@AllyTheKid That all sounds awful (Walmart- ugh; touchy strangers and unattended children- UGH) but I love your DD's PSA! I might have to teach that to my DD.
@AllyTheKid Why oh why do people think it's ok to touch someone else's child? I would never, ever do that. If a baby is looking at me, I'll smile, but it's so inappropriate to touch or even try to sweet talk to someone else's kid. Drives me bonkers.
@emmaaa Between my anxiety and I'm guessing hormones, I seriously wanted to punch that woman for 1) Not watching her own kid and letting her actually stand right beside strangers at their basket 2) Putting her hands, regardless of her intentions, on MY baby... it didn't help that they both just looked dirty =/ When a 4-year-old has to lay down the law, a line has been seriously crossed.
@Kaessi@ball4768@amye102485 I will never understand what possesses people to do that... and DD was already on guard from that other little girl in line, she wasn't having it anymore. It was a little awkward, but I was thinking "Yeah! What she said!" I feel like wimp that my daughter has to handle my dirty work for me though.
@AllyTheKid I don't think those are unreasonable expectations. i mean, really. I live in the South. We make friends in the line at the grocery store. BUT your momma, or guardian, better teach you to keep your hands to yourself and to listen to adults. Neither of which this little 4 year old was doing.
To add to the belly touching stories.. when I was pregnant with DS, we stopped at McDonalds for lunch. A random woman asked if she could pray for me. I said yes just assuming she'd keep me in her prayers or whatever.. but oh no, in the middle of McDonald's she put both hands on my belly and began a loud prayer ritual about mom's and babies during childbirth. In uncomfortable situations, I tend to laugh. I could not help but start to chuckle and then she stopped and said "Oh I feel him kicking..." um.... no lady, you feel me laughing because I think you are insane. The whole thing just made me so uncomfortable I had to get out of there quick.
Love Christmas decorating, and my tree also has to coordinate with the wrapping paper under the tree. I lucked out though in the present wrapping department because my husband is amazing - like seriously, it could be in a magazine Christmas special. The other bonus is he works nights, so he's always willing to put in a movie and wrap gifts during the day while we're at work or school.
@AllyTheKid, i love that your 4 year old is regulating!
@SpaceBurger@bnsmith85 those armholes. I will never comprehend! All the teens are wearing these outfits with high waisted shorts....and super dark lipstick on. I feel like I'm getting old. I don't understand this fashion statement.
@ammetko04 that is a crazy story!!! It made me LOL. Two weeks ago the lady at the bag-check at the Southwest counter asked me if she could touch my belly. Hahahaha. I said yes, then she gave me a Pre-Boarding Pass because "no pregnant woman should have to stand in line". Score!
@allison.smith.6212 can we borrow your husband for some Christmas wrapping??? Mine doesn't believe in wrapping gifts.
@nlane0723@maf9866 All of this for me too. DD is 7, and I actually had a little talk with her before we went to bed about this last night, kind of. Basically just told her to speak up if she's feeling left out or anything, either to me or DH, or if she isn't comfortable talking to us, talk to my mom or another grandparent, etc... because basically we all have no actual idea how this will impact our daily lives until we get there, and I don't want her to end up in her room playing all by herself all the time because she's feeling pushed out or something. I'm going to reiterate it again every few days-ish until LO is here just because I want to make sure she feels important too.
@bnsmith85 I'm SO happy to hear that you have a plan for your pooch! Sending you all the best vibes that everything will keep working out! And your photo of him sleeping on the pillow? He's so precious!
@annabenanna What a creepy/sweet homeless man lol. Glad he ended up sweet, instead of ending still creepy.
@Kaessi Eh, I personally would pass. I've heard not so good things about the carriers that rely on crotch support vs. more thigh/hip support for the bebe. I like what I've read/heard about Lillebaby and Ergo.
@sportiegrl1213 Right?! It's taken me forever to comb through this! (As shown by my million tagged responses lol.) And I've only gotten to page 8! I'm leaving work now lol. I'll finish catching up tomorrow I guess (I hope)!
Countdown to Baby H! Mommy to Elizabeth (6/18/09), preemie at 34 weeks
Speaking of maternity leave, I had a friend ask me "when are you going on maternity leave?" and it felt so awesome to say "next month! my last day is September 30 which falls on a Friday".
Insane. I guess this should go on the When Shit Got Real thread.
I wish I had a specific day I could count down to!
Me too. I just keep telling people that i'm working until I go into labor or the doctor tells me to stop
I worked until the day I went into labor with my first. I'm just glad my water broke at home and not in the office. My husband's co-worker had her baby in her office. No thanks!
On Christmas wrapping: I used to hate it because I was not great at wrapping but I had to seriously step up my game. I always had wrapping envy of my mom because she is like a master wrapper. Like really- She used to wrap presents at a department store when she was in high school haha
On belly and baby touching- no no no no. At Walmart the older people think that it's ok to talk and touch my dd. One time an older gentleman was like rubbing her leg before I could get myself between her and him. Why on earth would you think that's ok?!?
I love my dd and I have always babysat or been around kids but never have I had an overwhelming need to touch another persons baby. Like that 'omg a baby! I have to hold him/her' feeling. At my SIL's baby shower on Sunday, her cousin was there with her 7 (?) month old and someone asked me if I wanted to hold her and I was just like 'no thanks'. I don't need to hold my SIL's cousin's baby. Then everyone was taking pictures with my SIL and most of them are touching her belly. No thanks. And I didn't want her touching mine. It's such a personal thing, it weirds me out.
Just attended a 3 hour work dinner, which sounds horrible but the food was good and the marketing lady visiting was AWESOME. She was way more fun than most work people! I really wanted to drink all the wine with them though

OMG - I want it to be Christmas now!! I am a nut for Christmas and I have to agree with the wrappers - all the wrapping and all the coordination please!! I love a pretty tree with perfect presents underneath!!
@MRSCORKER@ignoscemihi I'm working right up til the end like you guys! Everyone keeps asking when I'm going out - I'm like, in, when the baby comes out?! Crossing my fingers I go into labor at home though and not at the office where I'm the only woman among 6-8 guys! Can only imagine their reactions!
@LMNOBaby I'm hoping I'll be able to work from home the last few weeks. I already WFH twice a week so it would be no big deal for me to arrange, maybe I'll get a doctors note, they can't say no to that!

random thought of of the day- does anyone know how long Target and Babies r us will keep a registry up? I was thinking today that it would be nice to use it as a Christmas wish list for the non-essentials that don't get bought that we won't need til he's a little older, but before 1st birthday.
My in laws came up today for the next 5 days and I took off from work so we could spend time together. These next 4 are going to be nonstop activities, which would be fun if I could actually sleep at night! I've been awake since 4 just catching up on all the bumping I'm missing. Tomorrow is going to be a looong day.
@mizzkbrat if I get to sneak away Friday for a mani/pedi before my shower on Sunday, I legit may copy your manicure!
@ashleyp625 - I think it's at least a year, if not longer. When we got married, Bed Bath and Beyond told us it would remain active for one year after our wedding date. And, my Target one is still active - 15 months after our wedding! So you should be good!
@mizzkbrat - love your nails! So jealous that your ring still fits. I really, really miss wearing mine.
@nlane0723 - one time we were having a large department meeting and someone remotely was logging in to the WebEx and somehow her webcam clicked on and projected her on the screen. She was luckily dressed, but in like ratty pajamas. She threw a paper over the webcam until she could figure out how to get it off. Our entire department is huge and all over the country, so no one in my office had any idea who she was. It was hilarious and horribly awkward and all I could think about was what I would have done if it was me because I'd probably have been wearing no bra in a tank top and underwear.

@MorganL925 I was so crushed when I couldn't wear my ring anymore. It's this dainty little twisted band that I love. So I got on Amazon to see if I could find something cheap to wear for the time being. This was the first one I saw. $10 and people go nuts over it. They're always shocked when I tell them it's fake. I can't wait till my ring fits again, but it's been fun wearing this too. Lol
Since I'm trying to pull off wearing the equivalent of workout pants to work today under the guise of "leggings", I thought I would at least try to dress them up with some cute wedges. Big mistake. My feet are mad at me at the moment! I have flip flops in my office but we're technically not supposed to wear them. But then again, we're not supposed to wear workout pants either...
@ashleyp625@amye102485 Thanks ladies! She was over the moon to start this morning, I'm a bit weepy over it, buy in a good way I hope she has a blast, she's been waiting for this for two whole years!
