Lamital and Trazadone. Anyone else taking?

Im currently taking both Lamictal and Trazadone as my bipolar medication. I've spent countless hours googling and reading up on them during pregnancy. I knew prior to being ku I was going to stay on them because if I have an episode it could be really really bad if I went off. But now that I'm actually pregnant I'm having second thoughts. My OB said we can discuss at my appt on August 24 but I'll already be 8w. My psychiatrist said the choice is mine because research is so back and forth. I went off everything for my first pregnancy and was great until I stopped bfing. Then I had a HORRIBLE crash that took nearly a year to recover from. So yes I definitely need it after but I'd most likely be fine during the pg. UGH!!!

Anyone else in this boat?

    Mama5181 I actually decided against taking any anxiety or depression medication while TTC because of this same reason. Ultimately, it is up to you. There are potential adverse side effects but they rarely outweigh the potential concerns if the mother has an episode. Most say that if you can't function without it, it's better to continue taking it. If you feel comfortable, you could choose not to take the medication while pregnant and resume shortly after. Discuss it with your doctor and see if there are any other safer alternatives as well.

    @Neikoda I really wanted to go off but my support circle disagrees. I guess I'll just stick with a lower dose.

    I was taking trazadone for sleeping when I got KU with my first. I actually found my pharmacist to be a really good source of information. Obviously she can't prescribe, but she could offer some suggestions on what you're currently taking.

    @leslieknope how long had you been on it prior if you don't mind me asking?

    8 or so months before I found out I was pg. Not every night, more so on an as-needed basis. I had zero issues stopping, but the pharmacist did say that some people have a really rough time. Were you able to talk to your dr? Even though your appt isn't for awhile, you should be able to call and ask.
