Breast pumps

Hi ladies,
I know many of you have already ordered your breast pumps. However, I just received a card at my OB appointment yesterday that will basically do all the work for you when ordering. They will contact your insurance and your doctor and then send you your pump. They only give you an option of three Spectra S2, Medela PISA or Ameda Purely Yours. I'm not sure if this will work for you Canadian Moms but maybe check it out just in case.
To register online go to www.pumpingessentials.com or you can call 866-688-4203.

I thought the registration process was so much easier than having to do it directly with my insurance that I wanted to share.

Just to chime in the Target breast pump program was also amazing. I filled out one form online, they called me to get any other info they needed, they got the prescription from my doctor and the day after I actually put my order in the pump was ready for pick up. I never had to deal with my insurance or anything, easiest thing so far this pregnancy!

  • There are other companies that do this too, I used edgepark last time and Byram this time.  Both times different companies have offered a different selection of pumps, so i checked several to see who had the pump I wanted (spectra s2).

  • I already checked with my insurance provider and I don't get it covered :( But I did find an EUC Medela PISA that had barely been used for a month, extra parts and all for $100 :)

We have a company here called milk moms that I got mine through. I went with what my insurance offered since I didn't want to pay anything on something I might not get to use. I ended up with an even flo which happens to be picked most often by people
  • I went through Aeroflow through an ad I saw on TB. Basically the same deal. I love how easy these places make it. One less thing for us to worry about :)

Not sure if it was the company or my insurance but I had like 8 options to pick from and went with Spectra S2
  • I ordered the Ameda purley yours a few weeks ago. It will be here 10 days before my c section date. I would have preferred a medela but they don't cover those in full. Since I responded well with pumps last time I'm not worried about settling.
I also bought a haakaa pump off Amazon for on the go and you can just suction it to your vacant boob to catch let down. I'm excited about that more than anything.

  • Don't be intimidated by ordering a breast pump. You do not need a special service. You just call (or look up online) what is covered. They tell you what store to go to. Last time I ordered online and instead of putting in credit card info you put in your health insurance card info and it appeared at my door. It was one 2 minute phone call more challenging than ordering anything else online.

What! I've never heard of this thing... I wanted a Milkies Milk Saver SO bad with my last baby but never pulled the trigger... received one as a hand-me-down for this pregnancy so I was excited about that (I lost so much milk to those damn pads in the first months of nursing to opposite boob let-down!) but this looks amazing. hmmm thanks for pointing it out!

I submitted an order through Byram. I am thinking I am going to have to follow up with my OB on getting the script for the pump because i haven't heard anything back yet. Byram was trying to give me the run around last week based on some weird state law but I think they gave me wrong info.
  • Also, if you've set aside money in your FSA / MRA account, breast pump and lactation supplies are eligible purchases!!

Quoted response from our FSA/MRA management company:
"Breast milk storage bottles or bags reimbursement is eligible
with a flexible spending account (FSA). Breast pump bustier
reimbursement is also eligible with a flexible spending account (FSA).
Please be sure these items state that they are for the purpose of
breastfeeding when you submit your claims. Spare/replacement parts of
the breast pump are also eligible."
