Prescription morning sickness medication

I thought I was coasting along well this time until Monday, and now today cannot even keep anything down. Has anyone tried and liked any medication other than Zofran (ondansetron)? I had a box left from my pregnancy in 2013 and took a pill this morning in desperation (I know, past expiration and probably shouldn't have) but don't feel any relief at all. None of the natural remedies (pressure points, ginger) have ever made a difference. I see there is a new-ish drug called Diclegis and might ask about it at first appt. tomorrow. Have you tried this before? Looks like it might cause drowsiness.

Sending lots of virtual anti-puking power to anyone else going through this yet.

  • I've only had queasiness/nausea so far, but for an OTC fix I've found Sina Ginger Candy completely eliminates any ill feelings I have.  Were you trying straight ginger or something else?

  • My MS hasn't kicked in yet, but preggie pop drops helped me along with sea bands in my last pregnancy.

@ladameperdue If you don't have an Asian grocery/candy store near you, they've also got it on Amazon prime (this link is for the smallest size, bigger sizes are more cost effective):

Fingers crossed they help you out!

  • Diclegis isn't new. It had some erroneous data take it off the market quite awhile ago and it's been rebranded to keep it from having its reputation ruined by this incorrect data.  It's the same as diclectin. It works well for some people.  I found it made me SUPER drowsy to the point that I couldn't function.  And I still felt awful. But some people love it. It's definitely worth a try!

  • I've heard it's very similar to just taking a unisom and a B6. Maybe try that out?

  • @mamabear2015 woah, that sounds awful. Good to know. @mama5181 that might make sense with the drowsiness - unisom at night is a godsend

  • Last time I tried Zofran and metoclopramide. Zofran was definitely better for me even though I still felt awful. On metoclopramide I threw up less than on Zofran, but the baseline nausea I felt day and night was worse.

Morning sickness sucks! Last time mine really kicked in at 6 weeks and it was debilitating. I'm only 4w5d now so it's not too bad at the moment.

Hope you find something that works!

  • With my first I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum, so I threw up multiple times a day, every day, from five weeks to birth. I was on zofran nearly the entire pregnancy because I was losing too much weight and lived too far from town to get IVs regularly enough. I was on zofran and phenergan together for a while. The zofran definitely helped. I still threw up, but only once or twice a day, not 10-15 times. I'm so sorry you're going through this mama
