How are those rings fitting nowadays?

I've noticed at night, when I go to put lotion on, it's been a battle sometimes taking off my rings. How are you ladies coping?

Re: How are those rings fitting nowadays?

  • Mine have been off for about a week. They were fine, and then one day they were a bit snug. I decided to just go ahead & take them off. Sad times.

  • I can't generally get them off in the morning but after I'm up for an hour or two they're fine. I've actually been checking this frequently because I don't want them to get stuck!

I'd actually been meaning to resize my rings and make them smaller for awhile, then got pregnant and thought "I'll just leave it cause they might get a bit tighter". So they are pretty much normal rings now, whereas before pregnancy I would risk losing them in the shower because they'd slide so easily. I'm pretty happy with it!

  • Going on two weeks without mine. I can slide them on barely but am too afraid that I will have to have them cut off
  • I haven't worn mine since July. I was wearing them on a chain around my neck but stopped doing that when DD pulled my necklace off when we were playing.
  • They're snug after walks because my hands swell up pretty bad during them. They fit fine the rest of the time. I had to take my rings off at 5-6 months with my first... then get them resized after because they still wouldn't go on 3 months after she was born. So I'm happy with how it's going this time.

  • This poll is so well timed!! I'm struggling with them these days. I didn't wear my ring yesterday but managed to get it on this morning and am hoping it doesn't get stuck!

I forget who mentioned that someone they know had to get their rings cut off during an emergency c-section and that worries me. I may have to retire it until after birth if things don't improve.

  • I just took mine off less than a week ago. They would get tight/loose throughout the day, then I had a day where it was a bit uncomfortable. As soon as my hands went down enough for the ring to slide off I decided it was time. I'm now wearing my high school class ring on my ring finger and it's a bit loose (I weighed as much as I do now when I was a junior in high school... except the added weight was not in my belly, ha!)

  • Mine are uncomfortable in the mornings, so I just choose not to wear them until the baby is here.

Ha! Ok. Maybe I should vote that one as my rings come on and off ok when I am not hot. But when I am hot (like at work with no AC) my rings feel a little uncomfortable. Does that make me a special snowflake? LOL

  • Mine has been off for a few weeks now...sometimes it fits, but most of the time it's tight, so I just don't want to chance it. On the entertaining side, I have been running our church's chastity retreats for middle schoolers these past few weeks about sex, marriage, etc (not judging anyone on this board...just sharing for the sake of how funny it is)...and I'm up there giving all these presentations as an OBVIOUSLY very pregnant lady without any rings on.

That's how I am, too!  I stopped wearing my rings weeks ago...and not because they don't actually fit but because my swelling ebbs and flows throughout the day depending on activity/heat/etc.  I never got to the point where I couldn't get them off but when I was swollen, they were uncomfortable.  And then once you're at work (or elsewhere) and want them off, where do you safely put them?  So I just started leaving them at home.  Easy enough.

  • Prior to this pregnancy, I was up nearly 30 pounds from when my rings were last re-sized. They were rather snug but not uncomfortable. By the end of 1st tri, they were getting uncomfortable and difficult to remove. I made the decision then to stop wearing them. I have been wearing and ugly cheap ring from Kohl's ever since. It is getting quite discolored and I am ready to go back to my real rings.

  • My rings are a little loose to begin with but lucky to not have swelling. That changed towards the end of my last pregnancy so we'll see if that happens again.

  • Feeling lucky that my rings still fit so far. I still have 7 weeks to go so we will see!
  •  I wear mine during the daytime when I'm at work but after that and at night I tend to take them off

  • I think I stopped wearing mine sometime in June. The engagement ring was the first to go back to the jewelry box, because it actually caused my skin to get raw and scaly under the band due to lack of movement and air, then it broke the skin as I was trying to get it off so, done done done.

I wore my wedding band for a week or so after that but then it started actually looking bad because my finger was so constricted it was turning red. Finally got it off with some windex and now I just occasionally gaze at the set longingly. Decided not to go with any temporary replacements so my finger will remain bare until after the baby has arrived. :disappointed:

  • ElcaB this is me. Super sad/horrified I've outgrown my temporary Amazon rings and all my shoes.
  • hahahhaha the IDEA that my rings would fit right now is hilarious!!! Sometimes I take my diamond out of the box and just stare at it now. Pitiful.
  • I took mine off the second I felt them getting snug which was around 20 weeks. I learned the hard way last time when I was pregnant and had to get them cut off my finger!
  • I have to take mine off when I'm sleeping because I feel it getting tighter throughout the night.  I should just take it off and let the jewelers clean it and re-dip it so it's all pretty again.

  • So I took off my wedding ring back in June and was just wearing the two bands until I made the mistake of putting the ring back on last weekend for my baby shower. Now it is stuck and I'm praying I won't have to get it cut off. Any tips on removal???? :/

I'm lucky enough to not swell in my hands or feet unless I'm outside in the heat for too long. All my swelling goes straight to my face!

@nanibrooks15 what you could do is take a thin piece of string and wrap it right around your ring finger (before the ring starts). The pressure will "thin" your finger and you should be able to wiggle it off. If not, you can try Aquafor, coconut oil, baby oil etc.

  • Eeekk!  Mine have been too snug for several weeks but I feel naked without them.  I cannot get them off now, but luckily my warranty covers them being cut it its necessary.
  • @nanibrooks15 adding to what seitzy said, I would soak your hand in cold water to make some of the swelling go down. I usually try conditioner or lotion while my hand is still near the sink. Rinse, repeat. Just be sure the drain is closed, I've had a few scares!!
  • I think I took my e-ring off in the 1st trimester because it was getting tight to the point I would get like a welt underneath where it was rubbing, but my wedding ring has been fine, it's always been a little bit too big, but it's my mothers wedding band so I feel weird about resizing it. It's getting at the point where it slides around on my finger a little, but it's hard to get it off the knuckle, so it's comfortable for now. I will probably take it off in the next few weeks but I feel weird about it. I had it off to get cleaned a month or so ago and I got so many weird looks for walking around pregnant with no ring; one time I was in the grocery store and the cashier was all "when are you due etc etc" and then asked what my husband did, looked at my ringless finger and was like "or boyfriend or partner... or are you on your own?". Ok?

  • I took mine off months ago and bought a cheapie wedding band.  It's not tight, but it feels uncomfortable towards the end of day.  I can't wait to get my original set back on.

Mine are completely stuck on my finger! I have swelled up terribly over the past few days and all of a sudden, I realized I can't get them off :-( The same thing happened to me halfway through my pregnancy with DS1 and I swore that this time I would take them off in time! I missed my window again!! I'm sure they'll come off in a few months like they did last time...

  • For anyone suffering from stuck rings - seriously, try Windex.

  • I'm pretty consistently able to get my engagement ring and wedding band on and off.  My promise ring that I wear on my other hand is another story.

    I resized mine...
You resized your ring while pregnant? Man, I had to resize mine after my last pregnancy. I went in after three months PP and even then the jeweler was like "I'm hesitant to do this for you" because of the fluctuations. Of course, I know my body and was like "this is it, I'm afraid" so it was the right call.
