For those of you who are not FTM's (or are and were diagnosed with GD), did you have any symptoms? Did what you eat (or not eat) make you feel different? My OB suspects GD but I can't know until 28th week testing (5 weeks from now), and when you ask Dr. Google, it just says extreme thirst... Is it an invisible condition, or are there signs it's happening?

Re: Gestational Diabetes - Symptoms?
I can tell you from visiting the GD clinic that there can actually be negative effects if wait too long for testing and getting it under control. GD is caused by the placenta producing hormones that cause the pancreas to not work as normal. If you have unmanaged sugars, you can actually cause the baby to pack on weight faster than usual, and have a larger baby to deliver. Which could cause delivery complications. Good news is that if you do have it, most of the time the GD goes away after you deliver the placenta, and that GD is not a determinant of the baby having diabetes at all. (DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a medical professional, this is just what I was told at my GD clinic. Your medical team may have a different opinion on the subject.) The diet my clinic gave me is actually an insane amount of food, and is not difficult to manage just hard to eat as much as they want me to. I'm lucky that I'm still just monitoring my sugars, but there is always the potential that I will have to go to having insulin as well.
