Rants/frustrations/fears? my numbers have been trending downward in the past couple of weeks. They're not low, just lower than they used to be. My fasting has been around 68-73 consistently when it used to be in the mid-to-high 80s, and my 2hr numbers have been between 80-110 (which is great but they used to be 100-110, then 90-100 for a few days and then 85-90, last night's was 80). Is it possible it's getting easier to deal with? I'm very happy with lower numbers but have gotten a migraine that has not gone away and it started when my fasting numbers started to stay below 73, 9 days ago, I'm guessing my body might need time to adjust to better numbers.
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you? The bedtime snack is not affecting my fasting anymore, for some reason (not that I necessarily want it to!). I tried changing it a few times and still got the same numbers so I'm back to doing ice cream every night. My meal planning has been terrible lately but we're back to doing whole wheat tortilla pizzas because they're quick, easy, low carb and high fiber.

Are you currently diet controlled or medication controlled? Med controlled. Fast-acting insulin at breakfast and a combo of long- and fast-acting insulin at dinner.
Rants/frustrations/fears? My rant is my heartburn. It is sooo bad and last night I was rudely awakened by acid shooting up my throat. It sucks because I can't eat a lot of my go-to meals because they make the acid reflux worse. I am soooo ready to go back to eating what I want!
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you? I'm no help here. Anyone have any bland meals that they want to share?

Questions? None.
Rants/frustrations/fears? Shared this in randoms already, but baby is measuring huge-- four weeks ahead and was estimated to be 7lbs 3 oz at 34.5 weeks. OB was very reassuring on all accounts, though. Said it was common with GD babies and that she wasn't worried since baby looks good on the u/s and had a great NST. She's also happy with where my sugar has been, and we set up an induction for 9/1 (I'll be 38+2).
Also, I was talking to my grandma today, and she said something about how she was lucky her pregnancies weren't complicated like mine have been (I had blood pressure problems the first time). Maybe hormones, but I actually took offense to it. I've loved both of my pregnancies, and the GD or BP problems haven't diminished that for me. I'm active, energetic, and feel great most of the time. I've never seen either issue as making my pregnancies "complicated". They've been more like minor speed bumps along the way.
Actually, one more rant from this weekend... we went to the Farmer's Market Saturday morning. We walk there because it's only about a 15 minute walk from our house. Ate breakfast before we went, and was planning on testing there then splitting a donut with DH and DD from this amazing local baker. Get there and the baker isn't there this week, so first bummer. Then when I test my sugar, after all my walking there and around the market, it's 138 after 2 hrs! I get good breakfast numbers by doing next to no activity in the morning (I am not a morning person). I get that it was just one reading and didn't really mean anything, but it just boggles my mind how diabetes works sometimes.
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you? I don't know why I didn't think to share this before, but one of my big go-to meals has been this Weight Watchers meatloaf. It's got a lot of veggies and oatmeal instead of bread, so it's a really tasty low-carb meatloaf option. I can have it with half a cup of mashed potatoes and a veggie and always get great numbers after! Bonus that DD loves it! https://simple-nourished-living.com/2012/11/weight-watchers-meatloaf-recipe/
Edited to put the correct amount of how far along I will be at induction.

Also, you're so close to being done! Just 3 more weeks!
Are you currently diet controlled or medication controlled? Still diet. Instead of testing before and after every meal plus before my bedtime snack (that's a lotta pokes guys...) I'm now alternating before meals one day and after the other, because they saw some highs but there was no pattern to them. They want to see a pattern before they decide to put me on insulin.
Questions?
Rants/frustrations/fears? I kind of wanted to tear my dietician a new one last week... I've been really focused on my diet and what I'm eating, and probably depriving myself more than I should; one of the things I cut out completely was fruit juice, at the advice of the dietician. I went out for dinner last week with a bunch of my nursing buddies from work and we had a really great time. I decided to indulge in a virgin pina colada and some cheese cake for dessert. Definitely had a high that night, I think it was around 8.4 (about 150 in US value), which was understandable considering usually I get up and walk right after dinner, but we were just chilling around the table for hours after. At my GD appointment with the dietician/nurse the next day, she tore into me for it. Like looked at my diet sheet, said it looked really good and then zeroed in and started berating me for having ONE freaking cocktail and a piece of cheesecake (which is really more fat than carbs). Even the nurse was like, well sometimes you just need to go for it and treat yourself. But the dietician wouldn't let up, until I was like ok, no more virgin cocktails, got it, and the appointment was done so I left, and cried a bit in the parking lot.
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you? Not really, but thank you @camichael84 for that recipe! Dinner tonight!
35+3 I don't believe it.

Diet controlled still
Questions?
What is the average fasting number, like its supossed to be below 90 and above 70 but should I be aiming for the 70's or are the 80's okay? This morning was 85 and I felt like that was too high.
I know its obvs. below 90 but like...do you get what I mean lol
Rants/frustrations/fears?
My numbers have just been all over the place. Nothing out of the limits high but tip toeing the line a few times. But then I also get low low numbers too.
So...whatever GD, do your thing.
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you?
1 pop tart is 30g of carbs. Just throwing that one out there
Are you currently diet controlled or medication controlled? Diet
Questions? Nope. @Megan324 my fasting is usually in the 70-80's but I think anything under 90 is fine so I wouldn't worry. Depends for me on what my evening snack was, I get 80's when I eat ice cream but my midwife was happy with that and encouraged it.
Rants/frustrations/fears? Finally got my strips on Saturday! And now I have tons so at least I won't run out again. Numbers have been pretty good, only occasionally do I go over 120 at my 2 hour and it's always something I ate that was high carb that meal. My midwife said they'd let me go to 41 weeks before inducing which was nice, baby has been measuring in the 33rd percentile.
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you? No new ones.
Are you currently diet controlled or medication controlled? Diet.
Questions? Is it bad I want her to be early so I can eat like a normal person again? I'm mostly joking (I want her to be fully cooked first at least...)
Rants/frustrations/fears? Not really GD related but I am stressed so much right now. I asked work to schedule me less and instead got scheduled more, mostly because we lost someone lost month and are losing a second person this month with no replacements yet. I also started school and decided to start with my worst subject in order to try to get it out of the way, but now I don't think I'll be able to finish the class before she's here. My mood is affecting my diet, making it hard to keep up with the schedule and resist temptation for comfort foods. But my numbers have stayed good at least, so... I don't know. I'm tired.
Helpful tips/meals or snacks that work well for you? Popcorn turned out to be a decent snack choice, it's fairly low carb if you do the serving size (half a bag) and it's nice and salty. I also went to Taco Bell and my numbers stayed good, so yay.
@camichael84 I can totally understand what you mean. DH is always saying now how this pregnancy has been so hard and complicated and I'm over here chilling and counting my blessings like huh? He even said he doesn't want as many kids now because of it. I feel I have had a pretty normal pregnancy and GD is just something that happens, not a big problem. I'm like, I haven't bled after implantation bleeding, we never had to rush to the hospital worried something was terribly wrong, baby's never presented an issue with defects or cysts at an ultrasound... this is all a very straightforward pregnancy, we're lucky!
@yellowrose314 I didn't know that was a thing. My doctor checks my numbers at every appointment and I will ask about the fasting ones. I was a little worried this weekend when I overindulged by having BBQ wings, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and steak slathered in BBQ sauce (and had a cupcake a little before at a birthday party) but my 2hr number was 99! I was pleasantly surprised but also like, wut? I for sure was right at or went over my carb limit.
I just feel like this week is going to drag along until my appointment.
I posted in the random thread about it but I had a nightmare that he was measuring huge and the doctors were all screaming at me that it was all my fault and that I hurt my baby.
I know that I'm actually doing a great job of controlling it and that he will be fine but apparently my sub conscious is nervous lol
What brand of ice cream do you like? I've been using Breyers Carb Smart because it's low in sugar and carbs, but they only stock vanilla and chocolate at our Walmart, and I'm tired of those. I need some variety.
Also... I have my first NST tomorrow. I've been having contractions for a week now, so I'm anxious to see what baby's up to and if I've dilated more. I'm anxious to be done like everyone else because I'm so uncomfortable and tired of contracting all day... But I am also secretly hoping he's born this month so he can make the September 1st deadline for entering Kindergarten on time. Silly, I know!!
Let us know how it goes tomorrow! I hope everything goes well

On the topic of ice cream. We have a family owned ice cream shop two blocks from my house.
Being post gastric bypass, I almost always eat sugar free ice cream. I convinced the owner last year that her black cherry vanilla sugar free was the best ever and now she keeps it year round.
We went in a couple of weeks ago and I was concerned about my intake of artificial sugars so I ordered the regular black cherry vanilla. It wasn't nearly as good.
They sell the ice cream by the scoop but also in pint, quart and gallon size. I might have consumed a few quarts this summer....

I was put on insulin last week in an effort to control my uncontrollable fasting numbers. So far it's been okay. The first three days I was in the 90's. The last 2 days I was back up to 103 and 100. If I'm still at 100+ tomorrow, they'll up the dosage. Those fasting numbers have been a heck of a challenge the entire time.
Questions?
Rants/frustrations/fears?
My amniotic fluid level is trending high - AFI was a 20 at my u/s last Thursday. My MFM was very reassuring and kind, but was blunt that it was due to the high fasting numbers and that she did not like it. She wants it to be in the teens by the time I deliver. They will not let me go past 39 weeks in my practice, so I have about 2.5 weeks to get it together. Now I know why my belly is SO BIG and literally feels like it's going to explode. I am so, so uncomfortable. Baby is probably measuring at 7-7.5 pounds by now (based on my last growth u/s 4 weeks ago) so I'm just ready. I'm so ready. I had contractions for 8 hours on Sunday night, and I really thought that was it, but they died around 4 AM. I've had intermittent contractions since, but nothing substantial. So just hanging in there!

I went to the hospital because I suffered random loss of vision and they couldn't determine the cause. I told the L&D doctors about the lower numbers, but since I'm not on insulin and I wasn't under 70 (my number was 76 after eating 2TBS of peanut butter) they didn't seem concerned. I was under 70 for fasting this morning. I'm wondering if I'm being paranoid, but I don't understand why the sudden change and why I can get away with eating more carbs than before. Should I just accept it and be happy I can have more variety like I've been whining about? Lol. I'm going to ask my doctor about it at my clinic appointment either way, but that's not until Friday, so I have a bit to go before I can hear an answer.
Hi Ladies-
Update on my GD/non-GD/horrible doctor situation.
Yesterday we went to MFM, baby is in the 40th percentile. Fluids look great, nothing out of the ordinary. We met with a perinatologist who said that because I am post-gastric bypass there is really no good test to show if I do or don't have it. However, they look for complications or indications of issues, such as a larger baby or a lot of fluid. My fasting sugars are in the margin of error or high-normal range. My 2 hour tests, regardless of what I eat are in the low-normal range. His recommendations were to keep eating a diabetes friendly diet (I was doing this since long before I got pregnant due to the gastric bypass), go for weekly blood tests, and not to carry the baby past 40 weeks. He felt so bad about all I was going through he gave my husband his personal cell phone number to call with questions.
Today I went to the new obstetrician. I feel like she was sent from above. She basically agreed with the perinatologist on everything. She didn't focus on what I can't/won't do she focused on what the ultrasound and blood tests showed her. She answered all of our questions. I may not have her for delivery, I am going to have one of the four in her office. I am so happy.
Thanks so much! I should have switched months ago.
A few weeks ago eating carbs at dinner would make my fasting over 95. Now they don't move. Diabetes is weird.
It really reassures me.
and I get an ultrasound after! I just love seeing that squishy face

NST went ah-ma-zing. He "passed" the test within 10 mins and the nurse called him a show off.
Then at my U/S he is measuring perfect perfect and only 5lbs 11oz (they didn't tell me the percentile but my OB said its great for 36 weeks)
AND she said NO MANDATORY INDUCTION
