Re: working moms check in 8/9/16
How's your week looking? Crazy, next week is my last week in the office and I think folks are starting to realize that and panic. I'll be working from home but it won't be easy access for some folks to get a hold of me. Hoping to finish strong since we're off Friday but I'm already tired and losing focus!
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? Trained all I'm gonna and gave them notes, it's up to them and God.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego?
Worse: I'm quite tired of being watched like a ticking bomb or told how miserable/big I look. I know what I look like and some days I think I look better than I'm told I do which just makes me feel like crappola. Now I can't reach my keyboard properly and sitting is no longer comfy without a fan right on me and laying waaaay back.
Best: I get random treats from folks when I least expect it. That and guys are offering to carry/hold doors more often. Not always but more is good/nice
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due? Heck yes, I'm due 9/3 which is right with quarter budget update and 2017 budget year planning. I can't stand I won't be here for it and I've had to let go of the process to someone else but maybe this is a test for my patience and ocd - perfectionist mentality... who knows just rough timing especially with my company in bankruptcy. I'll be back asap pending dr sign off to ensure my role is good to go and the budget is set for next year plus if I don't come back timely I'll have to wait for the retention bonus that we seriously need to pay off debt. I hate that is controlling time of being with my baby but I have to look long term and financially since I carry most of the financials with hubby working hard as a contractor since his layoff.
How's your week looking?
It's dragging!!
How's training of replacement/backup coming along?
I need to get to work on that, there's one part of my job that will require more effort than I realized.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego?
Best? Ummm....there's usually free food at least once a week. In the break room!
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due?
We actually did plan it, but didn't realize that it would happen first try again and would end up putting me due at the time I was due last time. We are an annoying, very fortunate couple that got pregnant twice, first try. I've had 3 very close friends go through fertility treatment, including my brother and his wife, and I never thought it would happen for me like it did, twice. So I might wait one month to try if I did it over so the birthday would definitely be different than her sisters, but in the end, I am so happy and so fortunate that I don't care.
How's your week looking? Work wise it's not really busy, but I have a lot of stuff on the personal side of the house taking up a lot of my work day. Picking up papers a half hour away, because god forbid we e-mail anything, waiting over an hour for a tech to come look at my washer, shooting the shit with my commander after our meeting, 3 hours of ABA therapy tomorrow with our younger son and teaching a resiliency class for 4 hours on Thursday... none of that actually pertains to my job. I'm so over work.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? My supervisor is filling in for me but it would be nice to discuss the schedule with her while I'm out.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego? Right now it feels as if I'm wasting my time at work because I have 10,001 things to do at home and elsewhere.. But I do snack a lot and I enjoy talking about babies with my co-workers. One is 4 weeks ahead of me so I am waiting patiently for her to pop!
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due? We did plan it out and like @MrsVoorhees we didn't expect it to happen within the first month of trying. LO will have a birthday a month before DS2 and our anniversary so it's like back to back celebrations. Everyone, apart from myself, is born during the fall/winter months which leaves the summer celebrations for me! I would've liked to spread the wealth and maybe have a spring baby.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? I don't have a replacement - someone from another location is handling the majority of my work while I'm out.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego? I work in the office of a factory. The factory floor is insanely hot. In some places, it's over 110 degrees. I sometimes need to go out there for extended periods of time and I need safety glasses and cap etc - the heat gets to me instantly. Otherwise, it's the tiredness that randomly hits me, but I've been so busy I don't have time to think about it.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due? I think it all happened when it was meant to. We tried for about 8 months prior so anytime before then would have been nice as I've been ready to start a family for a long time, but I believe now is the right time.
How's your week looking? slow, for the first time ever. I volunteered to take on some additional short term projects that I can complete before I go out to take some of the pressure off the rest of my team.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? replacement still hasn't been officially hired. At this point I'm taking the "it's not my problem" stance. They've known forever that I'm going out so this is not on me.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego? best - I'm off new assignments so my workload is as low as it's ever been. Worst - I'm so exhausted and my feet are now so swollen that it hurts to wall anywhere.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due? I actually like where we wound up. I would have liked this to happen a year or do ago so the kids are a little closers in age but as far as time of the year goes, I'm pretty happy with the timing. I'll still be on leave during Christmas and won't have to go back until after the new year.
How's your week looking? I just finished 5 days of work in a row, which is an oddity for me. I'm so glad it's over. I get three days off but two of them are filled with doctor appointments, so it's only kind of time off.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? I just met my replacement today! He was hired yesterday. He learns quick and seems like a great fit, I'm glad my manager found somebody good
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego? I'm so tired. It's hard to eat on schedule with how busy we are. I can't really think of a best thing. Maybe how willing everyone is to help me out because of it.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due? I would have waited a few more years. Lol.
How's your week looking?: Better than last week. Last week was shit and included me crying in the bathroom twice & writing my boss an emotional email apologizing for how crappy I've been at my job since January.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along?: Good, he has finally started taking control of my advertising duties so I can back off and manage/monitor more. I am so tired, and just so distracted, a lot of things weren't getting done right by me so I'm glad to take a back seat for the rest of my time before leave.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego?: I guess the best thing for me is how excited everyone is. And also the fact that they threw me a huge baby shower. The worst thing is being tired, uncomfortable, and feeling totally useless.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due?: Summer is not my favorite time to be pregnant, but we tried for 2 years for this baby. So I don't really mind the timing. I'm just happy it happened.

How's your week looking?: Not so bad. I have one more big deadline on Friday but it's just a writing thing. I can write as soon as I can get my brain to function.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along?: She's still not here until Monday, uuuuuugh. I have meetings set with her next Thursday and Friday to really get her in line on my cases then I think I am going to stop coming in/ work from home, which my doctor has been gently advising for quite a long time now.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego?: I guess the best thing for me is how excited everyone is. And also the fact that they threw me a huge baby shower. The worst thing is being tired, uncomfortable, and feeling totally useless.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due?: Like a lot of other people, I did plan this pregnancy. It's the result of one working ovary and some great fertility drugs, after a medically difficult pregnancy loss which led to the loss of the other ovary. So, I am grateful regardless of the summer heat/ work timing. I also think a fall maternity leave is going to be great, and also coming back to work in December I think will not be that bad. It's the holidays, so it should be a lower pressure time to come in than January would be.Today is my last full day. Tomorrow I have a meeting then work from home the rest of the day.
My back hurts. I just need the motivation to get through today.
I don't know how women who live in other states do it. I love that we get the "use em or lose em" four weeks before. In my case it will be about 2.5 weeks, but I love my job.
How's your week looking? LONG!
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? Yea no. No replacement huge deadlines. Lots of stress
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego? very tired. Ready for maternity leave in 3 weeks
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due?
1 month earlier would have been nice!
BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18
How's your week looking? Our bathrooms are being renovated on our floor so we have to take the elevators up three floors when we need to use it. Not so awesome considering I go at least once an hour.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? No replacement here--I'm working from home throughout most of maternity leave.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego? Best thing: keeps me busy and the time goes by quickly. Worst thing: bathroom situation described above.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due? No--it falls perfectly that I return around Christmas when work is slow anyway and I can continue working from home. So Baby Girl won't have to go to daycare until January!

How's your week looking?: I have tomorrow off, PTL. Couldn't be more excited.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along?: My back up is still insane. He's coming again next week, and I am dreading seeing him.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego?: Best - people are super nice, kind and accommodating. I bet this will get irritating by the end, but for now it's so sweet.
Worst - My patience, kindness, and general attitude have all taken a major nose dive the past few weeks. I haven't apologized to anyone yet, but I've been in a few meetings where people look a little stunned that I am so direct, blunt, unforgiving. Part of me likes it, part of me worries I've gone too far. I used to be able to detach myself and always be very even tempered and diplomatic - and LOL seems like I have 100% lost that ability.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due?: No, but if and when I get pregnant again I'll try for a winter or spring baby. This timing worked out so perfectly since I finished grad school in May, and we prayed and prayed for this baby, so I am thrilled to be here now, 37 weeks, swollen in August with a head index of 110.
How's your week looking?
Not too busy but back to 5 days a week which is hard. I already miss Fridays off and have requested 2 vacation days to give myself a break.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along?
Replacement probably won't start in time for me to train but hoping for a couple days together to at least review basic tasks. Our summer intern will continue in Fall so that's a big help for some of the smaller tasks.
What's the best/worst thing about working and being prego?
Best: Random conversations with coworkers I normally don't talk to.
Worst: fatigue, pregnancy brain=forgetfulness, uncomfortable sitting positions and generally feeling like I don't want to come into work every day but rather relax at home lol.
GTKY - If you could have planned this pregnancy, would you have changed the timing you're due?
I don't think I would change the timing at all. I believe in things happening for a reason and though being pregnant during summer was a bore it has allowed me to take off more time from work because of paid holidays and vacations already scheduled in my organization. God always has a plan!
