Weekly Randoms - 08/01

Re: Weekly Randoms - 08/01

  • I'm getting my haircut on Thursday and I don't know what to do with it. My face is pretty oval shaped, but is narrower at my chin. I have straight, super thick blond hair that currently goes a little past my shoulders and is parted on the side. I'm toying with the idea of side bangs like this/this or this. But I don't know if I want the maintenance. It's harder to put your hair up when you have bangs like that, but I'm sick of the same cut I have.

  • Just trying to get through this work day. I can't really focus much and it's so extremely busy. I'd much rather be home watching TV

  • I can't stop eating hummus today.

@yaeger07 my hair is similar in texture to yours and I love having side bangs. Bobby pins will become your new BFF. :)

  • My house is overrun by crickets lately. We find dozens each night. I just opened my fridge to do more quality midnight snacking and something ran across the floor...this one was a tiny baby gecko! Get munching, geckos, you're outnumbered.
  • @yaeger07 As somebody with side bangs for a decade (only grew them out last year), it really isn't so bad to pull your hair up!  You can either leave the bangs down for a kind of cutesy look or just pin them back with bobbies (either flat or with a bit of a twist or bump).

I agree with @Magheeta, go for it!  Worst case scenario, hair grows back :)

  • I say go for it, @yaeger07! Sounds like it would suit you.

Um that sounds terrifying @lovelongdog06! Where do you live?!

My husband and I are dropping the kid off at daycare and taking the day off for his birthday. The kid sprouted a little fever last night, so fingers crossed he's ok. We need a little time together!

  • Oh my gosh. My 1 year old decided to randomly cry for over an hour last night and I'm so exhausted because he would NOT sleep and then I found my bagels moldy this morning so I don't have breakfast and we have friends coming over tonight at 730 so we'll probably be up til at least 11 and I already just want to curl in a ball and sob.   :'(:'(:'(

  • @mamabear2015 ugh DS has done the same waking up every hour shiz the past two nights and I am over it.

I'm trying to remember all the things I learned last time I was pregnant but I'm pretty much stuck on drink lots of water and don't eat hot dogs and mac and cheese for every meal. Winning.

  • @clickclackmoo I live in Phoenix! As long as I'm not seeing scorpions, I'm good. ;)
  • @yaeger07 I was thinking of getting side bangs too.  I thought this might be an ideal time since my hair grows so much faster and is more manageable during pregnancy (thank you prenatals).  Also, I just wish I looked like Emma Stone...

@lovelongdog06 I live on an acre in a suburb and we are surrounded by trees.  Hello frogs, toads, crickets, geckos, lizards, and (ew) roaches!  It's like Nat Geo around my house. I tell myself it's like camping - for life.  :|

Partner & I played hookie yesterday so he could make a finance appointment and I could have my midwife appt.  Part of the day we went to a botanical garden!  The coolest part was when we asked an employee what a particular succulent was called and he was like, "Oh this one?  Do you grow 'em? Here!" and he just reached over and yanked a sprig off.  It's super tiny, so I've got him in a shot glass of water right now - gonna drop some soil in before I leave for the day.

  • Just had my first pregnancy tears (the March board has a thread called "why my pregnant self is crying"). I'm watching The Bucket List (which I've seen before) and toward the end I just started sobbing hysterically. Cried so hard I had to put my dinner down and calm myself before I could finish eating.
