episiotomy infection

Hi ladies...
I am wondering if anyone experienced infected episiotomy stitches and what the doctor advised. I had a bad infection after delivering a d just went to a walk in...it was strange there was just nurses who Skype a doctor. He thought due to my symptoms that I had mastitis so he gave me two weeks of amoxicillan. I noticed that my extremely painful episiotomy stitches stopped hurting after these drugs as well..so thought they might have actually been the culprit. That was about a month ago...now I went to my ob  follow up early due to sadly choosing to look "down there" and seeing a small hole that didn't close up and some slight discharge on the toilet paper when wiping the area. The doctor said it was slightly infected but did not prescribe antibiotics.  I am a little nervous considering the sketchy region the infection is in. He just advised sitz baths and polyaporin "if I want". Would you guys get a second opinion or just hope it clears itself up? Hope everyone is having fun with their babe's!

  • If it were my ladybits, I would get a second opinion. That said, I have chronic UTIs so I take anything happening down there that is out of the norm seriously.

  • I would get a second opinion! I had a uterus infection and wasn't prescribed enough antibiotics...two weeks later I was back in the hospital septic on IV antibiotics. Infections are nothing to mess with!
