Headache Relief...HELP!

I an 12w1d and I have been getting headaches more frequently and more severe past couple weeks. The Dr recommended I try 1 extra strength tylenol  (500mg) and a can of coke. Sometimes this works others (like right now) no such luck. I drink a ton of water throughout the day so don't think I'm dehydrated. Anyone else having similar problems and find something that works?!

I'm having really bad headaches, too. Mine are concussion related though.  But my neurologist said basically the same thing, stay hydrated, rest, and have a little bit of caffeine. He had also put me on a 12 day course of steroids which helped.  But the headaches are worse now. Whenever I move it feels like my brain is shaking in my skull.  My OB is concerned because I'm vomiting more the past few days.  Told me to f/u with the neuro but neuro is out of town.  So the one who is covering for him suggested I get an IV infusion of steroids and Benadryl. More steroids?!! I don't think so.
So now I have to tough it out and wait for my own neurologist to return from vacation.  But it's okay cuz I'm not working so I can handle it for now.

  • Try ice packs with Tylenol and coke. That's my favorite combination. I've had a headache, up and down in intensity, for 10 weeks. It's awful. Dr can prescribe something that was described to me as Percocet minus the aspirin, plus caffeine. I'm not working either, so I've been toughing it out. It's the worst.

  • Ice packs help me sometimes. Or just taking the Tylenol and going to bed if I can helps. Sometimes though there's just nothing you can do though honestly.

  • Here is a thread that got buried, but there is heaps of good stuff in here: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12684741/constant-headaches-ugh-whats-working-for-you

Like @HeatSparks, Tylenol and coke works for me, too. I picked up those tiny cans and that seems to be just enough caffeine to get rid of my headaches.
  • Tylenol doesn't really do anything for me. My neurologist doesn't recommend caffeine because of rebound headaches which I didn't even realize were a thing until I cut out the caffeine for headaches unless I'm super desperate like at work and I can't leave. Naps, heat on my neck, ice packs on my face/face in the freezer, massage all help.
  • Do you guys know if Pepsi works, too? Everyone on here has been saying "coke." Not sure if because it's just easier to say coke or because Coke still has cocaine in their recipe???

Coke has been cocaine free since like 1929... There just referencing coke for the caffiene.

  • I would have loved to have tried Coca Cola in the 20's.
  • Buahahaha! I was being sarcastic but thank you!!

To be fair, it was a ridiculously small amount.

I like getting Cola at the Mexican markets in the glass bottles, with the good syrupy taste. Yum.

That is the best way to drink it ;)
  • I use an essential oil roll on blend for light headaches during the day.  If that doesn't work then one tylenol at bedtime.
The essential oil blend is lavender, lemon, peppermint and copaiba.  Don't know the ratios b/c I bought it from a friend.

  • A small amount of peppermint oil rubbed on your temples can work wonders. I also diffuse some in my diffuser. Lots of rest helps as well.
  • If hydration and caffeine aren't helping, I have found it has to do with glucose dropping. If you don't eat frequently enough, your blood sugar will drop and cause a headache. Just try to eat more snacks and don't go more than 3 hours without food.

  • Tylenol and caffeine work wonders for me (this is my second), but I would stay away from coke (personally) because sugar is a trigger. I find tea works a lot better for me.
  • I have begun the second trimester headaches this week. My Dr told me try Tylenol PM at night if they are effecting sleep, and during the day Tylenol and a little caffeine if needed. Plus to make sure I am staying hydrated and eating enough because hunger and dehydration can be big triggers. Also, to make sure I am TRYING to get enough sleep....which is hard lately...sleep is not an easy thing lol
