  • How far along are you?   4wks and 2 days

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same?  I'm dealing with the same symptoms as last time, just WAY earlier!  Last time I did not start with morning sickness until week 6, this time I started the day after my BFP!

Weekend updates?  We had a slow weekend.  DH and DD were sick with a cold and I was feeling crummy.  Still have not told our family.  It's so hard to keep it to quiet, I'm usually very open with my family!  Hoping to tell then in a couple of weeks.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?  I didn't really take maternity pictures with DH and didn't take any professional ones, just weekly pictures of the belly.  I'm really hoping to get professional pictures with DH and DD this time, especially since this will more than likely be our last baby!

  • How far along are you? Almost 5 weeks.  Seems forever already though.  Crafty alcoholic beverages with some sort of citrus, liqueur, Hendricks gin, and gingerale, I miss you!

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? @Pinkpeonies I second what you said!  Symptoms are earlier.  I am moodier.  One thing that's the same is that I will going through another school year pregnant and leaving toward the end, that's always hard!

Weekend updates? My DH was out of town this weekend.  I was out of town the weekend before.  We are looking forward to just hanging around the house with R and having some family time.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?  Not eat a milkshake from chick fil a every other day.  I'm not normally an ice cream person, but gah - they were so good when I was pregnant.  Luckily, I seem to be craving more savory foods.  Also, exercise more.  Seriously, I need to go do that now!

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same?

I'm already in a better place with this pregnancy. It took me a very long time to connect. I'm very much looking forward to enjoying it this time around. As far as being the same, I'm the bloat queen this go round too. Back into maternity clothes and loving it.

    Weekend updates?

Told my parents this weekend and it went as badly as expected. DH was ticked and ready to write them off but honestly, I expected it and am already moving on.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?

@Breesy14 I had to have a McDonald's hot fudge sundae every day of first trimester last time. This time I'm going to try and focus on good protein and being a little more active.

BabyFruit Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @breesy14 I ate ice cream practically every day during my last trimester!  I craved mint and chip!  I hardly ever eat ice cream now.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? With my first, my boobs ACHED for weeks, with my second, no pain at all.  This time, it's just my nipples that are sore.

How is this pregnancy the same?  I found out literally AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, which makes it a very long pregnancy.

Weekend updates? Sweet Jesus, my husband started playing Pokemon Go. At least we'll be going on lots of family walks!

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?  I'd like to make it a goal to workout 3x's a week.  I gained 70 lbs during my first pregnancy because it was unplanned and I ate my way through it.  My second was planned, I was in school and took a water aerobics class.  I gained way less and felt better overall.  So, now I'm hoping to keep up the workouts!

  • I'm 5w6d (though expect to be a bit behind that at first appt)

I'm actually nervous because I have zero symptoms yet and by this time last pregnancy I was totally nauseous and getting worse by the day.  FX this is just later/easier and not a sign of things going south!

w/e update:  everyone was sick with a cold so despite no pregnancy symptoms I stil felt like crap!  I hope I didn't waste my last weekend of no symptoms.

im hoping to let this pregnancy not get in the way of work as much as it did last time.  I'm close to a promotion and want to see that through before I really get impacted by new baby.  Would be nice to go on Mat leave with that wrapped up rather than delayed, but so much is out of my control we'll have to see!
  • How far along are you? 5 weeks 3 days

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? No heartburn is the biggest difference! I had heartburn from 4 days after conception onwards with DS. So I'm loving the lack of heartburn. But the nausea has also started way earlier this time around and I'm feeling way more exhausted this time and my boobs are hurting a bit. So far there really haven't been any similarities...

Weekend updates? We had a super busy weekend, and DS didn't nap at all on Saturday. Which made for a bit of a crazy day. That was his first time skipping both of his naps (not intentional, boy did we try). And we had a huge family get together (my grandma's 90th) and it took a lot of effort not to tell people we are pregnant.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? Definitely not gain as much weight. I gained about 70lbs with DS. I was so nauseous throughout (vomiting daily from weeks 8-24) and the only thing that made me feel better was carbs. I am trying to go on daily walks (about 3 miles) and eating as healthy as I can when I feel up to it. It's hard now that the nausea/vomiting has already started.

@Breesy14 I totally feel you on the refreshing cocktails...I miss them too!  And oh my god what is it about those Chick-Fil-A milkshakes?!? So good.

@runningpenguin I'm so sorry about your parents.  That really sucks when family can't just act appropriately and be happy for you.  Hugs.

How far along are you?  6 weeks 1 day

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? Well, last time the nausea started right at 6 weeks, but this time none yet.  All the other common symptoms are the same.  Except that my hormones seem more out of whack earlier...like I just want to punch my DH in the face and jump him simultaneously.

Weekend updates?  Just some family time and errands.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?  I'm with you @Pinkpeonies .... more pictures!  I'm also hoping to just enjoy the whole pregnancy more this time instead of worrying so much.

  • How far along are you? 4 weeks, 2 days

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? With DD I still didn't know I was pregnant at this point, so I can't really answer that. With my loss last month it was similar to this.

Weekend updates? Mostly sat at home and watched the Olympics. I had a really busy couple of weeks, so that felt good. Also I was grumpy and tired. So, that too.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? Just enjoy it more. DD was not planned and it took the first half of the pregnant to finally feel ok with the whole thing. It was sort of embarrassing and I felt some shame at having a baby before we were ready. I sort of hated being pregnant, but I do wonder if some of it was just because of that. So, I am excited to just be happy about this pregnancy from the start.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? I have the same bloating and exhaustion but it seems like I've had more cramping this time. No nausea yet though. :) I found out earlier this time so it may be too soon to tell.

Weekend updates? It was the OH sales tax holiday so I shopped by myself all morning Sunday and it was glorious. Then I came home and took an afternoon nap with my little guy.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? I had a great pregnancy the first time so I am hoping it goes the same. I may not announce it to the public until a little later this time. I would love to try to be team green but I don't think I have the will power!

Same symptoms, just earlier and more annoying because I have two little girls that require more energy than I have!

    Weekend updates?

Tons of swimming, shopping, and Olympics!

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?

Exercise and make wiser eating choices. Last pregnancy I ate whatever I wanted and gained 50lbs (15 lbs more than my first). Sadly I JUST lost most of that weight right before my BFP. This time I don't plan to make that mistake and I already love going on morning walks at least 5 mornings a week.

How far along are you? 4w5d

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? I have 0 symptoms. With DS, my boobs were so ridiculously sore and that was what prompted me to POAS and find out that I was pregnant. This time, I've got nothing (though I really shouldn't complain, because I was MISERABLE with DS...MS all the way through 6 months, horrible sciatic pain, etc.), and it's making me a little nervous since my first bloods were on the low end of normal and I'm waiting to get the results of my second bloods to see if HCG is doubling as it should. I've had a bad feeling that this pregnancy won't stick, and I really, really hope I'm wrong.

Weekend updates? Survived FOUR separate events with family with no one noticing that I wasn't drinking. BOOM.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? Staying fit. I had a lot of bleeding first tri last time, so I was on pelvic rest and wasn't allowed to run (I had just finished my first marathon right before I got KU), so I just became kind of a slob. I hadn't gotten the weight from DS off before getting KU again, so I really don't want it to all compound and just be horrible to get off in the end.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? I feel more bloated and think I had some hints of queasiness today, which I didn't with my first.

Weekend updates? No news is good news

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? Stay more active

  • How far along are you? 5 weeks

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? It's different because I don't have that overwhelming excitement that came with my first pregnancy. I don't feel the need to shout out our news to the world.  It's similar because it happened so quickly

Weekend updates? Hubby was gone all weekend golfing. I slept terribly bc I was scared being in the house without him

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? Be more active and not gain 50+ lbs.

  • Any c-section mamas here?  For the last couple of days my incision has been bothering me.  It's a very low incision and it typically does not bother me.  Anyone experiencing this?
    EDD 4/15/17
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @Pinkpeonies my c section scar always bothers me, so nothing I can equate to pregnancy. I don't think the uterus is growing enough to do much, but I hang out in a lot of VBAC groups and it seems to be really common and harmless to have scar discomfort during pregnancy. You might have some adhesions that are beginning to shift and move maybe?

  • How far along are you? 6 weeks 3 days

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? Well my first 2 pregnancies were complete opposites from each other.  First had horrible MS...almost none with second.  This one is worse than the first one I think so far.  I am queasy all the time and my stomach feels horrible after I eat...I don't remember that with either of the others.  Tiredness and sore books seems about the same.  Moodiness might be a little more this time.

Weekend updates?  I decided I wanted to tell my family during our reunion this weekend.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?  Well I would love to say that I won't develop pre-eclampsia this time around...or that I might finally get my VBAC...but since both of those are highly unlikely I will go with not gaining a bunch of weight this time.  First one gained about 70...second one about 40...so hopeful to keep this one under that!

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? Honestly, I've forgotten when my nausea started with DD, but it was pretty mild and only lasted a few weeks. Maybe 6-9? I don't have an awful lot in the way of symptoms now, just tired and super sore nips when DD latches on to nurse. Oh, and major bloating. And some RLP/lightning crotch, which is definitely much earlier than last time.

Weekend updates? We took it easy for the most part, which was nice. It was my birthday on Sunday, so we went out for dinner. Soooo goooood.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? I was still working when pregnant with DD and walking a lot because of it, so this time I'm really going to need to make an actual effort to get some exercise in and keep my weight gain reasonable. I only gained 20 lbs then - hoping I can keep it the same this go round!

  • @bwo thanks. It was completely expected. When I told them about DS, they were super disappointed. My mom's response was "well you can't take it back now, can you?". They love him now but I'm pretty sure there is going to be some favoritism which will not sit well with DH or me.

  • @runningpenguin When we told my parents my mom frowned and then started crying (not in a good way). My dad was just all stoic and unmoving. I think the first words were something along the lines of, "oh, no. I'm sorry." DH's parents just immediately started asking me about health insurance, because I didn't really have any. So, I totally get it. It was honestly I think the worst day of my life, maybe. It is up there at least. This time I expect some disappointment again, but not as bad.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? I have to agree, I feel like the symptoms have hit earlier than before, but like @runningpenguin said, I definitely feel more connected this time. It took me a long time to get excited last time, so I'm thankful that I have a much more positive outlook this time. Perhaps part of that is a product of feeling criticized by a parent? I'm still nervous to tell my mom because she has a way about making everything about herself. I've dealt with it long enough, I'm more immune to it, but I still dread having to do it.

Weekend updates? I felt like poo this past weekend. I think I was trying to do too much and with the heat, I was wiped out.

  • How far along are you?  6 weeks today

How is this pregnancy the same/different from first?   I am feeling symptoms way earlier with this one. In fact that's what prompted me to take the test - I just felt weird and my boobs really hurt which rarely happens with PMS. Basically since my BFP I've had some kind of symptoms every day - some days not as bad as others. With my first I really didn't start feeling "icky" til about 8 weeks (just tired) and it only lasted til like 10/11 weeks then the rest of the pregnancy was pretty "easy." I am praying that with this one I just feel this way at the beginning and the rest of the pregnancy is as easy as the first cause I really loved being pregnant with my son.

Weekend update?  Helped my sister do some wedding errands and work on her invites on Saturday and then on Sunday evening my hubby got home from being gone almost a week. I was never so happy to see him get back and have his help with daily life again!  :)

GTKY: What is one thing you are hoping to do differently this pregnancy?  I hope to "exercise" a little more with this one - at least take walks more often once the weather cools down. Also I didn't take any formal maternity pics (just bump ones every few weeks) the first time so I hope to actually do some of those this time and include my DS. Although, sometimes when I think about taking them I then feel guilty like "if I didn't take them with my son is that terrible to take them with #2, will my son be mad about that some day?" Gotta love pregnancy hormones and overthinking!

  • How far along are you? I'm 6w2d (wohoo look at my ticker that finally posted :) )

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same?

So far both pregnancies are pretty similar. I have lower back pain and cramping just like last time. Although, first time around was a lot more intense and I had some spotting. I'm extremely tired and want to say more than first time around, but that's simply because now I can't just come home and nap until bedtime, I have to tend to my daughter. Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good as I did with my DD.

The biggest difference so far is so welcoming!!! With my daughter I had a stuffy/runny/clogged up nose THE ENTIRE PREGNANCY! I mean literally basically from implantation day until delivery. I was gagging all the time and was going through at least one big pack of Kleenex a day. It was absolutely awful. I am so extremely happy I don't have that this time.

    Weekend updates?

I had mentioned in another post that we celebrated my H's bday over the weekend and my friend put me in an uncomfortable situation by asking if we had anything to share since I was ordering n/a beer... that sucked. Another big thing we did was buy a new backpack for our daughter who is starting kindergarten in a month :)

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy?

Actually I'm trying to do what I did with my first pregnancy. I was very active and did prenatal yoga and I walked a lot. The circumstances are a lot different this time around so I'm hoping to find ways to stay active. So far, not doing too well. I'm also not watching what I'm eating like I did first time around :/

One thing I'll try to do differently is stress less about my job and take care of myself. My old boss drove me nuts until the doc said "you are done, I'm not letting you go back to work anymore". Good thing is that I'm the boss now and the president of the company is very understanding and supportive of families so I know he won't be any trouble once I announce it at work. :)

  • @kmleon83 - I was also doing WW prior to getting my BFP. Although I use the term "doing WW" very lightly haha. I was actively doing it before getting pregnant with DS though. Morning sickness/food aversions (to all fruits and veggies) really impacted my diet. I'm hoping to do the same as you though in walking daily (so far I've been successful going for 3 miles with DS every day). And I'm also going to do the Bikini Body Mommy 6 week challenge starting Monday.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? It's been running pretty identical to my last one - no real symptoms other than the food aversion is beginning.  Trying to force myself to get decent meals in last time was a real chore - totally hoping this kid will go easier on me!

Weekend updates? We are celebrating our little boy's 2nd birthday this weekend.  Can't wait to see his little face light up on the presents we got him.  Also, can't wait for this weekend to be over - going to be hard to be with all of our family and not have any be suspicious that I'm not drinking.  This is the only major event we will have with everyone the first few weeks so I just keep telling myself surely I can pull this off.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? So far it feels different in that everything seems to be happening earlier. I've already started with nausea, but with DD I had no morning sickness and with DS I started throwing up at 6w. My boobs are also tingling all the time. With my other kids, my boobs never bothered me. How is this pregnancy the same? Like DS, I think morning sickness is going to be a thing. I also cannot remember anything! My brain is useless.

Weekend updates? I can barely remember the weekend by now! Last Saturday I got my BFP! This is my last week before I go back to work (I teach), so I am trying to enjoy it.

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? I really want to enjoy it. It's not that I didn't enjoy my last pregnancy, but I think it's easy to be distracted when you have kids running around. I want to savor every part of this one, as this is going to be our last baby.

    EDD: 4/15/17

  • How far along are you? Almost 5 weeks I think. I ovulated late so according to my LMP I'm 6 weeks 3 days, but I didn't get a positive until 4 days ago and my HCG level was 117 so I'm in the 4-5 week range.

How is this pregnancy different from your first/others? How is this pregnancy the same? It is the same as far as pregnancy symptoms go except I feel like I have mild cramps everyday this time around.

Weekend updates? We have told most of our family and our close friends. I can't help it!

GTKY: What is one thing you're hoping do differently this pregnancy? Enjoy it and not rush it. This will be my last pregnancy. I had my daughter at 35 weeks so I'm hoping to make it to term. No NICU stay this time

  • How far along are you? 5+3

how is preg same/different? Last time my boobs hurt from the beginning. Only reason I even took a test is bc I've been waking up several times a night to go to bathroom already!

gtky: I'm hoping I will continue eating healthy but exercise more than I did last time. My dd is about to turn 1 so I know she will be keeping me busy!
