotten so far?
We bought her a Snow White princess dress with a matching headband. So. Cute.

What is your favorite part of pregnancy so far?
Definitely feeling her move around. She is a literal miracle baby. We were told that this pregnancy would not happen outside of medical intervention, but The Lord showed the doctors otherwise. So every kick is a reminder that she's a true gift from God!

Do you have a favorite maternity/baby brand?
Not really. I do love my motherhood shorts! And you guessed it, Disney baby. (Can you tell we have a problem? Haha)

One thing you will splurge on this pregnancy?
A babymoon! We were supposed to go to Florida over Labor Day, but canceled to be on the safe side. So we're thinking of Charleston or VA beach.

What are your top pregnancy related priorities?
To enjoy every moment of having her completely to myself. Once she's here, everyone will be fighting to hold her, so I'm enjoying not sharing. Also, to spend as much time doing fun things with DS while it's just him!

    What is your favorite book?
The Bible. Otherwise, I'm not a big reader!

What is your favorite tv show?
Gilmore Girls! DH and I quote it often to each other. He has a keychain from me that says "You are the Luke to my Lorelai." <3

    What is your favorite movie?
Thats a tough one! I'm going to have to go with Singin in the Rain. We love the classics. :)

    What is your favorite band/singer?
I don't really listen to all that much...but I will always love me some George Strait. :)

Anything else you would like us to know?
I LOVE to run and am totally planning on doing the Goofy Challenge in Disney 2018. I haven't gotten to run much this pregnancy due to pain and nausea, so I really miss it! Annnnnd that's all I got right now! ;)

  • Nice to meet you! I love Disney as well...we just had a week there in July....So miserably hot but worth it! I hate running but I told DH I would actually try if we lived close enough to be able to do the Disney races. My cousin did the Glass Slipper Challenge and I was super jealous, even though I know it was a TON of work!

  • Totally want to go run in a Disney Princess race one day!

Also, yes to all the baby clothes. I need an intervention! ;)

    Nice to meet you!
  • It's nice to meet you ladies too! :)

You guys should totally do a Disney race, whether it's a 5k or marathon. They're all amazing! I did the marathon this year and the way they fill the course with entertainment (and medical/water stations haha) makes it easier to take! I'd definitely like to try the Princess one year too.

@dmontgo I'm glad someone else is having the baby clothes prob. Haha at this rate I'll have to change her outfit at least 5 times a day so she can wear everything.
  • Love Singin' in the Rain. Now I have to pop that in later on today. I think we need to start a support group for baby clothes. This little one is getting hand me downs from his cousin and one of our friends, plus their godmother is obsessed with buying baby clothes. I've also got baby's first football Sunday outfit ready to go! But all the cute little clothes! My friend (baby's godmother) and I agree we're going to buy all the overalls we can because they're just so stinkin' cute!!!

  • I love Singin' in the rain! Also, a lover of all things Disney! I haven't been in over 25 yrs. We're currently planning a trip. It will be DD's first trip, as well as DH's. I'm a little overwhelmed by it all.

    Nice to meet you!!

I love that you love Disney! I also love that princess room that you're doing. I bet it will be adorable!

I haven't been to DWin 6 years (DL, even longer), but I think I *maybe* could have gotten DH to go there this Fall  for a 2-year anniversary trip (October) if we weren't having this baby; it would have been during the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I saw that they have a new Islands of the Caribbean booth (or whatever they call them), and it's serving Presidente beer! We went to the Dominican for our honeymoon 1.5 years ago, and we drank SO many of those beers. He has been wanting some ever since, ha. But, the cost is not in the budget and I need my vacation days to use towards leave.

Yay for Gilmore Girls! I started rewatching the series on Netflix and am SOOOOOO excited for the 4-part series coming out. It's one of my favorite shows.

  • @phoenix870509 yesssss overalls are adorable! My grandmother, who were naming LO after, was a little southern lady who always bought every new baby a pair. So we're definitely going to have to get a couple for this baby!

@Mamax2 Disney trips can totally be overwhelming! There's so much to do and see. I we've been going at least once a year for the past few years and we still learn something new every time.

@Kacie209 I cannot WAIT for the 4 part series to come out! Have they set a date for it yet? I will totally be dropping everything to be in front of the tv. And thank you! I think we've settled on this color scheme...only without the carriage bed. We don't have quite that much space! ;)

  • I've done a few Disney races and I love them!! I have never did a challenge because honestly idk how my body could do that! Kudos to you :)

    Baby #2 Due December 4

  • I think the official Gilmore Girls date is November 29! If not that specific date it's definitely sometime in late November, pregnancy brain is just kicking in right now. FI and I are so excited though! :)
  • @ashleaf2018 & @1MommyRunner: it actually premiers on black Friday! Nov. 25th will be a great day to sit at home and watch 6 full uninterrupted hours of Gilmore Girls :-)
    EQD born 12/15!

  • @sheshae that's awesome! Which ones have you done? They are so much fun! I've done the Tower of Terror run and the marathon...so prayerfully recovery will go well enough to do the challenge! DH surprised me with a rundisney ring for Christmas last year and it has the goofy challenge on it haha soooo here's hoping!

@ashleaf2018 I'll have to let DH know he's not the only guy who loves it. The wit on that show is incredible!

@jptrumptone Black Friday this year will absolutely be the perfect day to binge watch! I'm usually out shopping, but I doubt I'll feel like it this year.
  • I was gonna post the date for the GG series, but glad someone else did! :)

I usually get the Friday after Thanksgiving off, but may be working this year just due to needing the extra days off on my leave, I start a new position at my company in a couple weeks, and won't be going out of town like I usually do - so I may as well work. So, I'll be binging on the series as soon as I get home!

  • @1MommyRunner - oh my gosh, I want that Cinderella bed for myself!!
  • @1MommyRunner I live on the west coast so mostly the ones at DLand, Tickerbell, Avengers and the Star wars one here. My husband and I did the full marathon in January in DWorld. The only downfall was that I train in a dry climate so the humidity was pretty rough. I love all the races though and can't wait to do some more. My husband wants to do the Star Wars in DLand and the Star Wars in DWorld to get our Coast to Coast medal in the next year or two

    Baby #2 Due December 4

  • Include me and the GG train. So excited for November!

How have I never heard of these Disney runs? I've live within 15 minutes of Disneyland for 18 years of my life...They sound super cool!
  • @KatieJo1205 isn't it gorgeous?! If she's really into princesses when she gets older, we will have to go for it for sure.

@sheshae That is so cool! I would love to do a Disneyland race one day to go for a coast to coast. The Florida humidity can be pretty killer! I can't imagine going from a dry climate to that, so you're awesome. I wonder if I saw you this year! :)

@tinattt23 I had never heard of rundisney until 2014. But I tell DH all the time that the two races I've done are the most incredible solo experiences I've ever had in my adult life. Go for it!
