So..

edited August 2016 in September 2015 Moms
I gave my son a bloody nose today.  :'(
ugh. I felt like the worst mother on the planet. He was chewing on the cardboard of his book, so I took it away and tried to toss it on the couch, that was literally 3 inches from me. It slipped out of my hand and it fell on his face. Of course it was the corner of the spine too. To see it hit his face and then the pain I caused him...if he has a black eye tomorrow I'm going to lose it

Re: So..

  • Oh no!! Don't feel bad. It happens. My kiddo was crawling up my back today while I was sitting on the floor. I was talking to my parents so when I felt her feet slip, I figured she'd grab onto me to catch herself like usual and go figure, she fell straight on her head..hard! Poor kiddos are much tougher than we give them credit for!!!!

  • Ahh love, don't worry, like pp said, it happens. I know you feel bad. I gave our little guy a new toy the other day. He ended up cutting his lip quite badly, as naturally it went straight in his mouth. It bled for ages. It's horrible seeing blood from your baba.  Try not to beat yourself up about it Hun. I'm sure he'll be fine. :)
  • I slapped mine by mistake. I didn't know she was there. She cried for two seconds, I cried for much longer.
  • My neighour and I were just discussing the parent caused boo boos that our kids have had. I think they happen more often than we admit!
They are a good reason for extra snuggles!!
  • So i read your post @ 5 in the morning & i was going to respond & tell you you're not the worst & shit happens & Noah loves you no matter what....

THEN one of my boys woke up crying & couldnt go back to sleep so i put him on my bed with me.  He fell asleep in my arms & rolled over onto my husbands spot which is by the wall. 740 am i hear a bang & him cry. :disappointed: he fell off my side of the bed. I dont know if he rolled over & fell, if he crawled over & fell i dont know! I have a queen size bed which is high. I felt awful! Still do. When they fall asleep with me, which is rare since we never co-slept they stay in my arms i dont let go. This time he decided to roll to my husbands side out of my arms & a few hours later he fell. They have gone 11 months! 11 momths 1 day exactly without falling off of anything, & boom! I was like dude we almost made it a year without you falling out of something. My heart hurts right now even though he got over it in like 45 seconds. So im there with you momma

    Is his eye/face okay?
  • It happens @chelseajeanene! Noah will be just fine! Piper was hanging out on the couch with her bros while I took pics, looked at the phone to see the pic I had just taken, and BOOM! She hit the floor. Like PP said, she cried for two seconds, I cried a lot more!
  • Ditto everyone saying not to worry about it. I was putting DD#1's sandals on last week, and I didn't see that DD#2 had gone onto our mudroom. DH was outside, getting the car ready, so he didn't know either. He opened the door and WHAM, she literally fell out of the house and onto the landing. (She had been standing by holding onto the door that opens out). She still has the scrape on her nose, although it's almost gone now.

  • No bruise today thank god! I just wish I didn't see it hit him in slow motion
  • Seeing it is almost worse. I thought I had enough time to wash my hands before he could make it to the edge of the bed. Nope. Ran back into the room to see his head bounce of the (thank god) carpet. Oddly enough, he doesn't try to go off the edge now.

Oh, and I can't forget that one time my hand slipped while tightening his harness and I punched him in the face

Oh my god, I did the same thing with the harness when we first got our convertible car seat! I felt AWFUL. Haven't done that again!
  • I very stupidly sat my girl in her car seat and didn't do up the straps cuz I had to do something that would take 2 seconds, and she dove head first out of there, towards the open door! It is in a van too, so she was high up.  I broke her fall just as she smashed her face on the floor (thankfully got her before she could further fall to the concrete ground). She now has a bruise on her nose and a lip that's 2x the size as normal. I feel so bad and will never do that again. (I never should have in the first place). Poor little girl
  • DD decided to fall off the bed today too...almost 11 months without falling off and it finally happened :( She cried for a minute and I just held her and apologized for forever lol. But it wasn't near as bad as the time I cut her fingernail too far...Oh my stars...that broke me. She was 3 months old at the time and her little finger bled and she cried and I cried and it was just awful  :'( Everytime i clip her nails I think about it too!
  • DS has fallen off the couch and our bed, both instances were so scary for me! And when we first switched to his convertible car seat I accidentally pinched him on his chin with the chest clip. I felt awful!! I also hit his head on the top of the car almost every time I put him in (thank goodness for his helmet, huh??). I usually cry more than he does. Glad Noah didn't have a bruise though! So sorry that happened!
  • Rolled right off the couch after nursing and face planted onto the floor! It was the middle of the night and I had fallen asleep. Usually I put my arm around her but must have lifted it in my sleep. She rolled right off and I only woke because of the loud boom. I cried far longer than she did.

  • We went to meet a group for a picnic. I got there first and was moving the signs someone had taped to the bales so I could put out a tablecloth. I stupidly put Jackson on the bench of a table and as I literally move ten feet away I see him stand up, turn around, and nose dive off. He hit my backpack and then the concrete, so he only got a small scrape but he cried for so long. I swear he finds a way to bust open the scab every few days so he's had the same scraped up eyebrow for three weeks :( every time I see it I feel like a bad mom.
