Moms of Multiples 8/8

Hi ladies! So thankful to be on the downhill side of this pregnancy. I'm guessing we're all a little anxious to meet these babies and feel a bit more comfortable again!

4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?

Re: Moms of Multiples 8/8

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    31+6, di-di boys

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments
32 weeks tomorrow, which is the threshold for us being able to deliver at our hospital of choice! I have a growth scan this afternoon, which I'm looking forward to. It seems like so long since my last ultrasound!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Positive: My mil has been here helping with DS since Tuesday, and she got all excited about helping finish the nursery, so mattresses and crib sheets have finally been ordered.

Negative: My right ribs are seriously bruised, and I can barely sleep anymore. I know it is best for these boys to stay in a few more weeks, so I am of course happy to tough it out, but this is getting seriously painful.

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?
Mostly out, and very strange looking! Also my few stretch marks from DS1 have started extending, especially down super low. Boo.

  • @kmvisioli my right rib cage is bruised too. It's awful, I feel your pain... Literally.

@sjo_thetwins it's bad! Sorry you're dealing with it too. My baby B is always sticking out on that side. My chiropractor told me I need to start bracing those ribs when I cough/sneeze because they are at risk of cracking- yikes.
  • @kmvisioli ouch!! I am not sure how bad mine are but the front half is awful when they are getting kicked and it radiates to my back. Mine is baby B too and she stays nestled up in there.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    29+2 di di girls

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments
I want to make it to 32 weeks, and then 34, etc. our next appointment is this Thursday with our MFM. I have a feeling it will be leading to being admitted to the hospital but I'm really hoping not.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
We had family over yesterday for a small shower and then we were able to order everything else once we realized what we had left. I feel a little less stressed out knowing that we will have everything we need. Just really hoping to not be stuck in the hospital again, or until we deliver.

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?
    Mostly out!
  • @sjo_thetwins Good luck at your appointment, FX you're feeling is wrong and you don't have to go to the hospital afterwards!
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    31+1; boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments
MFM for growth scan this week.  Weekly NSTs & OB appts starting next week.  Hoping to make it to 36 weeks at least.  Praying for 37 1/2 so I can have the epidural and not be put under for C-section.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

Rave:  This super sexy belly cradle is working, but I haven't been able to wear it all day long yet.  It's worse than a bra, and so it is coming off before I even get home most days.  :)  The only way to hide the front straps is with a tank top worn over, and wearing the tank backwards.  Don't be jealous!  :)

Random:  The NB outfits for coming home came in last week, and they look huge to me.  So, I ordered some preemie outfits just in case.  I forget how differently sizing is from brand to brand.  For DS, Carter's is my go to.  The NB outfits for the twins I ordered from Children's Place, and I finally found Preemie outfits from Little Me to satisfy me.

Rant:  For some reason, I was thinking DS2 could just wear DS1's hand me downs, and for the most part he can, but for the seasonal/boutique/church clothes, he'll be the exact opposite season at the same time DS1 was.  So, at least for the first year, I'm going to have to shell out for those little things.  I had already ordered baby girl a Thanksgiving smocked dress, and so I went back to the preorder site and added a smocked longall for DS2 so they dress all twinsy.

Question:  Are you guys going to dress your twins alike?

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?

It's still in!!!  STM too!  I guess it's destined to be the world's smallest inny belly button though.   It gets tinier each week!  It's so odd looking.

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    31+3; twin boys

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments
We have a 32 week goal again based on lady Friday's appointment. NST on Thursday.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
We had our shower yesterday and we are so blessed with the amount of people that love these little guys so much.

I am terrified to deliver early. I've been up for an hour and I've had about 5 decent contractions. Not enough to go in, but enough for me to consider never leaving bed.

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?
It was out and now it's innish. That's why I thought I was loosing fluid, not the opposite of having too much!

  •  @sjo_thetwins and @kmvisioliI hear you on the bruised ribs!! :( I wish there was a miracle cream or something that would help with the pain.

@jessk104 I have some twinning outfits.  We have a wedding that we're going to bring them too at the end of October and I found a navy little dress for her and a coordinating navy/turquoise polo for him.  I think they're going to be pretty stinkin cute ;)

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    32+2 - boy/girl

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments

We have an ultrasound with the MFM tomorrow and then OB appointment for 32 weeks in the afternoon.  I'm excited to see how much they have grown in the last 4 weeks and also if baby girl (A) has decided to flip head down yet.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

@nlane0723 I also have had more contractions at night... just praying that they don't become consistent!

Rants- I feel like this last lag of pregnancy is going to last forever.  I want them to stay in as long as possible but OW everything is starting to hurt and feel stretched.  & I'm tired :)

Raves- making it to 32 weeks was our next short term goal - so I'm happy to report the babies are still cooking :)

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?

Out - & definitely weird looking :).  I also used to have it pierced so that just adds a dimension of weirdness to the belly button area.

  • I think if mine were b/g twins I would be way more interested in matching outfits, but with two boys I'm thinking occasionally coordinated is all I'm going for. I reserve the right to eat those words and buy all matching clothes once I see how adorable they are all twinned up ;) I will say my mil and mom have exclusively purchased matching sets, some even with a matching outfit for DS1, which is a bit much.
  • We have mainly all matching for our two girls. Once they get older and decide that they have opinions and styles of their own, that'll chance. But while they are babies and my littles, I'm totally dressing them together for the cuteness factor.
  • Well, update from our scan today: baby A is breech, with his butt super low in my pelvis and his head all the way up in my ribs. Baby B is vertex, head in my left hip, and measuring a little smaller than A. My OB is sending me for a better scan at the hospital on Friday morning to double check the size discrepancy, and we'll go from there.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    30w - MoDi Girls

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments

OB appointment on Wednesday just to check in. I feel like 30 weeks is a huge milestone

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

Rant & Rave - Not sure how much longer I am going to be able to work. I have a desk job but so uncomfortable all day and extremely exhausted by the time I get home. But there is no way I will sit on the couch all day if I wasn't working so I may as well suck it up and get paid while I can. How long are you ladies planning on working?

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out

Definitely out and to the left, but it is also a lot darker then my skin. Very weird

  • @cnb4hf I plan on working just as long as I can.   I don't want to have to come back to work any earlier in December than possible.   I am extremely uncomfortable,  but trying to keep in mind that I'd rather have the time after the babies are here.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    30w + 6d boy girl twins

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments

OB apt tomorrow, twice a week NST's start next week

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

Had an US last week and we asked a lot of questions about Baby A's umbilical cord. Its called a velamentous cord insertion and it looks like the cord is coming out of the side of the sack and tied back to the placenta by fibrous tissue. Doc is not concerned at all since the growth is right on track. That made us feel a lot better. Baby A is 3 lbs 7 oz and B is 3 lbs 12 oz.

Outside of that, I am trying to get my head around birth. It has given me an immense amount of anxiety worrying about having a panic attack, not being able to breathe, what will happen if I freak out in the middle of the surgery, etc. I just keep telling myself that women do this every.single.day. and I am no different.

    4. Question of the week: Belly button in or out?

Out but very stretched and almost flat. I also have a very sexy ring around my belly button that I am hoping eventually goes away.

  • @kmvisioli Funny thing happened 2 weeks ago when I went for an elective 3D scan.  The tech went to view where Baby B (girl) always is, and said "here's the boy."  I freaked out!!!  Baby girl has always been in that same spot every single time.  I said, "Find the girl!!!"  and they had both changed from head down to sideways, so both their heads were on the left and their bottoms on my right.

I would have been fine with both boys obviously, but everything I bought has been blue & pink.  It just freaked me out for that first minute.  Hubby thought it was so funny.

So long story short, I asked the OB about it, and he said oh yeah, there's plenty of room and time for them to change positions a few more times.  And I'm thinking, man I really don't think so.  There's no spare room in this belly.

  • @GoBucksOH  Glad to hear there growth is still going well and that they aren't concerned about the cord.  I hear you on trying not to freak out about the birth baby girl (A) is still breech as of today.  The MFM doesn't think there is enough room for her to flip so most likely a c section.  Which like you said - we are normal but surgery is still scary.

@jessk1014  Oh my gosh!! I think that would've sent me for a loop too if they had thought A was suddenly a boy-lol

Also- update MFM appt went well.  Both are measuring around 32 weeks 2-3 days.  She is 3 lbs 14 oz and he is 4 lbs 1 oz.  the dr said they could even be bigger but because they are so squished it was hard to get super accurate measurements.  He told me to be ready for the long haul -which is fantastic but I just can't imagine the stomach stretching that is in my future...

  • So had my OB appointment this morning and told her I have been having some Braxton hicks and cramping and she decided to check my cervix. Well I am 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated, she didn't seem too concerned since this is my 2nd pregnancy and obviously they are twins and both babies have been head down pretty much the entire pregnancy. Just need to be more aware of the cramps/braxton hicks and go to L&D if they become regular at all. But curious if anyone else is experiencing any dilation/effacement yet?
  • I was at a 1 and 30% effaced at 26 weeks. I haven't been checked since.

  • cnb4hf   My OB told me yesterday they wouldn't starting checking dilation/effacement until 34 or 35 weeks unless I notice a change or my contractions become consistent.
