  • I haven't participated in this thread for a while, but I should.
How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
Doing okay! Now that the fatigue and MS is better, I'm better able to play with her and keep her busy during the afternoons when we're together.

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?
Oh goodness no clue. My mom will probably volunteer to come take DD duty while we're dealing with all that. I should talk to her about it.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
DD just turned 20 months, and I am amazed at all these words she's picking up. It's getting crazy.

    Anything you want to add/share?
I don't know about anyone else, but it's hard for me to not imagine a carbon copy of DD coming out in December. It's really weird to me to think that DD2 will look different and act differently. SO weird.

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?
I think we'll probably be stricter on a bedtime for baby. DD1 was a really good sleeper, so we kind of let her make her own schedule. But sometimes she won't fall asleep until 9:30, which limits the time DH and I have together. We'll be a little more structured this next go around, though we hope DD2 is a good sleeper too.

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
Daddy has been picking up the slack for mom a lot lately, but I don't see that as a bad thing. My husband is VERY involved with our son, but they have been dong a lot more solo things lately instead of us as a family. I think this will help prepare him for when the baby is here and I'm nursing 24/7. We still get tons of alone time as well so I think it's all good!

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?
My parents will be in town to watch him. We are going to have him come visit as soon as we can!

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Who taught my son to say "No!" "Now!" and "Stop it!". I'm going to blame it on the babysitter and not me and DH talking to the dog...

    Anything you want to add/share?
    Nope!

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?
I will pack 50% less to take to the hospital, I will actually let people help me clean/do dishes/cook when they come to help instead of being martyr and I will take 12 weeks of maternity leave instead of 8!
  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
Ok. First I had stomach bug for 24 hours, then DH got it way more extreme for 5 days... what? But we have friends in town with a toddler and the play time together was adorable
What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?
Great question... I want to hear what others are working out. We're hoping to get help from my neighbors when we leave for the hospital and then have my mom come out or something.
    Rants/Raves/Questions:
My son is obsessed with getting into the things we tell him he can't... I don't want it to become a pointless push and pull... does this stage wear off? Of do I just have a mischievous baby?
    Anything you want to add/share?
    nerp
Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?
Oh man. I don't know. I don't see myself having the energy to make freezer meals this time. And I'll give myself more time off before getting back into a fitness routine. I know things will go differently this time because I'm just spread more thin but I guess I actually hope to do most things similar.

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week? Good! Lots of playing and running errands to stay busyy. We made a house for him out of a giant box and he's obsessed. It's also been a rocket ship and a boat.

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery? Hopefully I call my mom wiith enough time because she'll be coming down to watch him, she lives 2.5 hours away, while Dh and I deliver. We don't want to shake up ds's life too much, so dh will go home with him at night to try and maintain normalcy for his little self.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Still no pooping on the potty. Damnit, child, but we did only have to change 1 diaper yesterday- the poopy one.

Anything you want to add/share? Nope. I just really love this age.

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?
Not holding the baby for every nap. It was easy to do with ds since it was just us, but I want to get this baby used to sleeping alone and with noise and stuff going on around in hopes that they are a better sleeper for longer periods of time.

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
Not too shabby. DD turned two on Wednesday and it was a busy week, which always helps my sanity!

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?
Hmm we have a neighbor that we will call if we have to leave in the middle of the night. Then there will be some sort of transition from neighbor lady to some grandparents I'm sure!

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
DD is such a two year old. I'll let you form your own opinions of this.
Rave: I think I'm maybe finally done with diclegis! I'm ready to not feel so sleepy.

    Anything you want to add/share?
My anatomy scan is a week from today! Caaaan't waaaaait

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?
Buy less things for baby, pack differently for the hospital, rely more on family after he/she is born!

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
Pretty well. My guy starts preschool next week and I won't lie, I'm pretty excited that I'll have 3 hours to myself.

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?
We're doing a home birth this go round, so he'll be hanging out. That's as far as I've gotten with planning. I'm hoping my mom will be able to be here so they can hang out if/when it gets too intense. If not, my brother in law lives with us currently; I'll pay to put him and little dude up in the hotel down the street while I'm in late labor/delivering.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
How are others prepping your LO for the new babe? Mine is almost 3 so I feel like he "gets" it pretty well, especially since so many of his friends also have baby siblings, and we're involving him in a lot of baby things, but I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing.

    Anything you want to add/share?

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?

Let my husband do his dad thing without me hovering, and ask for help when I need it!

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?
Doing good!! Having fun and enjoying the summer  We enrolled him in Tues/Thurs half day preschool to start later this month and he and we are so excited!!

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?
Ugh, still trying to hammer this out for sure. Thinking of having my mom and his dad help out while we are in the hospital which would require one or both of them staying at our house. But, which I will elaborate on in the bonus question, one of the things that I don't want this time around is people staying at our house once we come home so we're trying to figure out how to communicate this without hurting feelings

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?
I'm going to try to accept more help with cooking and cleaning as well as try to take more naps when the baby, and hopefully the toddler, are napping. Mostly, though DH and I have decided that my mom will not be staying in our house when we come home from the hospital and that is going to be an interesting conversation to say the least. She's a great person but it was a disaster last time. She was expecting it to go one way and we handled having a newborn completely differently and somehow the whole thing became about her. We are not even going to risk going there this time having a 2 year old at home that we are all wanting to have a very smooth transition to meeting his new sibling. My parents live in North Carolina and I am in Texas so it is not like there are a plethora of places to stay other than our house. I feel slightly guilty saying that she's going to need to stay in a hotel but we know beyond a shadow of a doubt this is what is going to be best for our nuclear family so, I'm just going to have to rip it off like a Band-Aid soon

  • How've you been doing balancing a toddler(s) and your pregnancy this past week?

pretty good. This week was rather uneventful because my husband had the car and was working a lot of late nights, but we managed to get out for a play date one day and for some swimming at my sister's house.

What are your plans for your toddler when you are in the hospital for this delivery?

Family. Thankfully with the RCS we can plan this pretty well... We are prepping DD for sleepovers at my sister's house starting in a couple of weeks. She's never spent the night anywhere without us, so this is a big deal (for me anyway!). My sister has 4 kids and my DD LOVES them, so I know she will do well.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:

not that I can think of...
Oh! I'll rave about how great she's getting at singing the alphabet and correctly identifying letters! It's so exciting to watch her little mind absorbing this stuff and getting it.

    Anything you want to add/share?

    Nope

Bonus Question: What's one thing you will do differently this go around (can be during pregnancy/in the hospital or once home)?

i will fight harder to BF. There was so muh trauma involved with DD's delivery that by the time we got home I just needed to decompress and focusing on BFing wasn't a priority. I pumped a bit for 3 months, and I have no problems pumping again if I have to, but I want to work harder at boosting my supply and getting this baby to latch properly.
